It is home to native animals big and small and many natural features and views. Close by you can enjoy the Eucumbene dam 10 minutes to the North with great Trout fishing and Jindabyne 25 minutes to the South. Kosciousko National Park is located to the West with several access points. Sitting at an elevation of 1270m above sea level it gets blanketed in snow in winter and beautiful sun in summer.

Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge is a 330 acre farm which provides sanctuary to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and many bird species including their habitats. There are Alpacas and Sheep, Kangaroos, Wombats, Kookaburras, Echidnas and many other animals that enjoy this property. The land has 80 acres of cleared grassland this side of the river, and for the adventurous and energetic you can rome the other 250 acres by crossing to the other side of the rive, there are large stands of rainforest and bushland, with 2.5 km of Brown Mountain Creek and its tributary meandering through it. There are some swimming holes and mini rapids; the crystal clear water flowing over the river rocks can be heard from most parts of the farm. The land comprises Little Brown Mountain and has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and farmland with wonderful cloud formations and mists contributing their mystery and beauty to the dramatic landscape. There is an orchard with trees producing several varieties of apple, stone fruit and citrus in abundance. A cottage garden produces various vegetables and herbs such as spinach, celery, potatoes, garlic, chives, lettuce, rocket, parsley, turmeric, peas, beans, tomato etc. Past bushfire damage to some trees in the cleared paddocks is evident however, many are recovering well and most provide photographers with interesting and dramatic subject matter. Due to the catastrophic events of the NSW bush fires in this area all camp fires must be kept responsibly safe and no unsafe camp fires will be tolerated. All Guests are required to have an acceptable camp toilet, no holes in the ground. All river access points are shared, be mindful of others. As dogs are welcome and even well behaved dogs will be dogs when it comes to their family, all guests are advised to make themselves known prior to going near another's camp site, then there is no surprises either way. Dogs are welcome, however, we do run sheep in an adjoining paddock so they need to stay close to your camp. Kids aged 16 and under camp for free. Fire wood can be provided - chainsaws are permitted but be mindful of structures that are animal habitats. Weekend Trip to Riverview

Really loved the relaxed spot! Was clean, great scenery and only 5 bookings allowed at a time which really made the place stand out as everyone had there privacy. Jackie was lovely and came over for a chat and offered to show us a secret swimming spot but after a long day travelling and early morning rise we declined, will have to come back again to see it!

Perfect. It was picturesque, calm and secluded. The perfect week, friendly calf, cows and horses which children loved. Beautiful bell bird sounds and bowerbirds, an array of wallabies. 1 night at High Country Camping

Great camp spot in the high country. Jayne’s instructions were easy to follow. We had a 2WD Mercedes sprinter campervan and had no trouble getting into the site. Flushing toilet was a nice touch and thoughtfully set up with gravity feed. Highly recommend for a secluded spot to camp. Many thanks G&R

Weekend Trip to High Country Camping

Great spot for a variety of campers, caters to those that want a huge big grassy area or others that want a quiet secluded bush camp to themselves. We noticed how absolutely absent of road or aircraft noise, or any man-made noise really. Our camper trailer got through the bush tracks easily and we found a nice sheltered spot from the high winds (big rigs would'nt make one of the sharper bush track turns due to a tree). Huge rigs of any size could find numerous places in the main clearing around the dam/shed which would be perfect for large groups. Incredible amount of easy to grab firewood sets this place apart. Flushing toilet another bonus. We got nice and close to an Echidna too.

Super happy Michael and his family were super welcoming and accommodating. We were met with a carton of eggs and escorted to our campsite to which was clean and comfortable. Michael provided us with a map which allowed us to freely explore on our motorcycles. Would definitely recommend staying here and will absolutely be back.

Weekend Trip to Ingelara Farm

We had an absolutely amazing time camping on Beatrice, Tobias, Laurence & Lina’s land! The entire experience was fantastic, starting with the hosts, who are incredibly welcoming and accommodating—they really went out of their way to make our stay fun. The property offers two distinct and great sites. We found that both have lots of free space for setup, which is wonderful. For those prioritizing convenience, Site 2 is closer to the toilet and shower facilities. The scenery around the farm is breathtaking; the lake and the surrounding farmland are truly beautiful. It’s a very peaceful and picturesque setting. One important tip for future Hipcampers: since the sites are located around 700 meters above sea level, it can get quite chilly, even during late spring. Be sure to pack extra layers and warm gear for the evenings! Overall, we had a blast and highly recommend this beautiful spot.

Weekend Trip to Bega Valley and Mountain Views

Had an absolutely wonderful, relaxing time. We were a group of 3 families with dogs, had 2 x pop top campers and a caravan and we had no problems with access or setup at all. We stayed 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The view at the site was lovely and the kids even got to pat some cows that stopped in for a sticky beak at camp on the last morning. Julie the host was very kind and helpful from the moment we booked until we left the site and was very responsive to any questions we had. Only half an hour from Tathra beach and the whale watching which was nice and less than 20 mins from Bega.

Terrific spot to camp. Jackie met us on arrival with a basket of goodies from her garden which was truly lovely. The views from the camping spot a beautiful. We happily used one of the fire pits to toast marshmallows and watch the skies.

High Country Camping has made our list of favourite camping spots! We loved our stay- it was so peaceful, spacious and quiet. The hosts Jayne and Tim are super friendly and the flushing toilet on site was just a bonus. Definitely recommend taking ALL rubbish with you though (we picked up some from previous campers at this property) as they have cattle who pass through the area. Would love to come back again in the future, thank you!!

We were there mid week and basically had the place to ourselves. The area is truly massive and as long as people don’t need to be super close to the bathroom, you won’t even see each other. We had one other person stay that night in an RV and never even saw each other after the first quick hello. Our doggo also loved being free to run and explore and the big open area made it very relaxing for us to know he wasn’t getting up to any mischief. Loved the peacefulness and beauty of the camp spot, will definitely be back!

Gorgeous views and great directions. Loads of firewood and plenty of spots to take our dog for a walk. The bitumen road to the property is steep but we had no troubles towing a 20’6 caravan up or down it.

Absolutely beautiful area for camping. Tremendous amounts of space and was incredible for taking photos of the stars and relaxing by the fire. The property recommends a 4x4 which would probably be true during wet weather however it was dry when we went and our small ASX had no issues making it through the property. Would absolutely stay here again.

Loved the property! Heaps of space to choose a good site, with lots of options! Tracks can be hard to see, so would recommend getting there before sunset to find the best spot. Beautiful views, very private, easy to find, 10/10

We loved our stay! Property is huge so many prime spots to be able to pull up and set camp. Jayne and Tim are lovely and super quick to respond. We had such a lovely weekend next to the fire under the stars. The toilet and shelter are great little luxuries. Excited to come back!

Lovely spot, not far off the bitumen of a private no through road so pretty quiet. Good for non offroader. It's along a ridgeline with open space for camping but bushwalks down either slope. Wombats everywhere!
