1) Please excuse the mess - we have many projects in progress in the front of the property. The back of the property is private.
2) We recommend repellent for ticks, chiggers, mosquitos, and other bugs during warm season.
3) The Cicada season usually starts in May. We recommend earplugs if that sound bothers you.
4) During heavy rain, there is a seasonal creek leading to the back of the property that can be difficult to pass without a 4X4. If you aren't driving a 4x4, park closer to the house on the gravel driveway.
5) There is a walking trail around the perimeter of the property.

We live on a small paradise covering 2 acres. We have plenty of space for 33' foot campers, tents, vans, etc. Our backyard has been designed to accommodate families and the single nomads. We are a small hobby farm with a dog, chickens, a small fruit orchard, vineyard, and garden!! On the north end of the property we created a playground with a jungle gym, swings, trampoline, playhouses, outside polyjohn/toilet, and a 16' pool. This property is pet friendly but be warned we do have a large dog (very friendly)! We have power to support smaller 20amp campers with water and a dump station.
An outdoo shower will be available in July 2024.

My fiancé, our dog, and I had the best time tent camping on Travis’s land. He was extremely welcoming, which made our stay that much better. Travis was also very communicative and his directions made finding the site easy as pie. We weren’t entirely sure what to expect as first time Hipcampers, but I don’t think we will ever tent at a state park again. It was so quiet and peaceful! Needless to say, the next time we make it down to the Ozarks, we will be tenting here again!!

The campground was clean and in a quiet country setting. Steve was very nice and called us a few minutes after we arrived to if we had any questions. Definitely follow Steve's directions to get to the campsite. We made the mistake of following Google's directions on our way in. Didn't do that again! Other times of year, the scene is much more relaxed. The stocked river is the focal point of this mid-Missouri park, but campers can enjoy a range of activities, including paddling and hiking. The surrounding hills rising above the river valley remind visitors they are in the Missouri Ozarks, providing an epic landscape to explore. Accommodations include cabin rentals, a lodge, and several campgrounds, with various amenities.

When to go
March is one of the most popular times, as anglers are eager to toss a line after the long winter season, but camping reservations may be the hardest to snag, particularly for March 1. Early spring is chilly, but temperatures warm in April and May. The summer months may be hotter and more humid, with the waters of the Niangua River offering a refreshing break. Fall is particularly scenic, as the surrounding hills erupt with color. One campground is open through the winter, providing limited services. Campers need to prepare for cold temperatures and occasional bouts of snow.
Know before you go
- The seven-mile Natural Tunnel Trail is a rugged adventure, leading to an impressive natural tunnel.
- A variety of shorter trails are also offered, with scenic backgrounds.
- An onsite restaurant is located in a historic 1930s lodge built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
- The Niangua River is popular for float trips during the summer, with paddling, canoeing, and rafting.
