Tucked away in a private location our new bell tent offers a comfortable retreat to escape the city and take in nature. The tent looks out onto a grassy field frequented by wombats, rabbits, kangaroos and wallabies. Of an evening wombats can be seen feeding on the grass and at night you'll be treated to a million star view.
The 5-metre bell tent has a comfortable double bed, and has room for extra blow-up mattresses. A small table and chairs inside and a fire pit and table outside makes your stay super comfortable.
Just a short walk from the bell tent is a clean and tidy toilet.
Please note that while we are pet friendly there is a strict no pets inside the bell tent policy.
As we have no laundry facility at Wombat Pines you will need to bring a double sheet and your own pillow and sleeping bags and/or blankets. There is no drinking water available so this will be required also. We do not allow firewood collection on the property so please BYO firewood.
For groups of up to five there is room on the grass next to the tent for an extra tent or two. Extra people are $30 per person per night.
Wombat Pines offers a tranquil escape nestled in the Snowy Highlands, where nature lovers can enjoy the quiet solitude amongst pine trees and local wildlife. Guests appreciate the peaceful seclusion, with sightings of kangaroos, wombats, and birds adding to the enchanting environment. Luke, the host, is consistently praised for his welcoming and helpful demeanor, enhancing the overall experience. The campsite's remote location provides a perfect setting for those looking to disconnect and enjoy the great outdoors, though it requires visitors to be self-sufficient.
It's an incredibly peaceful and spacious site and Luke was a very welcoming and helpful host. Would highly recommend if you don't mind a spot that's a bit further afield.
Really enjoyed staying in the Bell tent, it was super comfortable and had a lovely little fire place to use. The property was beautiful and we saw a wombat.
Peaceful & quiet location.
You must be self sufficient, although there is a toilet nearby.
We saw birds, kangaroos & wombats.
A great place to unwind.
Luke was a great communicator & very welcoming.
We loved stopping over at Wombat Pines and would definitely come back. It was just us in the Valley, far away from the rest of the world- wonderful not to be able to hear a peep from anything other than the creaking pines! We had a clear night and it was simply magical to see the sky lit up and the moon so bright it cast huge shadows. Luke was an excellent host and provided clear directions for checkin. Thanks Luke!
Our second trip to Wombat pines and again we were not disappointed, quiet, relaxed, puppies had a ball running around with lots of kangaroos, sheep and wombats to keep is company. Luke is a great host, we will be back again for sure.
Wombat pines is a lovely quiet spot conveniently located to Cooma and the snowies. Easy to access and great directions from our host Luke. We had a chilly southerly blowing but the pines sheltered us from the weather.
A beautiful spot in the Snowy Highlands. Despite a long stakeout I didn’t see any wombats. I guess I will have to come back. The portaloo is an excellent facility. Thankyou. It was nice that Luke popped down to say g’day. Lovely chap. I agree with the other positive reviews.
Great spot in the valley surrounded by Pine trees and wombat holes. The dog was happy to coexist with the wildlife too.It was good to uncouple from technology too.
Amazing - property, views, varied landscape and wildlife! We had an amazing time with our dogs and son. It was a great camping weekend. And we are keen for more visits, longer visits and going back with friends.
Thanks Luke for allowing camping on your property, it is a gem!
We stayed in the valley between the pine trees and it was a beautiful spot. Good location for Selwyn and yarrangobilly caves. Luke was kind and happy to have a chat, we would stay again next time we’re in the area 😊
We stayed just one night at Dry plains and had a great evening . We were very blessed to have snow over night and woke to a beautiful snow filled area. We will be back . Lovely space with a fence all way around that kept our dogs in and happily exploring . They all had a ball . We had a fire in the fire place provided . Thanks very much for listing this great property on hipcamp . Very relaxing . Also loved the pine trees and forest area .
One of the best bushcamping with pets (2 dogs) we ever experienced. The remote location provided lots of serenity, space and wildlife. If you want to take a break from your restless and stressful daily life: there is a good chance that this is the place you want to be. Despite the remoteness, thanks to the clear and detailed information from Luke this magnificent place is easy to find. We, including the dogs, absolutely enjoyed our stay.
A beautiful campsite, with lovely stands of Pine Forest, peaceful surrounds, full of wildlife, especially Wallabies. You have the whole place to yourself, so you can explore at your leisure. Luke is a wonderful host, we had a very good chat when he popped over for a visit. It actually snowed the day after I left, so missed out on a winter wonderland. A return is certainly warranted.
We had a great time at Wombat Pines with our pets. Instructions before arrival were clear and there are plenty of spots to setup on the property to suit your setup and the weather. We opted to stay on top of the hill and made use of the firepit both nights.
We had our first ever wild Wombat experience and spotted a few in different locations.
Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular, as were the super clear skies at night time. Wish we'd stayed an extra night!
Excellent weekend stay, plenty of room, private, sun to the north in the mornings beaming in, while protected by the pines in the evening. Awesome location.
We had an amazing stay at Luke’s "Camped at the Pines" spot! The location is peaceful, well-maintained, and surrounded by beautiful pine trees—perfect for a relaxing weekend away. It’s conveniently close to Adaminaby and Lake Eucumbene, which made it easy for us to enjoy some great fishing and explore the Snowy Mountains area. Luke was a fantastic host—friendly, responsive, and clearly passionate about making the camping experience special. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a quiet, scenic getaway with easy access to the outdoors!
Wombat Pines was an absolute dream location, far away enough from everything but also close enough to everything! So quiet and peaceful a great place to get away from the crowds on the Easter long weekend! Couldn’t recommend enough! Camping amongst the pines with a fire each night was a dream, my family all had such a great time, Luke is super friendly 😁 would come back here in a heartbeat !
Absolutely stunning property made even better by being the only one there. Wasn’t lucky enough to spot a wallaby but did see an echidna, many wallabies and some lovely birds. The stream is quite a hike away, but worth the stroll. I made it easily with my Toyota Tarago. Definitely follow Luke’s directions.
Fantastic site, all to your own, extremely quiet and many different places to choose from. We stayed in the pine forest and was beautiful. So much space for the puppies to run around! Highly recommend and we will go back for sure.
Also host extremely easy to deal with, a pleasure 👍
We had an amazing 2 night stay. The kids loved exploring the property while we relaxed in the seclusion by the fire. Very friendly and helpful host making us feel most welcome.
Wombat Pines, just what you need if you want the feeling of escaping, dirt road in, cattle country, and then arrive at a beautiful property with mountain views and a Pine forrest you can lose yourself in exploring, suggest you follow Luke's directions as we used apple maps and ended up coming in from the other end of Caddigat rd,
