39 ft Class A · With kids · I hate leaving a negative review and it was not a completely horrible experience. First off HipCamp only provide the street, City, and zip code for the location. Upon asking if we needed a house number before leaving, we were given the ambiguous directions of, “go to the address, turn left at the rhododendrons, and go towards the river.”
You can’t see the river from the drive.
There’s more than one place with rhododendrons, look for the drive on the left that has a row of the them.
We arrive at the metal gate, that’s locked. Spend over an hour waiting for a response from Charles, we can’t reach his phone, no response on the app. A neighbor pulls up behind us and has no idea that the property is being rented out but is kind enough to try reaching Charles himself to no avail, and finally cuts off the lock for us. The pictures must be taken from the roof of the rundown house that truly looks like property you wouldn’t want to trespass on but it’s private. There’s full hookups. There’s no easy access to the Riverunless you cross onto another neighbor’s property, who again have no idea the property is being rented and there’s not really any way to tell that you’re going onto someone else’s land. All the neighbors are lovely folks and it was from them that we found out the owners were not even in the state. To some extent I can take part of the blame. I didn’t confirm so if you’re going here, do that. Do not expect big easy open access to the river or complete seclusion.
