Set on over 60 acres along the Suwannee River, this historic property (formerly known as Suwannee River Cove) is under new ownership and being thoughtfully restored and reimagined as Oaken River. Towering oak trees — some hundreds of years old — provide shade, character, and a peaceful sense of place throughout the grounds.
While RV sites are set back from the river for privacy and space, guests enjoy the riverfront experience through shared common areas by the water, including a lanai, firepit, fountain area, and oak-shaded gathering spots.
A private boat ramp on the property allows guests to easily launch kayaks and small watercraft. River levels vary seasonally, and at times the ramp is best suited for hand-launched or paddle craft.
The Suwannee River region is known for its natural beauty and access to multiple freshwater springs and state parks, many within a 10–45 minute drive. Wildlife is part of daily life here — deer are frequently seen on the property, along with birds and other native species.

Scallop Tyme RV Campground was once an abandoned camp covered in worthless Sand Pines. There was a cabin and sheds in the center surrounded by chain link fence topped with barbwire. The timber was donated and used to fuel nearby electric plants. Once the four acres was cleared and cleaned, the idea of a RV campground started.
During the early onset of Covid, my family remained in our adjacent camp because there was no Covid in the area and plenty of Covid at home. Cleaning and clearing the acreage gave us something to do. While cleaning the old, abandoned camp site inside the chain link fence; we found an old boat and motor, a Kawasaki motorcycle, and numerous civil war and Vietnam war memorabilia. The campground was opened in June 2020.

Keaton Beach county boat ramp is 2 miles away. This area is known for great scalloping in the summer, red fish and trout year around. There are several guides in the area for your fishing or snorkeling pleasure. Amenities include fish cleaning table, BBQ grill, fire ring, and picnic table at each site. Plenty of room to park your boat. Most of the RV sites are shaded. Sites 1, 2, and 5 are 50 amp. Sites 3 and 4 are 30 amp.

Easy Access and Secure Camping
Located directly off Hwy 20, RV sites are at the front of the property, with plenty of room to navigate and clearance from overhead trees. The sites are behind double iron gates on a fenced and secure property.
Surrounded by Nature and Adventure
The Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail runs along the back of the property, this bike, walking, and horse trail was formerly a railroad and now connects Downtown Gainesville to Hawthorne. Enjoy the historic Lochloosa Creek, with the old train bridge still in use for the trail. Loaner bikes are available for guests to explore the trail.
The camp site it's about an hour's bike ride to Gainesville or a 15-minute drive by car. Hawthorne is just six minutes away.
Farm Life and Pet-Friendly Atmosphere
This is an active Florida Department of Agriculture hemp farm and Homestead.
Animals on-site: Outside the fenced camp area, you'll find pet cows and donkeys—all friendly and never raised for food. Feel free to feed and pet them without crossing the fence! Ducks and chickens may wander near the camping area.
If you're towing horses, they are welcome to graze within the camping area. If multiple guests have horses, we’ll guide you to a larger pasture.
Pets are welcome! Just keep them leashed near the other farm animals.

The gates remain locked and you'll have access to the lock code. Gainesville's restaurants and bars close at 2 AM, so you can enjoy a night out without worry.

The trail leads to Depot Park in Downtown Gainesville, where you’ll find restaurants, pubs, live entertainment, and the Cade Museum, there're also multiple trails, preserves and attractions along the way, the trail is part of the Paynes Prairie State Park. Electric bikes are allowed on the trail, making for an easy ride.

my husband and I acquired the property. We initially were going to be snowbirds and make this our winter
vacation home. After much thought and many winters in PA, we decided to sell our home in PA and make the move south. It was a difficult decision to leave our family,
friends and what was comfortable to us. About 3 years after our move, our neighbor asked if we were interested in his property. My husband Jeff and I discussed it and thought it would be a great idea to have a little more land. To make a long story short, that land somehow became Paradise Park River Retreat. What a beautiful place they put together! We’ve been all over with our RV and this is one of the best places we’ve stayed in! It’s so peaceful and quiet, easily accessible, super clean and level! The bath house is a great extra! For a small fee we were able to shower and use a real toilet. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the fire pit and lights at night make you truly appreciate what you went on your journey for!! Thank you Neal’s nest for sharing it with our family!

We really enjoyed our stay! The property is well kept and feels secluded but you’re less than 5 min from a few stores and restaurants. There’s no visual barrier between the one neighbor but they were polite and not intrusive at all. It’s a very quiet area and it was great to kick back and relax. We loved hanging out by the river and our dogs were in heaven.

Capt.’s spot is just lovely. Super private, very peaceful with amazing sunset views! Perfect place to either paddle on the Suwannee River or a quick drive to lots of Springs! We did a few floats down Ichetucknee Springs about a 15min drive from Capt.’s place. He is a great host!

Neil‘s nest has a very nice small campground. She has three sites that are full hook up and very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay and if you go there, you will see that she puts a lot of effort and making this campground and enjoyable family friendly place. she has all the commodities of a large campground with the exception to a swimming pool. She does not have that but otherwise I would highly recommend there and we would stay there again.

We just had an amazing stay on Brandon's beautiful property! From start to finish Brandon was attentive and accommodating. The property was beautiful! It backs right up to a tree covered and paved bike trail which was so much fun to ride! We used our ebikes but he had 2 bikes for our adult friends and even went out of his was to get a child's bike for their 10 yr old! We also visited Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings State Park which was so interesting. We shook tangerines and oranges from the trees stayed for the fascinating tour of her home. We took full advantage of his big smoker and had great food, built fires and toasted marshmallows! If you are on the fence about this property, dont be. Go! You will love it. ❤️

This site was perfect for us. It is a hook up for one camper full hook up, worked great. The river launch was a short walk away, and we were able to fish on a little dock. The river cat fish tasted awesome. The host Lisa and Jeff were top-notch. Communicated very promptly with us. although it says it’s in a neighborhood. The houses are very spread out and we never had a sense of feeling crowded at all.. We were able to swim in the springs a couple of miles away. There’s a cute town with a bait shop and a very good little restaurant. We ate breakfast there almost every day. We cooked over our campfire in the evening and Jeff and lisa provided us with great seasoned firewood. We would come here again.

Quiet, private site. Friendly, safe neighborhood. Level site. Good hookups. Near the Suwannee River. Love sitting out on the neighborhood dock which is just a couple blocks away. Jeff and Lisa are outstanding hosts. Stayed twice, and enjoyed both times. Will stay again, if in the area.

The location is great! Very neat and tidy grounds. A nice community area with a fire pit basketball hoop badminton nicely lit at night. The bathroom was nice. The bathroom was nice except for they don’t supply toilet paper, hand soap or a towel towels dry your hands so bring your own stuff in there. Otherwise the shower was nice. There is a washer and dryer there. We didn’t use it. There’s an extra fee to use it. There’s only four sites. It’s a nice private area. It’s a large fenced area with a gate and you need a gate code to get in. All in all I would recommend Neal’s nest and we would stay there again if ever in the area. Also I wanted to mention a restaurant close by called Off The Beet. They have extremely delicious food. I believe it’s in Trenton.
