Bring your fishing gear and cast a line into our well-stocked pond. A table, fire rings, wood, and a smoker grill for cooking are provided for your use. We're in town, but you'll feel like you're secluded in the country so you get the convenience of being close to downtown Baldwin, just 3 minutes away, while also feeling like you're in the middle of nowhere peacefully camping, just you and the birds. Our "glamper" is a 1960's retro camper that has been fully restored. The outside still looks very retro, but when you step inside you'll instantly surrender to the relaxation that awaits. Come reconnect with nature and rejuvenate by the water at this unforgettable escape. Stargaze, watch sunsets, or curl up and read on the 15 foot hammock by the water. You’ll see lots of wildlife-ducks, geese, a great blue heron, deer, and more have been spotted by the pond.
The pond is about an acre in size and we also own the hay field south of the pond all the way to the road. You are welcome to walk around the pond on the path we’ve mowed and can also walk the field (depending on the time of year). It’s a hay field and you’ll see all sorts of vegetation growing up, including some beautiful wildflowers in the spring.
The RV spot is in a large grassy area next to an apple and peach tree. We also have a small asparagus patch and a raised bucket garden with tomatoes. Feel free to grab a couple items to add to your dinner as needed (depending on the season).
We do have barn cats (and frequently kittens) that might venture over to say hello and a new puppy named Pepper. Pepper loves new people, but wears a collar connected to an electric fence outside, so he won’t be able to reach your rv spot. However, you are more than welcome to walk to him and give him all the love and snuggles. We also have three children that you may see outside climbing trees, reading in homemade hammocks, or playing cabbage ball in the yard.
For the explorers, there are plenty of gravel roads to bike, kayaks and a paddleboat available for the pond. There is also an apple orchard up the road that has a small storefront and a mini golf course in the back. Emporia is only 4 miles south of us so there’s plenty of grocery stores and restaurants nearby.

I live on-site, along with several horses, sheep, chickens, and barn cats. It’s a homestead in progress. You are welcome to pet the horses, walk out into the pasture, and enjoy a slice of country life.

Had we known there was such a place as the Geist Farm, we would never have wasted time camping at state parks or campgrounds. This place is as close to nature as you can ever find, without the nightly sounds of loud strangers around a campfire 20 yards away, slamming car doors in the middle of the night, car alarms at midnight, or sitting around an early morning campfire with dozens of other similar campfires in close proximity. There’s just one campsite here. It’s serene. It’s beautiful. They have mowed walking trails through the woods, have a well stocked pond of catfish (catch & release), a campfire area, plenty of room to set up your tarp shelter and tents, and a bathroom and shower not too far away. It’s as close to the perfect campsite as you can ever get. Most importantly, the Geists are kind consummate professionals. They make the perfect camping experience easy. Give their camping home-away-from-home a try. You will not regret it.

Great spot after visiting the Tallgrass Prairie National Reserve. Rustic with nice touches and flare. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

This is a true hidden gem!
I hesitate to leave an honest, positive review because I would prefer the place stay just the way it is.
Beautiful, peaceful lake with great fishing and awesome camping sites.
Not the best choice for swimming, though. The bottom of the lake is covered in a deep layer of squishy mud.

We loved tent camping here! The land is spacious and beautiful, especially the millions of fireflies that came out at night. The hosts were not home when we arrived so their parents greeted us so warmly and made us feel comfortable and safe. The barn with toilet and shower were a huge plus too! Would absolutely recommend.

About
Spend 30 minutes or several hours at Monroe Elementary School. You'll learn all about the pivotal U.S. Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (1954). The ruling changed America's national and social policy. It provided the legal framework for dismantling racial segregation in public schools.
Monroe was one of the four segregated schools for African Americans in Topeka. Exhibits located throughout the building tell the story of school segregation. The historic site commemorates this major victory in the Civil Rights Movement.
Start in the auditorium, where the film "Race and the American Creed" traces the history of racism and segregation. Photos, interpretive media and seven short films show the hardships the black community faced until the 1954 U.S. Supreme Court decision.
The Struggle Continues exhibit explores the Civil Rights Movement that followed in the wake of the Brown decision. See the former kindergarten room restored to its 1954 appearance. The whole building is perfectly preserved, and the Rangers are eager to educate. While the information is plentiful, it's well organized so you don't feel overwhelmed.
Catch some air by stepping outside onto the historic school playground. Toss a Frisbee, fly a kite, and relax in the shade over a picnic lunch. Nearby Cushinberry Park offers a basketball court and playground equipment along with barbecue grills. Walk or bike down Landon Trail just off the site's parking lot.
