Camping near Seaside puts you within easy reach of the entire Monterey Bay, north to Santa Cruz and south to Carmel and Big Sur. Head north from Seaside to enjoy camping amid the towering sand dunes of Sunset State Beach or on top of a bluff with spectacular sunset views at New Brighton State Beach, and then head back to Seaside or Sand City for kiteboarding and paragliding. Just south of Seaside sits the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the monarch butterfly migrations of Pacific Grove, and the charm of Carmel. Head down Highway 1 to enjoy one of the most beautiful drives on the Pacific Coast, and stop to take it all in by staying at the campgrounds lining the Big Sur Peninsula. Pitch your tent in a meadow in Andrew Molera State Park, then wander to the Pacific to enjoy miles of pristine beach only accessible on foot. Marvel at the waterfall crashing into the ocean at Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, then return to your tent under the redwood trees. At Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, campsites are VERY limited (book months in advance), but place you in front the kind of view that ends up on magazine covers.
