Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge is a 330 acre farm which provides sanctuary to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and many bird species including their habitats. There are Alpacas and Sheep, Kangaroos, Wombats, Kookaburras, Echidnas and many other animals that enjoy this property. The land has 80 acres of cleared grassland this side of the river, and for the adventurous and energetic you can rome the other 250 acres by crossing to the other side of the rive, there are large stands of rainforest and bushland, with 2.5 km of Brown Mountain Creek and its tributary meandering through it. There are some swimming holes and mini rapids; the crystal clear water flowing over the river rocks can be heard from most parts of the farm. The land comprises Little Brown Mountain and has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and farmland with wonderful cloud formations and mists contributing their mystery and beauty to the dramatic landscape. There is an orchard with trees producing several varieties of apple, stone fruit and citrus in abundance. A cottage garden produces various vegetables and herbs such as spinach, celery, potatoes, garlic, chives, lettuce, rocket, parsley, turmeric, peas, beans, tomato etc. Past bushfire damage to some trees in the cleared paddocks is evident however, many are recovering well and most provide photographers with interesting and dramatic subject matter. Due to the catastrophic events of the NSW bush fires in this area all camp fires must be kept responsibly safe and no unsafe camp fires will be tolerated. All Guests are required to have an acceptable camp toilet, no holes in the ground. All river access points are shared, be mindful of others. As dogs are welcome and even well behaved dogs will be dogs when it comes to their family, all guests are advised to make themselves known prior to going near another's camp site, then there is no surprises either way. The crystal clear Yowrie River flows along the western side of the property with numerous secluded swimming holes. We operate three Hipcamp sites and two different locations on the property. Mountain Camp is a single site and offers complete seclusion and privacy, while River Camp is a double site and offers views across the valley whilst only being metres from the river. Both locations have composting toilets and Mountain Camp has an additional undercover camp kitchen. We cater for small groups and families who are seeking a quiet, peaceful escape. Our sites are small and are capped at 6 people each, per night. Based near Mount Utopia, Nerrigundah, we fell in love with our little sanctuary in 2020. There are two families Dwayne, Michelle, Robbie and Sharon and their four boys Blake, Taeg, Cooper and Flynn. Campers at heart, we started spending nearly every second weekend in our campers and this lead to many a night discussing what else we could do to make this property a place for others to use. It is a work in progress and there is plenty more to come, currently there is a ablution block that is up near the old house site, we decided it was best to have the camp area closer to the river. We have since added a camp kitchen, large undercover area and two cabins (for our own use at this stage). Enjoy direct access to the river plus more swimming areas on the property. Campfires are permitted. There is some firewood on the property but probably best to bring some of your own. There is Telstra service enabling mobile coverage if needed especially for emergencies. 4WDs are recommended to access this campsite. During the rain we recommend 4WD only. In dry you can access with an all wheel drive. Please message us if you're unsure about weather conditions and your vehicle. Our little piece of Utopia is still a work in progress but is picturesque as well as peaceful. Your furry family member is welcome to join you. We hope you enjoy our little Utopia.

Wander along the river banks just enjoying the serenity of the location and witness platypus feeding, water dragons sunning themselves and the brown trout fly feeding and one of Australia's beautiful but lesser known native rodents, Rakali (intelligent semi aquatic water rat who's scientific name translates to golden -bellied water mouse). One of Australia's two aquatic mammals, the platypus being the other. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. IF NO CHEMICAL TOILET, DIG A HOLE AT LEAST 30CM DEEP . There is access to a drinking water supply (mountain river water), or you can bring your own water. After heavy rain you may need to boil/filter for drinking. You will need a 4WD to access the campsites closest to the river as there is a shallow gully crossing. Camper trailer or off road pop up campers will be able to negoiate the tracks. Good clearance necessary to pass over one gully crossing. Dogs are welcome, however, we do run sheep in an adjoining paddock so they need to stay close to your camp. Kids aged 16 and under camp for free. There is a dedicated campfire pit so you can stay warm on chilly evenings (please check to see if there is a seasonal fire ban in place). Fire wood can be provided - chainsaws are permitted but be mindful of structures that are animal habitats. Your family may enjoy taking a bushwalk that takes you around the 300 acre native bush paddock. Climb up and get a birds eye view down into a gully of magnificent granite boulders above where the river disappears deep below. Identify the unique sounds of the native birds and follow the tracks wildlife create. We are centrally located - just 1.5 hours from the snowfields and from the best beaches of the NSW coastline. There is a small general store, 2 takeaway cafes and a pub at Nimmitabel, or you can get all supplies in Cooma 25 mins away. Please note that we have very limited reception service for mobiles, so let's communicate via messages before you arrive in our area. I can provide a camping setup if you need extra bedding or you don't have any camping equipment or tent.

You may find internet and mobile not fully covered here. I have a mobile that I use which works well depending where I stand. Now has 3 adjacent camp sites available. If not booked by others its a quiet spot amongst a bush setting. also offers an RV site. You can relax around your firepit and enjoy watching the beautiful wildlife that come to visit the property including Kangaroos, Wombats and a variety of native birds. The host runs a Day Spa from her home so you may like to treat yourself to some self care. Please check with host as to availability of Spa Treatments. Why not check out our outdoor clawfoot bath during your stay. It's an amazing experience under the stars! Tank water is available but please use sparingly. The surrounding region is hugely popular for cyclists and bushwalkers with many great tracks available to explore. Mt Gladstone now has a popular track and Iread there are plans for a big upgrade. There is a lookout at the top and can recommend Miss Heides Austrian Restaurent. Amazing authentic home cooked bavarian meals in a rustic log cabin with a fireplace. The Murrumbidgee River is just about 4 klms away, where you can enjoy a picnic along it's banks and take a dip if it's warm enough. We prefer campers who are fully self contained. Campers must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There is an outside basic toilet that is a compost type with sawdust and is cleaned regularly. No pets please as we have a wildlife corridor here. * I am considering quiet well behaved pets for campers but not in the bush hut. Will verify soon*.

Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge is a 330 acre farm which provides sanctuary to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and many bird species including their habitats. The land has 80 acres of cleared grassland this side of the river, and for the adventurous and energetic you can rome the other 250 acres by crossing to the other side of the rive, there are large stands of rainforest and bushland, with 2.5 km of Brown Mountain Creek and its tributary meandering through it. There are some swimming holes and mini rapids; the crystal clear water flowing over the river rocks can be heard from most parts of the farm. The land comprises Little Brown Mountain and has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and farmland with wonderful cloud formations and mists contributing their mystery and beauty to the dramatic landscape. There is an orchard with trees producing several varieties of apple, stone fruit and citrus in abundance. A cottage garden produces various vegetables and herbs such as spinach, celery, potatoes, garlic, chives, lettuce, rocket, parsley, turmeric, peas, beans, tomato etc. Past bushfire damage to some trees in the cleared paddocks is evident however, many are recovering well and most provide photographers with interesting and dramatic subject matter. Due to the catastrophic events of the NSW bush fires in this area all camp fires must be kept responsibly safe and no unsafe camp fires will be tolerated. All Guests are required to have an acceptable camp toilet, no holes in the ground. All river access points are shared, be mindful of others. As dogs are welcome and even well behaved dogs will be dogs when it comes to their family, all guests are advised to make themselves known prior to going near another's camp site, then there is no surprises either way. Campfires are permitted. There is some firewood on the property but probably best to bring some of your own. There is Telstra service enabling mobile coverage if needed especially for emergencies. 4WDs are recommended to access this campsite. During the rain we recommend 4WD only. In dry you can access with an all wheel drive. Please message us if you're unsure about weather conditions and your vehicle. IF NO CHEMICAL TOILET, DIG A HOLE AT LEAST 30CM DEEP . There is access to a drinking water supply (mountain river water), or you can bring your own water. After heavy rain you may need to boil/filter for drinking. You will need a 4WD to access the campsites closest to the river as there is a shallow gully crossing. Camper trailer or off road pop up campers will be able to negoiate the tracks. Good clearance necessary to pass over one gully crossing. Dogs are welcome, however, we do run sheep in an adjoining paddock so they need to stay close to your camp. Kids aged 16 and under camp for free. There is a dedicated campfire pit so you can stay warm on chilly evenings (please check to see if there is a seasonal fire ban in place). Fire wood can be provided - chainsaws are permitted but be mindful of structures that are animal habitats. Your family may enjoy taking a bushwalk that takes you around the 300 acre native bush paddock. Climb up and get a birds eye view down into a gully of magnificent granite boulders above where the river disappears deep below. Identify the unique sounds of the native birds and follow the tracks wildlife create. We are centrally located - just 1.5 hours from the snowfields and from the best beaches of the NSW coastline. There is a small general store, 2 takeaway cafes and a pub at Nimmitabel, or you can get all supplies in Cooma 25 mins away. Please note that we have very limited reception service for mobiles, so let's communicate via messages before you arrive in our area. I can provide a camping setup if you need extra bedding or you don't have any camping equipment or tent.

Why not check out our outdoor clawfoot bath during your stay. It's an amazing experience under the stars! Tank water is available but please use sparingly. The surrounding region is hugely popular for cyclists and bushwalkers with many great tracks available to explore. Mt Gladstone now has a popular track and Iread there are plans for a big upgrade. There is a lookout at the top and can recommend Miss Heides Austrian Restaurent. Amazing authentic home cooked bavarian meals in a rustic log cabin with a fireplace. Dogs must be on a lead at all times however we offer our site “The Yards” which is a fully enclosed 2 acre unpowered site. Pet minding by a qualified vet nurse is available on most days (prior arrangement essential- in own van). Presently, we have one site- “The Yards”which is unpowered and fully enclosed and pet friendly. It is very accessible, yet still offers privacy and an abundance of space. Alternately you can choose to completely immerse yourself in the Snowy Mountains landscape at our spectacular Sirett’s Hut. A must for 4WD enthusiasts and avid hikers. Availability dependent on weather and access conditions. Pets on application. All sites are individual sites- plenty of room and no adjoining sites. We offer water tank refills at the homestead (water is a mixture of rainwater and bore water). Firewood can be collected (cut from the ground only), or we offer cut wood for a small fee. What a great place they have made, alot of thought & hard work has gone into this camping spot. Having showers & toilets was great. We realy loved the area. Great beach, crystal clear water. Very peaceful. You can do as much as you like or as little as you like. We only had 1 visit from Mr Goanna ( that we saw) but he just toddled along & was fine. Mr Red Belly Black Snake just slithered along up in the bush by the side of the track, we just kept still & he slithered away so all good. Obviously when you are camping in the bush you have to expect & respect the bush animals. The only thing is the Drive in, we drove in when it had rained the Mountain was covered in Mist & Fog so it was very Daunting on the dirt/sandy Mountain road, definantly 4 Wheel drive road especially towing a caravan. It is a beautiful spot and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Since the early 1800s our property has been a sheep and cattle grazing farm. Our first ancestors settled in this area in 1821 and we enjoy a rich historical connection to our country. To get to the western paddock and Sunset, Pine View and Hilltop sites, the turn off the drive to get through the fence means that small to medium setups are suitable. To get to the eastern paddock and Sunrise and Birch Grove sites, the turn off the driveway is a bit wider to allow for larger setups. Please check the details for size recommendations – the maximum sizes listed are for your total setup, including your car and anything towed. The sites at the bottom of the property closest to the road have easy access and more protection in windy weather, but if you have a 4WD and are wanting to sit and enjoy the 360 degree rural views then head up the hill to our Hilltop site. We can supply firewood, kindling and fire starters for a small fee, just message us in advance, or you can BYO. Strictly no foraging for wood from the property please. Bush camping on 100 acres in the Tinderry Range at about 1400 metres altitude. Seclusion and adventure all within an hour of Canberra and twenty minutes from Michelago and the Monaro highway. Big skies and dark nights for star-gazing are likely; or perhaps you'll be nestled in cloud; or hidden by falling snow. There are numerous tracks with spectacular views around the property for bush walking or mountain bike riding. The tracks are surrounded by sub-alpine flora and fauna (such as wallaby's, wombats, lyrebirds) and nearby in the Tinderry Nature Reserve. Tinderry Range is a rugged range east of the Monaro highway accessed mostly through Michelago or an hour and a half from Braidwood (when dirt roads are reasonable). The range is only around 70km away from the coast, thus enabling a sea mist to often roll over us in the late afternoon. Summer temperatures are a pleasant 6 degrees or so cooler than nearby Canberra. You may choose between a number of options for camping depending on your camping desires and set up. There are numerous tracks around our property or nearby Tinderry Nature Reserve. You may go exploring to find the springs or choose to stick to easy walking tracks that follow the contours. We will provide a map. Tracks are also great for mountain bike riding and exploring the unusual mix of sub-alpine, montane and coastal flora and fauna. There is numerous species of bird life and regular calls from lyre birds. This area has fascinating history with the largest eucalyptus distillery in Australia until the late 1950's and very popular with a number of bushrangers such as the Clarke Brothers who had numerous hideouts. No amenities. BYO camping toilet and leave no trace. Campfires (except on fire ban days or when we advise otherwise) are okay--usually recommended. Normally dry firewood is easy to find, or purchase some from us if you prefer. The exception is the bell tent glamping option,' Tin Can Ridge Glamping' which has a toilet included as well as firewood and shortly its own wood stove! Some campsites are best accessed by 4WD, or on foot. or gain access to the glamping tent with us escorting you. Camp lightly. No hunting. Do nothing illegal. Take all waste with you. Respect the land, the wildlife and people. Keep the peace. Enjoy.

A real country experience! An Angora goat and slashed tracks to access the beautiful 130 acres around the farm. The small village of Michelago is 5km from our property, has the fuel servo and a terrific General Store, which serves great burgers and milkshakes plus much more. 20mins to the town of Bredbo with its own pub is great for counter lunches and dinners. The Town of Cooma, the gateway to the Snowy mountains is a 40 min drive south. Also if you want to go camping with friends and introduce them to the great outdoors and they don’t have the gear ask about our hire service of all things needed to have a great camp, some are listed but more is always available to hire, just send me a message.
