A very beautiful, view with plenty of room to stretch out and relax. A lot of options for sunny or shady spots. Excellent camping spot as long as you check and know how to read the tide tables. Long lines or voice control over dogs is advised as there are birds and deer galore, or if you have a Lab that refuses to stay out of the water. Can't beat the views of the Columbia or the sights and sounds of eagles soaring overhead. First night really windy and not fun for tent campers. Our pop tent was really noisy but the second night was perfect. Not as much marine traffic as I expected. Boats and ships are a novelty for our dogs, but having grown up on the island, it was very nostalgic for me. Jetty rocks were a little challenging but my young Lab didn't let that stop him from taking several swims. My older Lab kindly asked some fishermen to move along and not block her view 😂

Beautiful site. Right under a power tower... but stunning views of the river and the passing ships. Little windy in late May so if you plan to go in the spring, be sure to bring an extra layer and maybe some rain gear. All in all, loved the sight.

Amazing time in Cathlamet

We had a wonderful time at this hip camp. So peaceful! You have to go under the electrical tower to get to the site which was easy with our Truck camper. It was an amazing rainy weekend but we had a great time. FYI only has an electrical hookup on the road so bring an long extention cord if you want to be by the river.

We had fun camping next to the River and watching the ships go by, then looking them up to see where they're going/where they've been. Lots of great birding too, warblers, Bewick's Wren, Osprey, Eagles, etc. As others have said, you're near the road, but there's very little traffic. It felt private, had plenty of room. I did see that one reviewer found the site flooded, so maybe not a good winter spot. A little investment/improvement would be nice for the price, the "table", which is a pallet nailed to a stump, is falling apart. A picnic table, and bathroom would be awesome! Still very cool piece of property, was glad we got to check it out.

After spending a quick night out in the fresh air, I fully plan on going back here again. It is a beautiful site with a lot of solitude, and is the perfect place to relax, launch SUPs or canoes, and enjoy the stars. As long as you understand that there are no amenities and have the necessary gear, you won’t be disappointed.

This site is not all year round. It is flooded badly which leaves you a small space by the road. Too small forRV not a tent campsite at all. Host is unprofessional in her response gaslighting clients. there are many beautiful RV and campsite around, please don’t book this site at all. The photos are misleading.

Quiet spot near the river. Enjoyed watching the big boats go by and listening to the seals as they popped up. We settled down by the water for the evening - then moved to the higher spot to sleep to avoid high tides.

Camping on this land with our friends was the perfect place to reminisce. We had just one day of really cool, fall windy weather, but the others were good for watching the river traffic, fishing attempts, and just visiting around the campfire. There is what appears to be a power tower that connects across the river which may or may not be a concern to some people.

Love this site. Right by the river with a beautiful view. We saw a seal in the river and the kids loved it. This is definitely one of our favorite spots.
It can get rather humid and cold at night in late August being next to the river so prepare for that.

Nice little spot! The river was gorgeous and we felt like we had a lot of space to stretch out. The fire pit with the cooking grate ended up working great and we had some delicious meals. We'll be back!

This little pocket of lovely was the perfect PNW getaway. I saw cool big boats, took walks around this beautiful island, learned more about tides and how they can surprise you. Nikki keeps this area clean and the grass trimmed. There's wood and though it's off the road, there wasn't very much traffic driving by. Slow river living ❤️

Beautiful area!!! We loved the space and how we were right next to the Columbia! It was fun watching all the big boats and tide changes throughout the day! Very spacious and the fire pit really made us feel like we were at the beach! 11/10 would recommend!

We enjoyed this private Columbia River side campsite. We have a camper van, so the setup (for us) was easy. We popped into town (Cathlamet) for dinner and a beer and walked about. It's a fun town, with a bit of a port and amiable people. We drove around Puget Island, which was very interesting. In the evening, we saw several American River Cruise vessels come by, including a paddle-wheel boat, which was fun. There was a bit of a tide or wave response to big boats, and our chairs got wet, which was funny. There are no restrooms, so one has to plan one's needs accordingly. The ferry going to OR (where we were going) is adorable leaving on the hour and only $6. We would stay here again.

Absolutely gorgeous, private waterfront with a few odd, though totally Hipcamp things. For one, you pull off the road and on the strip of land is an enormous transmission tower. There are a few things lying around as if they cleaned it up but left some heavy things. Once you get past that it’s easy to feel like you are on your own island, with beautiful trees and a nice sanded fire pit area. Our dog loved running around and going in the water. A sandy beach would have been luxurious, but we still got in the water and hung out by the rocks. Great place to stop for a night. Incredible birds and cool boats came by. SWEET PLACE

This was an amazing spot!! Especially for RVrs. You park up above for the electric then spend all day down by the river! Wonderful amounts of shade, and sun if you want it! We went kayaking right from camp, we made our own drive up movie night, and biked to the fairy!! So quiet, hardly any cars drove by. We will definitely stay here again!! OH, and the daily HUGE barges were so fun to watch!! Even provided some waves to ride in the water while swimming!

Very cool campsite! But if you are a light sleeper, consider that if you are tent camping. It got very windy and a few boats cruised by in the middle of the night. Otherwise, my family had a wonderful time sleeping next to the Columbia River, under an eagle’s nest.

We had a lovely time at this spot. We were a group of 2 adults, 2 kids & 1 dog. More than enough space for a larger group.
It was quiet and private but didn’t feel too desolate. At low tide the water is tough to get to because of large boulders. No beach but there was a large area of sand the kids were able to play with. Tons of ships, boats & birds passing by. Definitely a fun experience on the Columbia!

Camping down by the river

Great spot to gather up with a group of friends for a camping trip.
Pros: Feels Isolated, but still has cell service, 10 minutes to the nearest small town (Cathlamet), scenic, flat, plenty of open space for tents/RVs, grass was mowed down recently creating a big open area for activities, easy access to the river for fishing. Well maintained site. Has 120V / 240V 30 amp hook ups.
Cons: (all easy to overcome problems)
No running water, need to bring extra water jugs for dishes / hand washing.
No toilets. Need to bring a portable toilet.
Pack-it-in, Pack-it-out.
We knew about all this ahead of time and planned accordingly.
I would highly recommend Nikki's camping spot to anyone looking for a primitive camping site for a few days to enjoy easy access to the Columbia river and incredible views of the Oregon/Washington landscape.
