The Lost Dutchman Italian Bar Camp is a 160 acres of Priviately Owned Patented Mining land and our priviate campground located in the Stanislaus National Forest and on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, which runs through the camp. Camping is available on both side of the river making the Italian Bar camp a destination for campers since we rebuilt the camp from the ground up in the late 1970’s. The L3 Ranch was founded in 1974 when my grandfather bought the property for his show cows.  In 1978, someone gave him a racehorse to pay off a debt. From then on, the property was known for its Quarter horse race horses, with some of the best in the state being born right here. In 2013 he found our he had cancer and handed the ranch down to me, Travis.  While he survived the cancer, he's happy in retirement playing cards with his buddies every week and hanging out with his dog.Now the ranch is known for its horse boarding, cattle, and goats. We even hold weddings and events at the lake sometime.  My main goal is to bring the ranch in a more in line with sustainable ranching. Its a process, but I love what I am doing, and where the ranch is going.

Learn more about this land. Creek cabin is no longer avaliable. Very remote off grid barn with an outhouse, vegetable garden, fruit trees, and small vineyard that I make wine from. There's a creek that runs through the property with Indian grinding holes. We also have volleyball, horseshoes, hiking trails, and much more! You will be in gold country where you can still find gold in the creek to this day! If you're lucky, you might find some pickers and fines. The nights are absolutely stunning for viewing the stars with no light pollution. You will have almost complete privacy, with the exception of an occasional over head aircraft. The skies are dark, nature is abundant, and our funky little farm is a fun place to stay. 🤙😎 This is a burgeoning homestead where we specialize in cut flowers and grow a little food. When available we offer bouquets/eggs/veggies as an add-on. There are a few different listings, so make sure to read the details on your specific listing! The “Main” Driveway: -Soup Kitchen -The Magic Bus Second Driveway: -1 Pine Car Camping -2 Pine Walk-in Camping The Soup is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine. The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. There are plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent. **if you are a teacher or Pacific Crest Trail hiker let us know! We are happy to offer a discount :)

For this reason, we ask all campers to be mindful about storing food and disposing of trash in the provided bins. The ranch is comprised of the camping lawns, camping facilities, several homes on the property (two Air BnB and the owner's home) and the motorcycle workshop. Car and RV campers are welcomed and there is plenty of car/RV parking on the asphalt lot outside the fence at the East Side of the property near the mailboxes at the intersection of Rte 4 and Brice Station Road. Our grassy lawn tent area is inaccessible to vehicles and RVs. Our parking area is adjacent to the highway and may not be what rooftop and van/rv campers are expecting in terms of a peaceful camping experience. If you have tent, it’s recommended to camp out on the lawn. We have tents for rent if you need one.

We really enjoyed this campground. It was very unique, private and yet close to town. We would highly recommend it to all!!! Our family was able to camp right beside us and all the grandkids enjoyed the box of games and exploring, we also played horseshoes and watched the abundent wildlife in this natural setting. 10 Stars from all of us!!!

We had the best time camping here with family. It is so unique and so beautiful. Very private! We enjoyed watching all the animals and even had a deer come through the camp. We would highly recommend squirrel rock campground. We enjoyed playing horseshoes and hide and seek with the grandkids!

We’re nuts about it! What a great place to stay! Easy access and parking. Beautifully landscaped and so interesting. Julie was so welcoming and communication was wonderful. Exactly as described…actually…better! Goes above and beyond for a campground….Games, campfire, covered picnic area, horseshoe pits, clean gravel, no dirt…the list of all the little touches goes on! Very private. We would stay again!

We absolutely LOVED staying here. It was our own little paradise! Julie was so welcoming and kind and we felt right at home here. The outdoor grill and fire pit was such a wonderful addition as well as the games! I cannot recommend this place enough and we can’t wait to come back one day and explore the town more.

5 nights at Green Acres slip

We enjoyed this lovely spot for five days. We had busy days, and it was unseasonably hot. So late afternoon in the breezy shade of the oak tree, reading my book, was a just wonderful. After a few weeks of being on the road, I really appreciated doing laundry. Also, the two kitties are very friendly.

This is 2nd time at this campground, so perhaps it goes without saying that I think it's awesome!! I decided to do a little mini solo camp out and felt safe/secure the whole time on my own. Water, electricity, and wifi all worked great during my stay. The campsite has a gravel base, so if towing a heavier rig, best to use 4-wheel drive. Such a special spot and close to fun things like Columbia historic park and just a short drive to Sonora. I also did some great hiking just a 10 minute drive away.
