Great trails, nice sites.
This was our first stop on a 10-day camping honeymoon trip. We found the farm without any issues. The campsites were well marked. Our site was in the woods and was a short walk to a very nice outhouse and a longer walk to the wonderful tree shower.
The site was very private, so we didnât hear much besides the peacocks and other birds.
This would have been a perfect site for us except for two things that we didnât expect. Not really the hostâs fault at all, but we happened to come at what seemed to be peak week for gypsy moth larva hatching. They were absolutely everywhere and got into all of our stuff â seeming to materialize out of thin air. We were especially concerned because we were camping in three different states and didnât want to cause an invasion of this damaging invasive species elsewhere. So we immediately got our car washed after we left and took extra care to examine all our gear as we arrived at the next site.
Second, the tree droppings were incessant. Made it seem like it was always raining. Again, camping in the woods â what do you expect?
But between the larvae and the droppings, it felt like these woods were out to get us! ;-)
We highly recommend hiking the trails here. They are long and some are a little challenging, but the woods are really beautiful. The animals here were also a pleasure to watch.
We would recommend this campsite â just not in the middle of gypsy moth season! Or pick one of the less wooded sites during peak!

Past trips
Duncan's Courtyard #2
in Dj Duncan's Piece of Heaven, PennsylvaniaGreat working farm experience
DJ welcomed us when we arrived. We had the large camping area all to ourselves. It was clean, well maintained, and fun to see. We would definitely recommend â especially for larger groups that are respectful of the land and neighbors.
Site 3 - Magic Forest Farm Camp
in Magic Forest Farm, New YorkWoods and farm â great combo!
This is my second stay at the Magic Forest Farm. This time, I goofed and booked the wrong night. My hosts made the switch without an issue.
Itâs a lovely site with lots of room to roam and explore. The peacocks and peahens are always fun to see.
Pond life - Upper
in Arcadia Sanctuary, VirginiaHad to cancel last minute!
Our trip changed and we had to cancel our stay with Fran last minute. So this review is just about the pre-trip interactions, which were excellent. Looking forward to trying again soon!
Tent Camping
in Wild Duck Campground, MaineA decent campsite at an rv park
We had a medical issue during our trip and had to skip this campsite stop, but we stopped by and had a look at the site (campsite #1). It was pretty much what we expected. Not a fancy place, but well maintained. The staff we spoke with were very nice. Site #1 is probably the most private of the campsites (though none of them are too private) so itâs the one we would choose if we went back.
Best Site Ever
in Sacred Nectar Sanctuary, New HampshireIncredible site! worth the extra $$
What an amazing property! We bit and took Nick up on the âblue pillâ tour of the property since we are working on creating our own HipCamp sites. He and his friends and family have done an incredible job creating a magical place.
This was our second stop on our three campsite honeymoon. We selected site seven at the top of the sanctuary for the views and privacy â TOTALLY WORTH the extra money. The site was well maintained. The outhouse was in great shape; the shack very useful for cooking. Two different fire pits gave us our choice of where to spend our time in the evenings. And the views â unspeakably beautiful!
You will definitely want all-wheel drive to get up to this site. Our Subaru Outback had no trouble.

Creekside Woods
in Savage Acres on Craig Creek, VirginiaBeautiful spot for a stay and swim!
This is our second visit to this property. We stayed at the Maple Knoll last time and were delighted to see that the Creekside spot was open this time. The space is pretty buggy, so wear your repellent. But we absolutely loved being able to swim in the creek. Itâs cold, but youâll get used to it. Just take the plunge! We also really enjoyed the syrup we purchased.
Wiley's Last Resort (pond area)
in Wiley's Last Resort, KentuckyWileyâs is wild and wonderful!
What a wild place to be! Steve was an excellent host. We found a great spot a little bit away from the pond up in the woods. I felt very private and the dogs kept his company. If Steve offers you a four wheeling tour of the property, take it! It was quite a ride to see all of the campsites and all of the things that are happening at Wileyâs Last Resort. I would definitely recommend this host and this property. We will come back if weâre ever in the area again.
Site 1 - Primitive wooded campsite
in Kelli P.âs Land, OhioGreat site for tent camping!
We enjoyed our two nights at Kelliâs primitive campsite. Probably not ideal for rooftop tent campers like us, but sleeping at the parking site while setting up cooking and hanging back in the woods was pretty great. We used the canopy and chairs they keep at one of the sites, so we didnât have to haul our own. The wagon Kelli left for campers was really a great idea â other hosts should do this!
The parking area is right on the road, but we probably saw about the same number of pedestrians (three) as cars. Kelli and her dog were two of them. She was very responsive and friendly.
Wear your bug repellant!
Site 4
in Under Ĺne Sun, PennsylvaniaHad to cancel. mo was great!
Had to cancel last minute because of a family illness. Mo was lovely and understanding. We look forward to visiting another time.
Maple Knoll
in Savage Acres on Craig Creek, VirginiaA beautiful spot 4 sights & sounds
A beautiful spot with lovely sights and sounds. We felt safe in our outdoor oasis next to the big oak tree. The sounds of the river behind us was the perfect sound track for our overnight stay. Daisy the dog may look ferocious but she is a sweetheart and kept us company for much of our day. She likes catching rocks by the river!
Site 3 - Arise Farm Animals and Green
in Arise Farm, North CarolinaGreat view. beautiful farm!
A wonderful view, with great sounds. We loved watching the animals during the day. There was an RV staying in the ravine just below us, which we werenât expecting, but the spot still felt private.
