Dogs are very welcome. Keep them on a lead while you’re wandering the property, then let them be their goofy, happy selves back at camp. Campfires are practically mandatory. Every site has its own fire pit, and if you burn through your firewood faster than a pollie breaks a promise, we can sort you out with more for a small fee.
Now for a quick reality check. We’re not the Hilton. In fact, we don’t provide any amenities at all. No toilets, no showers, no bins. Think of The Good Life as a safe, private slice of bush that feels like the middle of nowhere, because it pretty much is. You’ll need to be fully self-contained and take everything you bring in back out with you. Leave only footprints and good memories.
What you do with your time is entirely up to you. Park yourself in a camp chair with a book, wander the farm, or lace up your boots and explore around 70 acres of bush tracks. When night falls, the stars put on a serious show and the silence is so complete you can actually hear yourself think.
There’s no phone service and no Wi-Fi. Consider it a feature, not a bug. It’s the perfect excuse to ignore your emails.
If you feel like venturing out, the Orara Valley and Coffs Coast offer stunning rainforests, beaches, waterfalls and swimming holes, all within a 30-minute drive.

Amazing campgrounds , well maintained. So beautiful having a beach on a river it’s very nice. Some of the negatives tho not owners fault there are Bull Ants near bush area, I camped and had quiet a few walking around and I got stung on the hand which was not pleasant, so my advice find a more central spot in the grounds away from the bush. Also I took a tinnie boat with me it was a bad idea I managed to get the boat into the river but getting it back onto trailer was extremely difficult because it is very steep and sandy so it’s not advised , stick to a kayak. But I definitely would return just without a boat and find more central spot away from bush get away from the painful Bulldog ants

Dan and Ro were great hosts with excellent communication. The site was easy to find and beautifully secluded. The camp spot was lovely, with a fire pit and wood supplied, which made it perfect for sitting around an open fire and relaxing. This site is on a slight incline so we set up in the flatter area towards to water lily pond.

Our family had a wonderful stay thanks to Craig and Kerry. Directions were simple to follow and entry to the site was well maintained. The large grassy paddock was perfect for the kids to run around and we spent all day relaxing in the river and enjoying our private beach. There was a nasty storm overnight but Craig offered that we could park under the huge awning so we didn't have to worry about our setup. We're looking forward to coming back next Summer!

Great spot, large cleared area with plenty of sites all to yourself or would accommodate a large gathering. Orara river is lovely for a paddle and a swim in summer. Only people we saw were a couple of tinnies fishing down the river.

What a gem! A huge bush block with loads of great caravan-friendly campsites to choose from, so you can really find your own private slice of paradise. The freshwater river was absolutely beautiful - perfect for a swim. It felt wonderfully secluded and peaceful, yet still close enough to town to duck in if needed. If you love space, privacy and nature, this place is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be back.

What an epic stay, so grateful that we got to experience the magic of Ngaio’s farm. Especially, milk feeding her baby calf’s… so cute!! And all the animals, so friendly and love a good scratch. Would definitely recommend if you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle but also not be too far from Byron or Yamba. Love love love, we will be back!

Minnie Water Beach
Sometimes called Main Beach by the locals, Minnie Water Beach is a 1-kilometre strip of white sand, popular for quiet getaways, fishing, and surfing—especially for beginners. The beach is patrolled during holidays, making it a safe spot for shallow swimming and splashing in the Pacific Ocean. Sign up for surfing lessons near Rocky Point on the north end, or launch a boat from the southern tip for deep-sea fishing. Then pitch a tent or stake a swag at nearby primitive campsites that are right on the water. For a comfortable stay, try a cabin rental or caravan park with electric hookups, toilets, showers, and BBQ facilities just down the road.
Yuraygir National Park
Surrounding the village of Minnie Water on three sides, Yuraygir National Park delivers quiet treks through natural coastal regions teeming with wildlife and ocean views. Angophora Grove walk and Rocky Point walk are popular walking trails. But the best place for watching whales and capturing sunset views on the ocean is from the Tree of Knowledge lookout on the south end of Minnie Water Beach. Campers who want to stay nearby can venture inland for a choice of holiday parks with caravan and tent camping options and several amenities.
Solitary Islands Marine Park
A day trip to Solitary Islands Marine Park, about an hour south of Minnie Water, includes everything from snorkelling and diving to learning about the region’s diverse marine life and the Solitary Islands, after which the park was named. Book a dolphin or whale-watching tour, or throw in a fishing line from one of the recreational fishing zones along the coast. With more than 710 square kilometres to explore, campers can rest easy from a resort-style cabin at one of the holiday parks nearby.
When to go
The milder temperatures of spring and autumn draw the biggest crowds to Minnie Water’s pristine beaches and camping areas. Surfing, diving, and snorkelling are preferable during summer months, while nature lovers like springtime’s bouquet of wildflowers that blanket the terrain. Fall is ideal for stargazing and campfires when the skies are generally clear and evening temperatures are chillier. Be sure to pack binoculars if visiting Minnie Water between June and November—the village has a prime spot for watching humpback whales.
