The campsite is a twenty minute stroll to the nearby 160m tall Ellenborough Waterfall. For those really wanting a workout you can descend the stairs to the bottom and muscle your way back up. Swimming is possible at waterholes top and bottom. Blue Knob Forest look out is around 30 minutes drive - with 360 degree views it is an amazing spot to go for a picnic.
NOTES: If weather is repeatedly wet then paddock can be a problem for 2 wheel drives! Please advise your vehicle type(s) to help determine if we should accept your booking.
The REFUND Policy: cancellations more than 24 hours before check-in (midday) receive a 100% refund. But realise that your booking means others cannot book in time should you cancel less than 24hrs prior to check-in and we make plans to be here when you book rather than go enjoy the beach for example. So cancellations less than 24hrs before check-in mean: Any refund - or part thereof - is at our discretion considering factors like holiday season and length of booking and how far we travelled to be at the site waiting for you. Thank you for understanding
ACCESS ROUTES: Access from the Pacific Highway is either:
BEST ACCESS (from the Southeast)
exit at Taree, then Wingham, then Elands via Bulga Rd
If Bulga Rd is blocked; Wingham, Northeast via Comboyne Rd (Killabakh), Wingham Rd, Colling Rd, Elands.
(from the Northeast) exit at Wauchope exit (West bound on Oxley Highway) through Wauchope then onto Comboyne Rd, Byabarra, Comboyne, Wingham Rd, Colling Rd, Elands. If Oxley Highway blocked then next exit at Kew and head West through Kendall, Lorne Rd, Comboyne, Wingham Rd, Colling Rd, Elands.
If this route is blocked then head South to Taree (see above)
Also from Wingham, for a slightly longer yet very scenic drive, one can head North West out through Wherrol Flat, then Big Run, Dingo Tops, Knodingbul Rd, Padmans Rd to Elands. Best part of 2 hours but worth the drive. Can be logging trucks so nice to have a CB in your vehicle to listen out for them. Handy on all forest roads that one.
One can access Elands from the Oxley Highway (North of Elands, around Gingers Creek) but the road through the forest is long (best part of an hour) and news on its status is slow - there may be trees down - so if not driving a 4wd and toting a chainsaw you may be blocked.Â

Perfect place to find solitude in nature. Beautiful creek to swim in and a tranquil view from the camp site. Thanks Damon.

Damon was a wealth of knowledge an was about to give us some great local tips. Red Deer Hills was a great place for us to spend the night. Off-grid perfection.
Damon was very friendly and welcoming despite arriving in a massive thunderstorm :)
Great views from the site and the cool creek waters were a delight in the hot day. Thanks again for having us :)

This spot was absolutely sensational with an amazing and very accomodating host, the site is beautiful with lots of wildlife and peaceful serene surroundings, the host was always up for a great chat with awesome stories but also gave you your space to make you feel like you were in the middle of no where but still without losing all the facilities, will definitely go back again

Thanks for the kind words. Glad you got the getaway you wanted. Look forward to your return.
We just returned from our stay, the rain was unrelenting so our holiday was very very wet. However the beauty of this site with an amazingly beautiful creek to swim in and a raging Ellenborough falls a short 2ks down the road and a beautiful swimming hole at the top of the falls delighted us...Damon was very helpful and accomodating too..:)

Great place in some amazing natural Bush land. The water falls are only a short walk away and worth a look at. Damon was very hospitable and lively to deal with.
