Privite river camp is a lovely well kept grassed area . Many options for camping spots . We found it very peaceful and quiet with abundance of wild life. Kayaking on the river was so beautiful with all rock cliffs and majestic trees. Craig was a terrific host and everything was described well for the holiday .

Beautiful spot, and a very clean, well kept property. The doggies loved having a run on the massive mowed grassy area. Very quiet, peaceful spot, and completely private. Hosts were very responsive to communication around our booking.

Communication from Craig was faultless.
Driveway into camp was good just had speed bumps but if taken easy is ok and maintained.
Unfortunately we chose not to stay our 2 nights we booked.
We looked around camp for a level spot as we were hoping to stay hooked up.
Nothing was readily available without trees blocking sun for our solar.
Anywhere we would've wanted to set up had ant mounds everywhere.
The beach wasn't what we expected from other campers photos.
I feel the name of the Hipcamp is misleading as it isn't private at all with a security camera mounted on a shed..
I understand that there's buildings to be protected but I feel campers need to be advised of the camera in the description of the camp so they can make up their mind.
If it was in the the description I would not have booked.
We ourselves chose Private River Camp for privacy. Seeing a camera on a shed wasn't private at all.
Reading previous reviews were positive but for us it wasn't.

The best Hipcamp

As per all the other reviews, this is one of the best sites listed on Hipcamp. Truly incredible! Craig’s site is the cleanest site we have ever been to. It is so well organised and so much care taken in its presentation. One we will certainly come back to. Boating on the Orara River was also fabulous! Communication from Craig was also incredible and needs acknowledgment. We’ve been Hipcamping for years and this is No.1 for us. Thankyou so much Craig for having us.

Awesome stay

This is the second visit for us to Private River camp and it just keeps getting better. With easy access and a great road in which opens up to a very well maintained campground right on the river. There is plenty of room whether you are on your own or in a small group. We had a nice riverside sandy beach and it is easy to pretend that the river is there just for yourself with very few people passing by.
Craig is a great host with great communication. This is to be a regular for us. Thanks heaps Craig.

What a beautiful spot! This ticked all the boxes for us. The highlight for us was the river, 'beach' and seclusion. The dogs had an absolute blast and we got to recenter ourselves in a quiet and tranquil setting. Thank you Craig for sharing such a special space. We will definitely be back.

Absolute seclusion

The facilities were clean and tidy with well maintained grounds. Good swimming with sandy beach. Access with a 7m 2 wheel drive motor home no problem. Just be aware where you camp.
Also code chain on the entry gate is double sided. Mobile phone reception a little bit patchy.

Peaceful, Private Camp by the River

Private River Camp is a fantastic spot if you’re looking for peace, space, and a bit of nature. The site is incredibly private with plenty of open space, so it never feels crowded or confined. The river access is a real highlight, beautiful waterfront and a great place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
It’s a great balance of being tucked away in nature while still being convenient. You’re close to Grafton for supplies, and only about an hour’s drive to the stunning coastal town of Yamba if you feel like a beach trip.

Craig’s land is a slice of heaven tucked away next to the river, plenty of places to camp and wander my dog loved it just as much as I did 😎. Definitely coming back one day so peaceful out there. Good communication from Craig he was helpful, heaps of fire wood around. I can’t speak highly enough of this place definitely recommend 🤙🏻

Amazing campgrounds , well maintained. So beautiful having a beach on a river it’s very nice. Some of the negatives tho not owners fault there are Bull Ants near bush area, I camped and had quiet a few walking around and I got stung on the hand which was not pleasant, so my advice find a more central spot in the grounds away from the bush. Also I took a tinnie boat with me it was a bad idea I managed to get the boat into the river but getting it back onto trailer was extremely difficult because it is very steep and sandy so it’s not advised , stick to a kayak. But I definitely would return just without a boat and find more central spot away from bush get away from the painful Bulldog ants

Our family had a wonderful stay thanks to Craig and Kerry. Directions were simple to follow and entry to the site was well maintained. The large grassy paddock was perfect for the kids to run around and we spent all day relaxing in the river and enjoying our private beach. There was a nasty storm overnight but Craig offered that we could park under the huge awning so we didn't have to worry about our setup. We're looking forward to coming back next Summer!

Great spot, large cleared area with plenty of sites all to yourself or would accommodate a large gathering. Orara river is lovely for a paddle and a swim in summer. Only people we saw were a couple of tinnies fishing down the river.

What a gem! A huge bush block with loads of great caravan-friendly campsites to choose from, so you can really find your own private slice of paradise. The freshwater river was absolutely beautiful - perfect for a swim. It felt wonderfully secluded and peaceful, yet still close enough to town to duck in if needed. If you love space, privacy and nature, this place is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be back.

We loved our stay here at the River Camp. The property is huge, there are plenty of spacious sits, quiet, not far from central Grafton, safe clean river, kayaks and canoes available - I could go on and on.

Craig’s Private River Camp was the perfect destination for a relaxed camping Christmas with the extended family. There is plenty of space with not another soul in sight. Numerous potential sites to choose from each with a beautiful outlook. The river was a short walk from our selected camping area and we made use of the beach area with shade from a beautiful tree next to the waters edge. We also made use of the Kayaks available on site to do a bit of river exploring.
We are definitely planning to return.
