Gorgeous and private paradise!
This campsite is absolutely stunning, and the fact that you have it all to yourself is such a treat.
There is a river to swim in (if you're brave in the cold) undulating land full of gums and huge rocks. Large space to explore, walk, bush-bash if you must. Abundant in Kookaburras and other birdlife, plus many wallabies kicking around.
Not much tall grass. Didn't feel snake-y.
Plenty of firewood. Plenty of privacy to dig-a-hole for your bush loo.
The campsite it in a clearing and one day we were there the wind came in pretty strong. Tie your stuff down and hold onto your hat!
We drove down to the campsite in 4WD, as the ground was a bit marshy after the heavy rains. If it were totally dry I would have felt safe to drive in my sedan, but would need to check the conditions
The ONLY downside for us is that Kallarroo is 8H from Melbourne. We wish it was closer so we could come back of a weekend!
Thank you lovely Beata for welcoming us so warmly and for the fresh eggs :)

Feels remote and peaceful. I saw deer and kangaroos close to the campsite. Plenty of wood around. Near a beautiful natural amphitheatre were I meditated. And a cold flowing river to wash your face in. Ancient rock formations to sketch; scribbled gums. Change with the dusk and the dawn.

Beautiful campsite, super private and easy to get to. A last minute booking as we were caught out with accomodation on our travels, Kallarroo ended up being both a lifesaver and an awesome find! Would definitely stay again if in the area or recommend to others. We loved the nearby town of Nimmitabel too, great coffee at the bakery and definitely see Tooth at the Federal Hotel for some bush poetry 😉

BEST camping spot on Hipcamp!
We stayed at Kallarroo camping on 3-5 June 2022 and absolutely loved it. This is the second year in a row that we came back and had the best time. The spot is fantastic - from the sound of the creek nearby, the privacy, plenty of firewood - could not recommend it more. Bea and Norbert the hosts are very genuine, welcoming and warm - very grateful to have had the chance to visit Kallarroo again - look forward to 2023!

Camping paradise
The hosts were incredibly kind and were willing to help with everything we needed.
The place itself is an amazing and beautiful farm, a lot of friendly animals and a river nearby.
10/10 and we will definitely come back if we will be around again.

Fantastic natural campsite!
Kallarroo is a beautiful spot to camp by the Numeralla River, nice big grassy flat area and plenty of space to spread yourself out! Swimming in the chilly river was a highlight, with rapids nearby there is always the sound of the river too.
Plenty of wildlife in the property including kangaroos, wallabies, possums, platypus, and we even saw a wedge tailed eagle up close!
Bea and her husband were lovely and went out of their way to help.

Get away from it all
We really enjoyed our time at Kallaroo. The space is open and flat and surrounded by beautiful bushland. It's a lovely drive through the property to the campsite with sheep, friendly horses and great views. The Google maps link took us on the wrong dirt road so worth checking the map before heading off. The flies were very friendly so ensure you have some insect repellant. We would definitely stay again.

Fantastic stay - highly recommend!
We stayed at Kallarroo on 4/5 June 21’ and found the campsite to be really good. The spot is entirely secluded and you can hear the river at all times of the day. Plenty of firewood and a beautiful property (the horses are very friendly!)
Beata was very helpful and responsive to all messages and we ordered a dozen of their farm eggs which were great.
Have stayed at quite a few spots via Hipcamp and this is definitely up there with the best - highly recommend!

Kallarroo is amazing!
We arrived here in the dark and were welcomed by the host Beata with a quick run-down on how she'd set the place up for us and how to work the necessities. We were super impressed by the authenticity of the old European-style slab cabin, but also by the clever use of mod-cons to make the place just so nice in every way. Without giving too much of the surprise away; she just got lots of the "little things right". Norbit is evidently a clever builder and obviously played his part along the way too.
They were also both charming and helpful without ever being intrusive.
The property is incredible, with a view we loved every minute of. The river is a wonderful feature and lots of water after recent rains made for interesting treks up the little tributaries during the day. We even saw a platypus.... We could say more lovely things about this place, but to sum it up in one word? Relaxing :)

Thank you so much for allowing me to camp on your lovely piece of mountain wilderness.
You were welcoming and generous (a bottle opener to for my ciders and extra fresh eggs!)
Wow the stars there are spectacular! I spent hours by the fire with my stargaze app mapping the sky.
Thanks again...

Peaceful and beautiful bush camping
A true "in the bush" campsite. Wow. We absolutely loved this place. Amazing bird life all day everyday, and hearing the river run over the rocks from the campsite is superb. The local horses were friendly and always coming over to say hello as we drove through the property. Plenty of space to spread out and some lovely walking tracks and 4wd tracks on the property too. We loved every minute at this paradise, it really is super peaceful and quiet. Beata was friendly and we loved chatting to her.
