Hither Hills State Park
Come hither to this far-flung retreat on Long Island.
Located on the eastern end of Long Island, Hither Hills has a lot to do in a small space.
Unique walking dunes of Napeague Harbor face the bay side of the island. They walk because strong coastal winds gradually blow the sand to the southeast. These three dunes may reach up to eight stories tall!
Anglers can fish year-round, either on the ocean or bayside. Picnic areas offer the perfect waterside spot to enjoy lunch. BYOH (bring your own horse) to explore the area with your hoofed buddy.
Bikes are welcome, too. Just bring your sand tires. Woodlands areas have some shade trees. The fun doesn't stop when Winter rolls around. There is amazing cross country skiing here while the dunes make for outstanding sledding.
