The cottage, which is situated on 10 level acres with magnificent views of the snowy mountains, is a peaceful and relaxing home to return to after a hard day on the slopes, avoiding the hustle and bustle of the bigger towns. Watch as kangaroos and the local wildlife go about their business while you're sitting on the veranda sipping a red and soaking in the crisp clean mountain air. Maybe all sitting around the outside fire toasting marshmallows while waiting for the snags to cook, or simply relax and snuggle up in front of the wood heater with a good book. And the star gazing on clear evenings is just stunning. The village of Dalgety, which has history dating back to the 1800's, has many attractions on offer. Like grabbing a hamburger and having a drink with the locals at the Buckley Crossing pub, enjoying a cappuccino at Iona Cafe, dining at The Gallery or visiting The Snowy Vineyard Estate which includes a Restaurant and Microbrewery. And of course there's the Mighty Snowy River where you can take the river walk, do a spot of fishing, canoe or take a dip during the warmer months. A little further away is the Kosciuszko National Park, which is not only home to the best Ski resorts in Australia, but has many attractions outside the ski season. Bushwalking, mountain biking, fishing, camping, as well as catching the Express chair at Thredbo for the enjoyable walk to the top of Australia...Mt Kosciuszko. Jindabyne also has many attractions, including Lake Jindabyne for fishing, water skiing, sailing as well as swimming. Kallarroo is a beautiful and nature integrated experience. From the drive down to the paddock where you move past rolling hills full of horses, birds and kangaroos to the open pasture and cattle of the field beyond the river, the entire experience is incredible. The site itself is gorgeous and secluded and is exactly as advertised on Hipcamps - they’ve actually been quite modest in their description! Bea was a magnificent host who provided detailed and clear instruction to make the process as seamless as possible. We loved our stay at Kallarroo and would definitely come back. I couldn’t recommend this stay highly enough!

Secluded Kallarroo Camping was indeed secluded!!! Exactly what my partner and I were after - being able to book the site for ourselves was such a treat and we were blown away the minute we entered the paddock, the friendly horses on arrival, the sound of the creek flowing, the star gazing and echidnas! We were really able to spread out on the site and felt truly alone, the firepit set-up was great, will definitely be bringing some friends back with us next time. Make sure you follow and download the directions provided, there are a few cross roads but theres Kallaroo signs at each one so keep an eye out! The road to the stay was in good condition considering the rain over the last few days, but there is lots of wildlife, go slow and I wouldn't recommend driving in at dusk. An excellent stay, thankyou Bea for having us for a magical night!
