The host was incredibly welcoming and kind, and they were very helpful with all of our questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited over the Easter weekend in 2026, and although there were a few other campers, our own secluded spot—surrounded by metre-high grass—provided a lovely sense of privacy. It was also pleasantly quiet at night, which made for a very relaxing experience.

Great spot for bigger groups and the family. Facilities are clean and accessible. Hosts friendly and plenty of canoes for use which made for heaps of family fun. Don’t understand the drive in if you’re 2WD. It’s a 45 min dirt track with the last 7km of driveway in pretty rough.

Beautiful campsite , good level areas and well shaded but still open enough to get solar power, lovely to hear the rippling of the cascades at night. If you need them there are 2 hot showers a stone’s throw away, the toilets about a 100m walk

Stephen & Sharon have honestly created one of the best Hipcamps we’ve ever stayed at. The property is massive, with most of it dedicated to conservation, and you can really see the difference — the wildlife, the scenery, everything just feels untouched and properly looked after. It’s so refreshing. They’ve got kayaks and gold pans you can use for free, which is such a cool touch. There’s a great mix of accommodation too — bell tents, treehouses and standard campsites — all spaced out really well so you’re not on top of each other. There are toilets and showers scattered across the property, plus a beautiful camp kitchen with a fridge, utensils, pizza oven, and heaps of character/history inside. Couldn’t recommend this place more. Absolute 10/10. We’ll definitely be back.

Great Treehouse Experience!
Tree Hut Double (1)
The H2 treehouse on the Clarence river was very enjoyable and well supplied for equipment in the kitchenette. The rustic charm of the living quarters made whiling the hours away to the soft babble of the river rapids and the wind gusts through the trees most pleasant. Sharon and Steven were accommodating hosts and were more than happy to provide recommendations as needed. We used a 4x4 to access the lodge which made light work of the sometimes rocky track and the wildlife we saw during our long weekend stay included colourful songs birds, goannas and ducks. We loved using the free canoes on the 1km stretch of river but sadly we did not see any platypus - hopefully we will see them next time!

BACK TO NATURE

Stayed a few nights in a cabin, the bird and running water sounds of the river made it so peaceful. Sat by a fire and enjoyed the stars, swam in the rapids, just a Great place to get away from it all! BACK TO NATURE!! The property was well maintained and hosts very helpful, we are grateful to you both for sharing your lovely piece of the Clarence with us, Cheers, Steve, Peter and Dan.

Camping on the rapids at CRWL
The Rapids Campsite
We were blown away by the serenity and the peacefulness of this property. The host was responsive and came to say hello. He gave us a bit of a debrief about the property itself and what activities were able to do. We camped at the rapids. It has private river access to a beautiful swimming hole in and walks along the rapid. There is a camp kitchen, easy located and also toilets scattered throughout the property. We will definitely be back and telling everybody we know.

Amazing quite and relaxing camp. The owners Sharon and Steve have done an amazing job to make you feel alone with nature, to recharge disconnect and enjoy. The campsites are well maintained and the river is spectacular!!!

Beautiful stretch of the river. Great to be off grid for a few days. The camp kitchen was well appointed with a stunning view. The double tree hut was cosy with a useful kitchenette and you really felt you were in the trees!

We stayed in silky oak campsite and it was lovely and private but everywhere was beautiful. There was a communal area with a freezer, fridge, electricity and running water. It had a fire place and seating area. The place was lovely and the hose was amazing Sharon helped out heaps. Highly recommend

Very lovely owners was very helpful and kind. The Rapids camp site was nice and private with a short walk to the rapids 4x4 tracks were very good, few very steep descents on the way down but not to hard with access to the water

Great stay as always. Friendly hosts and immaculate grounds. As a bonus for us (less for the owners) there were few other campers when we were there, allowed us to appreciate the peace and tranquility of camping by the Clarence River.

The adventure begins on the drive in, the stunning scenery and beautiful views continue all the way to the lodge. 4x4 is definitely needed to get in! But once you’re there it is nothing short of peaceful. ✨

A beautiful part of the world and what Steve and Sharon have created is wonderful. The camp kitchens are so well kitted out, there are toilets and hot showers and solar power and everything is so clean. Beautiful river site and canoes to use as well. It was such a relaxing 4 days we had there and so peaceful.

We loved our stay at Clarence River Wilderness Lodge. It was our second time staying and we will definitely be back. Our Tree Hut stay was very comfortable. The facilities are clean and thoughtfully provided. Our 3.5 year old had a great time playing in the river and riding his bike around. Thank you and see you next time!

We loved our stay! It was an adventure getting in and felt like we were at the end of the earth when we arrived. The feeling of isolation and remoteness was one of the best bits about this place. Beautiful grassy areas on a great spot of river. Lots to explore and do! We do a very wild bush walk which was the best adventure I have had in a long time! Loved the free use of canoes. We camped with toddlers and the facilities were great. Not much shade but if you have a gazebo/awnings on car it isn’t a problem.

Clarence River Lodge is so stunning !! It was our first time exploring the wilderness and we loved it. Sharon was lovely and it was very nice listening to her stories. We took our Cherry Tiggo 4 which is a 2wd and it made it through the gravel roads, be sure to drive super careful though if taking a 2wd.We stayed in the tree hut and it was nice and cozy. Our overall experience was amazing.

Thanks to Steve and Sharon for having us. We had a lovely time and enjoyed the whole property to ourselves. Amenities were kept clean and tidy, all surrounded by the natural beauty. Campsites were all very well kept and additional ice bricks and deep freezer provided to help keep food cool in what was very warm weather. We were also able to read about the history of this beautiful place and the journey of the family who have occupied it for decades. They have been through flood and fire and are so resilient. It is obvious why they love this place so much. If you are planing to make the trip out to this beautiful property with a 2wd be mindful that the road is uneven in places and you should only make the journey if you feel confident in your vehicle. Steve and Sharon were kind enough to escort us out of the property when we left.

Perfect location. Great views and lovely swimming in the river. Even better that we had the place to ourselves. Even getting in and out to the land was an adventure. We'll be back :)
