Welcome to Our Cane & Cattle Farm on the Clarence River Step onto our four‑generation working cane and cattle farm, where the smell of fresh‑cut cane, the hum of farm life, and the shimmer of the Clarence River set the tone for your stay. Your adventure begins at the entrance, marked by “Rusty,” our old sugarcane harvester — a true piece of local history and a favourite photo stop. The winding driveway leads you through the paddocks, past different cane varieties and grazing horses and cattle. The front horse paddock will soon become our upgraded camp kitchen and guest area, and we’re excited to keep improving the space while staying true to the farm’s heritage. Life on the Farm Days here follow the rhythm of the land and the river. Wander through the cane, taste sweet juice straight from the stalk, and see how sugarcane is grown and harvested. Enjoy bike riding, walking trails, quiet fishing spots, and kayaking or canoeing straight from the property. The Ashby Creek swimming hole offers a calm, sheltered place for a refreshing dip. Life on the River This part of the Clarence is famous for water skiing, boating, and long, glassy stretches perfect for exploring. The fishing here is excellent, with calm water and plenty of great spots right from the property. We often boat across to Maclean for supplies, giving guests a real taste of river life. The sunsets here are something else — short, stunning bursts of colour that light up the whole river and paddocks. As the sun drops, the sky turns gold, pink, and deep orange, and the Clarence reflects it all like glass. It’s a quiet, peaceful moment where everything slows down and the whole farm glows. Exploring the Clarence Valley There’s plenty to do nearby — enjoy a meal at the Harwood Hotel, stop for morning tea on Chatsworth Island, or join in local favourites like the Maclean Cane Harvest Festival, Maclean Highland Gathering, Yamba, Iluka and Brooms head famous beaches and the Grafton Races. The Clarence Valley is full of character, history, and country charm. This is a place for people who love the outdoors, appreciate real farm life, and want a mix of adventure and tranquillity. Whether you’re here to fish, explore, learn, or simply breathe out, the farm gives you a genuine Northern Rivers experience.

This peaceful riverfront campsite sits at the very end of an island in the Clarence Valley, on a 123‑acre working sugar cane and cattle farm. With wide‑open views, abundant wildlife, and plenty of space between sites, it’s an ideal place to unwind and enjoy the quiet of the river. Please keep in mind this is a working farm, so you may see day‑to‑day activity around the property. The campsite is best suited to off‑grid setups, and a courtesy rustic amenities block is available for guests while a new one is being built. It includes a bush‑style porta‑loo and a gas‑heated camp shower, with water collected from the tap at the campsite. Guests have generous space at each riverside site and easy access to activities. Complimentary kayaks (Life jackets are to be worn), fishing rods,. You’re welcome to explore the property, wander through nature, and even take a fresh stalk of sugar cane to try. The herb garden and seasonal orchard are also available for guests to enjoy respectfully. Dolphins, ducks, stingrays, fish, crabs, and birdlife are seen regularly, and the sunrises and sunsets are a highlight. The river is perfect for boating, waterskiing, fishing, or simply relaxing by the water. Well‑behaved dogs (maximum two per site) are welcome, but must be friendly with other campers and the free‑range chooks. Each campsite includes a fire pit and allows one vehicle and one form of accommodation, with extra parking available nearby on the property. Located just 20–25 minutes from Yamba, Maclean, and Iluka, and around an hour from Coffs Harbour, Grafton, and Ballina, the property offers both seclusion and convenience. Check‑in is from 12 pm and check‑out is 11 am due to insurance requirements. Extensions can be booked online before 10:30 am if availability allows. One‑of‑a‑Kind PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A RELATIVELY NEW SITE - IT IS CURRENTLY NOT GRASSED OVER. It's our family favourite site but we have opened it to public. Set on a quiet island where Ashby Creek/Channel meets the Clarence River, this campsite has a calm, easygoing energy that makes people instantly slow down. The creek feels more like a gentle river — wide, glassy, and perfect for kayaking at sunrise, casting a line, or just drifting the afternoon away. Camped between the water and cane fields you’ll see the sugar cane fields, glowing gold in the late light and rustling softly when the breeze comes through. It adds this beautiful, classic Northern Rivers feel — a mix of water, cane, and open sky that’s hard to beat. You may hear the occasional car or voice from the Ashby road on the far bank, but it’s distant and softened by the water. Most guests say it just reminds them they’re tucked away on their own little island, with the world happening somewhere else. This spot is ideal for a larger camping group, with space for up to two campers to spread out comfortably. It’s one of our family favourites, and once you arrive, you’ll see why. The lagoon offers an easy kayak launch point, perfect for paddling out into the Clarence for fishing, exploring, or simply drifting along the calm water. With plenty of open space, this site is ideal for families, friends, and small groups wanting a private, relaxed getaway. 🌊 What Makes This Spot Special • Surrounded by water with a private lagoon/creek • Direct access to the Clarence River for kayaking and fishing • Spacious, private, and perfect for groups • A peaceful island‑style setting with beautiful natural views 🚙 Access & Camping Setup • 4WD access only – you’ll need to cross the flood wall to reach the site • Suitable for 4x4 campers, tents, rooftop tents, swags, and high‑clearance 4x4 caravans • Off‑grid camping only – please bring everything you need and take everything with you • Well‑behaved dogs welcome A rustic toilet and shower are available at the main camp area if needed. 🌾 Things to Know Across the river is the main road into Ashby, so you may hear the occasional vehicle or voice drifting over the water. Ashby Channel Riverside Site 2

We enjoyed staying at the Riverside Site2 for a few days in April. Clear directions enabled us to find our spot easily. We fed quite a few catfish but will return for our bream. Old school swing annd kayak were an bonus! Even though we had our camp toilet we appreciated the access to the portaloo and shower - pragmatic solutions !
