The Guinea farm is 18 acres of field and forest on the rural middle peninsula. Only 1 mile from 2 separate secluded dog friendly beaches and a boat launch. There is very little traffic or light pollution here, nature is at your fingertips. Come visit the farm and experience agritourism at it's finest. Pick your own veggies in the community garden and meet the Guinea fowl! Enjoy the wilderness and learn about the local ecosystem here on the middle peninsula. There are 3 sites spaced out across the 18 acres set apart for privacy. Wisteria Treehouse site closer to the entrance gate. Trilogy Micro Cabinz is in the pines 700' beyond that and separated by dense forest. Stargazer Tiny cabin is an off grid rustic camping cabin on the back side of the property. Each site is surrounded by several acres of forest and close to the edge of a large field. There are roaming guinea fowl that may come make a very loud appearance as they canvas the property eating bugs. Deer, Turkeys, Bald Eagles, foxes, and other wildlife are common guests also. Mid-summer is what I call frog season, Tree frogs are abundant and provide a wonderful soundtrack. There is an axe throwing board and cornhole boards available. 4 miles from shopping and dining in Mathews Virginia, 15 miles to Gwynn Island. Gwynn's Island is an island located in the Chesapeake Bay off of Virginia's Middle Peninsula. The island is located in the northeast part of Mathews County, south of the mouth of the Piankatank River. It is connected to the rest of the county by a swing bridge over Milford Haven.

The cabin is located on a rural road that is a five minute drive to downtown Onancock, which offers a coffee shop, several restaurants, bakery, shops, Saturday farmers’ market, and the harbor. Chincoteague and the famous ponies are 35 minutes north, and bougie Cape Charles is 40 minutes south. When you open the door to this 300’ gem, you will step back in time to a simpler way of life. This century-old building was moved to the site and has been brought back to life, preserving the original character, while adding the creature comforts we love of today. Soaring 12 foot ceilings provide a spacious air, and the original wood interior offer charm and patina that simply cannot be manufactured. In the past, it was a barber shop and then a poker joint. This place is a design nerd’s dream, a clever combination of old, new, and vintage pieces, handmade pottery and art, with close attention paid to each chosen piece. Lace curtains and blackout blinds cover all your light preferences for peaceful sleeping. The queen bed is a high end hybrid mattress with traditional coil base and memory foam top. A giant 55” TV is directly across from the bed for cozy streaming. The modern bathroom has a vintage wall sink found on site, and terrific water pressure from a rain shower head with instant, never ending Rinnai hot water. The kitchen has an ample antique sideboard as your sink, apartment size refrigerator, induction hot plate, coffee, microwave, and combo convection toaster oven/air fryer. The marble table seats two. A comfortable down-filled loveseat adds another lounge option. You will enjoy all the artistic touches around the room. Did I mention the front porch??? It’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, afternoon wine, and evening stargazing from rocking chairs with your boo. A pretty view of a wide field is across the street and will sooth your weary soul. Other things to note This is a warm and cozy space, just perfect for relaxing. We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful farmhouse! The property feels like a little piece of magic, with a gorgeous lake, horses, goats, chickens, and the sweetest dogs. There were hummingbirds everywhere, which made the whole experience feel even more peaceful and special. Maria is a wonderful host and such a lovely person. She made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and truly added to the warmth of the experience. Our two dogs had an absolute blast and loved exploring the property. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, animals, and beautiful scenery, this is the place. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already wishing we could stay longer. We can’t wait to come back! ❤️

Wisteria is such a cute site. Our family of 5 was looking for somewhere to watch the Perseid meteor shower & the open field next to the cabin was perfect. Ian quickly fixed the shower when the water was running low, and being just down the road from the beach was nice. We’d definitely camp here again!

Always a great weekend. Maybe be a little careful if parking on 1st St, it's a narrow bumpy road and both of our vehicles got side swiped while parked there over the weekend. Of course this isn't Andy's fault at all, just a heads up that there may be better places to park.

1 night at Sharp's Island

We throughly enjoyed our time on Sharpe’ s island. There was plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the sounds of rushing water. My only tip would be to pack some ground beef/hornet spray when you come. One of party set their tent up on the corner between the two “beaches” and disturbed a ground nest. He was stung several times, went and purchased 4 cans of spay and saturated the ground. That was the only negative thing we encountered on our stay. I will definitely return.

We stayed in the cabin, which was very clean and comfortable. We appreciated the hot shower after our days at Busch Gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. We also liked the nearby Gloucester Pancake House for breakfast! Our host, Victor, was very friendly and accommodating. All in all, we would 💯 stay again.

What a treat to be able to wild camp on a beautiful island, be able to jump in the water for a swim, hop on my paddle board for some exploration, listen to the cicadas, sleep to the sounds of water ( and some traffic, but not horrible), and also go for a walk in downtown Richmond or on the excellent Floodwall trail.

Weekend Trip to Little Rustic Cabin Near Onancock

This place is a gem! So glad we found it. Exquisitely decorated and simply charming and rustic all at once. Wish we stayed longer to just sit on the porch and watch the weather. Had a great time exploring the town of Onancock too. Mona was great with communications. Highly recommend!

Incredible place to stay, rained everyday we were there and still managed to keep 2 young kids entertained. Ian was incredibly helpful, woke up with a flat my first day and he was willing to do whatever to help. Haven beach is the perfect spot only a couple minute drive away. Even with the treehouse, WiFi, and projector my kids favorite part was getting to see and hold Ian’s chickens. Grateful of my time here would love to come back.

Weekend Trip to Sharp's Island

This is our second time camping on Sharps Island and we intend to make it at least an annual destination. There’s really no other experience like camping on a private island in the middle of the James River across from the Richmond skyline. In addition to its unique location , Sharps Island has a number of structures and amenities that make for a very pleasant camping experience - from the open shelter, to the tiki bar, to the rooftop deck, to the “poop“ deck, to the propane grill, there are many enhancements that have been added over time to create a one of a kind experience. We give this an A+ five star 100% recommendation with one caveat – don’t take our weekend!

I cannot wait to come back to Sharp's Island! My entire family came out for 5 days and we all feel that the island is a home away from home now. It's a peaceful natural oasis that still has civilization nearby. We spent most of our time in the water, and exploring up and down the James River. The memories made on this trip will last a lifetime and we'll be back to make more. Thank you Andy!

Had a great time with my kids at the stargazer mini cabin. I used to be an avid tent camper before kids and this has a nice blend of being outdoors while still having your basic amenities. I only stayed one night but we were able to enjoy all the classics like hotdogs and s’mores over an open fire but then could go inside and watch a movie on the projector. Took a peak at the other sites as well and may try to come back this fall. Also the host was great, simple instructions and very responsive.
