The Point is located in Gouldsboro, in Downeast Maine on the Schoodic Peninsula near the Schoodic portion of Acadia National Park on occupied Wabanaki land. The point is our home, offered to guests as a place for seekers of peace and solace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us. A priority here for me is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save and protect our natural environment and keep it natural and wild can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of you. We aim to prove that hipcamp can be a magical experience for private landowners and campers alike, to provide a means of temporal community and beneficial alternative to traditional campgrounds; one that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain. Please be mindful of the trash you generate and mindful of the noise you are making— we aim to provide seekers of peace a *quiet* time in nature. Together we are here to be an example to others of what mindful camping can look like in this changing world. Thanks for caring to come, see, explore, learn and being apart of the solution! <3 We hope to hear from you <3

Stuart Little’s dream house is an off-grid cabin on the edge of the woods, in the backyard of our home. The cabin is perfect for people who are camping, but want a little more accommodation. It has two futons that can turn into double beds, table and chairs, small porch, outhouse, and a picnic bench. Bring your sleeping bag and camp stove, and you are all set! There are also places to pitch a tent, if desired. We are just a mile down the road from where EB White lived, the setting of Stuart Little's dream house (our yard) gives a glimpse into some real Maine living: Boats and boat trailers, a rambling garden, and often a free pile at the end of the driveway. *Note: There is no heat. *Note: There is no kitchen. camp stove + fuel can be rented for $5/night *Note: Please bring a sleeping bag. Otherwise, bedding/linens can be rented at $10/bed. *Hip Camp likes to say we are less than an hour to Acadia National Park, but I feel that is misleading. While we are close-ish, it usually takes over an hour to get to the main visitors center, Hulls Cove. It's usually about 1.5 hours to get to any of the trails/beaches. See site profile for more information.

Mossy Forest by the Coast

35mi from Old Town · 1 site
About 45 mins down the coast from Acadia National Park and 5 mins from the quaint coastal town of Blue Hill, you'll find this ethereal forest and little black house tucked among moss and balsam firs. In May, you'll hear the peeper frogs calling through the night and bird songs waking you in the morning. In June, you'll see fields of purple lupine flowers around the Peninsula and watch fireflies blink as the day fades dusk. In July, you can pick strawberries at a nearby farm and see the Milky Way twinkling through the pines at night. In August, you'll find wild blueberries along nearly every trail and enjoy long sunny days, perfect for picnics on the beach. In September, you'll feel a crisp in the air and see the leaves start to change, making for cozy nights around the campfire while you listen to the barred owls hoot.

George Deering owned these acres and worked as a farmer in the early to mid 1900's, my parent's acquired the property in 1991 and it has since been passed on to me. Ellie's RV Spot is a single RV site designed for use by any length Class A thru C motorized or towable style recreational vehicles including conversion vans/off grid vehicles. 50 or 30 amp electric, water, sewer and screaming fast wifi are included.  All RV's including off grid and pop-ups must set up on GRAVEL PAD only. This is to prevent damage to the private septic system. Your camper RV, off grid van or pop up MUST have an on board toilet, composting or otherwise, no exceptions. **Tenting is not an option on this site, sorry.** The RV's pictured belong to past guests and are not available for rent.  A sister cabin shares the half acre site and is separated by a 16 foot long 9 foot high fence. This cabin is booked up 95 percent for the season. Ellie's location allows easy access to both the Mount Desert Island section of Acadia and the Schoodic Peninsula section. Well behaved dogs/pets are allowed on the site for $7 per pet per night. If you would like to bring a pet, please add a pet fee which is listed as an extra during the booking process. All pets on site must be leashed at all times, no exceptions. Campfires are allowed on this site when winds are under 10 mph. Check local weather first. We continue to provide free, locally grown, organic firewood in order to combat inflation and help you stretch your vacation dollar. While Ellie's doesn't have direct water access, there are many shoreline points of access close by. Beaches and water access are everywhere. Wide open space does exist. Come explore the Maine coast. Commuter traffic can be seen and heard from Ellie's RV spot. State route 204 funnels park visitors to Acadia and the MDI area. In 2024 nearly 4 million people visited the Acadia area. Slow down, plan ahead and be patient. 2025 update: You can purchase your park pass online and print it before you arrive. Reservations for Cadillac Mountain are now required due to overcrowding. We have one security camera located on the main fence. This is for your protection as well as ours. For winter stays please send a request before booking. We have 30 or 50 amp electric and sewer only from Nov 1 ~ April 30. Water, wifi and trash removal are suspended for the winter. Snow might prevent access during some weeks. Request first!
