There is only one farm past ours so road traffic is very minimal. Plenty of room to do what you and your pets want to do while exploring our 60 acres. The sun rises up behind the view and lets you see just a little further. It is nothing short of amazing. The sunrises are always different and some are the most beautiful you have ever seen. The mornings sunrise and the stars out here on a clear night are two of the best things this mountain has to offer. It will not disappoint. We can accommodate up to a 35ft RV. The best part is no long walks, you can park at the campsites and camp on flat ground. Each campsite features chairs, a bench, a swing and a camp cooktop that is fueled by your campfire. Nothing is needed to use the cook tops other than a campfire. The local area has lots to do. Several National Parks, rivers and trails. What makes W.T. Farm special is the diversity of textures of the landscape. We have great mountain top views, as well as, a deep holler with cliffs, rock outcroppings, and waterfalls. The fields are full of fruit and nut trees and there are 5 ponds. Each of these supports its own flora and fauna.
I acquired stewardship of this land years ago and have developed perennial orchards wherever possible. I started with pears and have branched out into pawpaws, apples, persimmons, currants, black walnuts etc. and I boast that I planted the first commercial hickory oil orchard in the world. I am an eccentric horticulturalist and graft cultivar varieties onto existing trees like oaks, hickories, black walnuts, and even the maligned invasive honeysuckle, autumn olive and multiflora rose.
Just last year I bought an adjoining farm that opened up 50 acres of more orchard planting. It is on top of the mountain and offers an expansive view of the valley and ridge system that defines our region. Funny thing is that because the land between the old farm and the new farm is divided by cliffs in the holler the only way to get from one to the other is a 12 minute drive or vigorous hiking. On this new land is a historic log cabin I am renovating that is said to be one of the original settler's cabin on the mountain.
Because of the amount of tree fruit I grow and the varied landscape, there is a rich diversity of birds and animals to be seen. One of my favorite walks is along the cliffs to the top waterfall where there is a sweet wading pool. I have also built a number of ponds and four of them are quite swimmable. One has a dock and is where we spend much summer time refreshing and frolicking.
The farm is also a small (very small) licensed farm winery and we make and sell traditional hard cider from our apples and pears. Our cider can be purchased along with our nut oils and flours and other farm produce you may not be familiar with. We live to eat. Coming here is a gastronomical adventure!
I run the Acornucopia project from here and from it we are developing a foragers network that would very much suit the lifestyle of hipcampers. We pay foragers for wild nuts they gather. Also often there is an opportunity to work on the farm harvesting and processing food. Let me know if that is something you would like to do.

Cozy Bear sits right by the large noisy, trout stocked creek, with a private hot tub between the creek and the cabin, and less than five miles from Hillsville, which has a grocery store, local shops, a gym, dining, and nearby hiking. There is a shared bathhouse with a conventional toilet and an outside shower, shared with tent guests occasionally. Inside Cozy Bear, there is a queen mattress up in the loft, and a sleeper sofa downstairs. The kitchen has a sink, coffee maker and on the deck is a blackstone griddle, a propane firepit and a wood burning firepit is by the creek. Cozy Bear has a composting toilet and a shower in the bathroom, an ac window unit and a beautiful propane fireplace. If the temps get extreme outside, the waterlines do freeze. I will gladly do a full refund or change your dates if the forecast is well below freezing, although this cabin is cozy and warm inside.

Inside the Cabin:
Our cozy cabin is thoughtfully designed to provide all the comforts of home. It features warm décor, with new furnishings and a well-equipped kitchen for your cooking needs.
Main floor sleeping arrangements are a bedroom with new memory foam queen bed, and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. Up the loft steps, a twin bed is located in the "Eagles landing", with a new memory foam double bed in the bedroom. Please be aware that the stairs are quite steep and were not designed with railing. We recommend exercising caution when using them, especially for guests with mobility concerns, young children, or those who may be less sure-footed. Your safety and comfort are important to us, so please take care when choosing your sleeping arrangements.
There is one bathroom with a shower downstairs, located off the kitchen. A small washer dryer is also available. Please note, these can accommodate only small loads of laundry. You'll find bath towels and smaller towels specifically for drying off after a relaxing soak in the hot tub. We've stocked quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as some basic toiletries in case a guest forgets to bring an item.
In the living room, the 55" TV streams Netflix, Hulu or any app on the Roku TV (you will need your own log in). The internet is provided by Starlink and is high speed! The queen bedroom also has a Roku TV, and a selection of board games, cards, and some children's activities are available below the TV.
Outdoor Amenities:
Take a relaxing soak in the hot tub while watching the local wildlife in the meadow. Enjoy our spacious fire pit area, complete with Adirondack chairs with a grill grate—perfect for evening s'mores or grilling under the stars. Lounge in the double hammock, or challenge your friends to a friendly game of cornhole. We also provide extra camp chairs that you may take down to the creek. When exploring the field and creek area please look at boundary map in our pictures for property lines to respect our neighbors. Deer, turkey, rabbits and hawks are spotted daily, and our neighbors report occasional bear sightings.
Firewood:
For your convenience, we provide 6-8 pieces of firewood for your use during your stay. If you require additional firewood, we kindly ask that you bring your own or contact us. We offer the option to use more firewood for a small donation. Just let us know, and we'll be happy to accommodate your needs.

Purchased 25 years ago, Wolf Creek Preserve is a 450-acre private nature preserve. The Corn Crib is a former corn crib where corn was stored and dried after harvest. The structure's underpinnings and exterior layout date to the late 1800s, but it was first renovated in 2004 as a hunting cabin. The Corn Crib was transformed into its current tiny-home design in 2017, with additional improvements continuing through 2025.
The structure was part of an old farm that included several buildings, including a Victorian home that once served as a stagecoach stop and hotel in the 1800s. The property sits along the banks of Wolf Creek, and we own most of the land surrounding it. There are long stretches of creek, pasture, and woodland to explore.
This listing features a rustic, historic corn crib from the late 1800s that has been thoughtfully updated with modern amenities, though it remains a quirky and compact space. Please note that the A/C unit and heat pump are portable and located next to the loft bed. Guests sleeping in the loft must climb narrow stairs, which may not be suitable for elderly guests or those with mobility concerns.
The water comes from a well, and we do not recommend drinking it. At times, the water may have a slight sulfur smell, so guests who are sensitive to odors should be aware. The smell is not always present but may occur occasionally.

I'm so glad we stayed here. This was such an incredible place it really feels like a hidden treasure. Incredible views EVERYWHERE. We came here specifically for the stars and milky way, which were amazing, but the fall colors really stole the show. This was the most wildflowers I've ever seen! Goldenrod in every direction. We were also completely alone here and there's plenty to explore. This is our new favorite place!

This was the most relaxing spot I think I have ever found. So quiet and peaceful. Comfy bed, easy to get to. And the biggest bonus was my dog could run off leash and found a friend with Silas! I can’t wait to come back .

Loved the space & property so much! Communication with host was efficient and helpful. The stream sounded glorious. The small cabin had all the essentials you could ask for. The loft with bed was comfortable. We saw deer in the morning and even purchased two paintings on display in the cabin that a local artist created. A great place for a weekend getaway!

The Cozy Bear was a wonderful place to spend a long weekend. The cabin was beautifully designed, and included all the amenities we needed from kitchenware to a coffee bar to a fan. We used the sleeper sofa rather than the loft, and it was very comfortable. The site itself was beautiful; there was another tent within view, but far enough away that we still had privacy. We had great fun paddling in the creek and enjoying the mountain scenery - we hope to return again soon!

We got moved last minute to the Bermed Lodge but it was very nice. They gave us one of the efficiency units with a kitchen and 2 baths. Very nice place with trails and cool, off grid facilities. Solar hot water, solar electricity, etc. Only 3 miles from town.

2 nights at FoxDen by Heartwood Farm and Cabins
Really nice place. The cabin is small but worked fine for 3 guys sleeping with a little rearrangement. Good location for a lot of stuff to do. We ended up tubing on the New River and that was a great time.

This spot was lovely to say the least. It’s in a quiet tucked away spot, I felt like I had enough privacy but took comfort in knowing the hosts live close by on the property in case of emergency.
They provided some water, firewood optional, a camping stove, lanterns and a few other small items that made a difference. My dog and I loved the pond that was just a short walk from the site. The dog who lives on the property was my dog’s little pal for the time we were there. Everything was clean by camping standards.
I got to truly relax here and it felt safe. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to unwind in a very aesthetically pleasing setting. I would love to visit again sometime!

This campground was amazing. It was clean and quiet! I was especially delighted to see my name on a little tiny welcome sign at the site. How cool is that?
However, all of these good feelings were offset by one event. In the evening of our first night, a woman was driving a golf cart down the road next to out site at top speed for the golf cart. She had a dog on a leash outside the golf cart that was trailing behind it. She was not going slowly and the dog was running hard to keep up. It bothered me so much. I nearly chased after it. I can understand wanting your dog to exercise.
But attaching their leash to a golf cart and then driving top speed down the street to me is nothing but cruel and playing with fate. Suppose the dog had got tired for a second. It would have dragged to its death in seconds. Not only did I watch it pass our campsite once and | let it go- but I was extremelv dismaved to watch it go in the other direction at the end of the evening. All of my being wanted to go out into the road and yell "STOP!" I wanted to make sure that poor dog would not be dragged to its death.
But my friends stopped me. It was enough that I was extremely upset and so were the people that I was camping with. I happened to be camping with my twin sister who owns a veterinary hospital. I can assure you, this is not a dramatic accusation. She was just as upset as I was. If you need to exercise your dog and cannot walk, that is one thing. But to attach a leash to a golf cart and drive

This is a neat campground. We camp in the area a lot and this campground is either completely empty or totally full. We have stayed here a couple of times when it was empty. We don't have horses so I wouldn't stay here when it is full. For us it is great as a cheap stop if we are traveling through the area at the right time. A nice creek goes through the campground that is right on the highway, so we usually stay in the back to get away from the road noise. Not that there is much traffic in the area at night.

Great forest camping. Campground nestled among shady old trees. All sites are spacious; some are only tent friendly. Water available, clean bathrooms, flush toilets, pet friendly. Great place for runners, joggers, walkers, just relaxing. Stayed here for 5 nights in a popup camper (8/11-8/15), encountered some rain. Grocery store in New Castle, VA about 30 miles away. I read a report that the campground was overgrown with weeds. I didn't find that to be the case. Also someone mentioned there was a camper in the back of the ground and it looked like a person was living there, well that is the camp host there for the season. Definitely will stay here again.

Overall a good campground: clean, remote, near trails and streams and lovely Marion, VA - but the sitemaps don't tell you about the changing topography of the place. We were in site 24, which appeared to be about 50 feet from a toilet/shower - but we got there to learn that we were also about forty feet above the facilities, with a steep incline between us. That makes for a tough nighttime trip, especially if you are challenged by steep trails.
