Buck Acres near Lake Conroe, TX

20 sites 路 RVs, Tents6 acres 路 Montgomery, TX
The previous owner had plans to turn our property into a 42 site row by row RV Park. Once we saw the beauty of the property, we knew we had to keep it as wild and pristine as possible. On 6.5 acres the perfect number of sites was 18 keeping the large house for short-term rental (coming soon.) Sorry, we are still under construction but excited about our progress! See a short video at https://www.buckacresrv.com Buck Acres is technically not even an RV park, we just want to share our property with fellow travelers so we added some gravel roads. The only amenities are a Wi-Fi, 50/30/20A plug-ins, a porta-john and water. We use HipCamp and The Dyrt for bookings or just give us a call or text at (832) 303-9940 "Close to everything, away from it all" We're in the country but close to city amenities and beautiful Lake Conroe. It's only a few minutes from April Sound and the largest marina on Lake Conroe, 8 minutes to Wal-Mart and Kroger, yet it's peaceful and quiet on our forested property. As full-time RV nomads ourselves we know RV park rates are getting crazy, Buck Acres is our attempt to help the community. We've done everything we can to keep rates down. The only amenities we offer are shade, Wi-Fi, electricity, water, and an ADA porta john that is cleaned every week. Affordable RV parks shouldn't be sweltering parking lots where you're packed in like sardines! At Buck Acres we have 100' tall hardwoods and pines that have been trimmed up 60' for the safety of you and your rig! Buck Acres is still under construction and it is a labor of love. All proceeds go immediately back into the park. Bring your family, pets, and friends - tents and RVs welcome! Please Note: Quiet Hours are 10pm - 8am Please keep fires within designated fire rings Keep pets on leash - Clean up any pet waste Do not walk through other people鈥檚 campsites. Respect the boundaries and their privacy. Dispose of garbage in designated trash receptacles Guests are responsible for the behavior of their children and pets Guests are responsible for all damage or destruction of property and any injury to persons caused by the guest, or by their family, visitor(s), or pets. Management reserves the right to refuse service or terminate stay for violations.

5D RANCH

25 sites 路 RVs, Tents400 acres 路 Navasota, TX
Welcome to 5D Ranch! We are so glad you are interested in visiting us. My name is Joee, my grandparents Eddie and Margaret Dyer have owned this property since 1960. It has been primarily used to raise cattle, and performance horses. However, over the years the horse and cattle side of the operation has dwindled down and we have been using the land to produce hay and for personal use of the trails for our family. A few years back we began talking about how we could utilize this place better and be able to share it with people! So we set out to work during the fall of 2015 and opened to the public in January 2016. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for news, promos and giveaways! Just search for 5D Ranch Camp & Trails.

The Navasota River Ranch

15 sites 路 RVs, Tents600 acres 路 Navasota, TX
The Navasota River Ranch is a 600 ac parcel of land bounded by more than a mile of the Navasota River on its west side and two tributary creeks on its north and southeast sides. The river bottom is wild and untamed, while the rest is rolling hills reminiscent of the prairie that once greeted settlers. Nearby is Bryan-College Station home of Texas A&M University To the west on Hwy 105 is Washington on the Brazos State Park. This is the location where delegates gathered to hastily draw up a declaration of independence before joining the Runaway Scrape to avoid capture and execution by the advancing Mexican Army. Farther down the road is the famous Blue Bell creamery in Brenham. The tour and ice cream are well worth the trip. On the property are miles of Jeep trails excellent for off road and 4WD vehicles. Guests might prefer hiking along these trails or strike out on foot trails and game trails. Thanks to the hunters who have come for the deer and feral hogs over the years there are numerous observation structures for viewing wildlife up close, or just enjoying the solitude of the deep woods. Three ponds offer bass and perch fishing from the bank or bring your own boat. And then there is the Navasota River...

Overview

About

Whether you prefer forest hikes or fishing on the lake—Huntsville State Park has you covered. On the southern rim of Sam Houston National Forest, there are over 2,000 acres to explore, including more than 20 miles of woodland trails, where you can hike, bike, or bird-watch. Set sail across Lake Raven in a canoe, kayak, or paddleboat; cool off with a swim at the designated swim area; or fish for crappie, catfish, and bass. Campers will find plenty of space at the three campgrounds, all by the lake, plus screened shelters and cabins.

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for RVs: Raven Hill Camping Area has 23 mostly paved sites with full hookups.
  • Best for lake-view tent camping: Coloneh Camping Area has 60 water-only sites, many of which look out over the lake.
  • Best for water-loving campers: Prairie Branch Campground has 77 sites for RVs, vans, and tents, all close to the swimming beach, boat ramp, and fishing pier.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. You can reserve sites at any of the park鈥檚 campgrounds in advance via the Texas State Parks website.聽
  2. Campsite reservations open five months in advance.聽
  3. Campsites can book up on summer and holiday weekends鈥攂ook as early as possible, especially if you have a larger RV or a particular site in mind (such as those by the lakeside).

When to go

Huntsville State Park is open year-round, but the most popular time to visit is from mid-February through Thanksgiving. Visit in spring migration for the best birding opportunities, in autumn to admire the fall foliage, or in summer to swim and paddle on the lake. The park is busiest on weekends, so plan a weekday visit if you鈥檇 like to dodge the crowds.聽

Know before you go

  • Huntsville State Park is located 70 miles north of Houston or about a 75-minute drive away.
  • Park entrance fees are required in addition to camping fees, and general entrance reservations can be made up to one month in advance.
  • Facilities include restrooms, picnic areas and group shelters, playgrounds, a boat ramp, fishing piers, and fish washing stations. A store sells camping and fishing supplies, drinks, and ice cream. You can also purchase groceries and camping supplies in Huntsville, a 20-minute drive away.
  • Alligators are common in the park鈥攕wim only in designated areas and never swim after sunset.
  • There are wheelchair-accessible bank fishing areas, restrooms, and campsites in the park. The Prairie Branch Camping Area (including the fishing pier and boat), park store, and boat rental area are also accessible.聽
