The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be.

River's Edge on the Canal

Gorgeous access to the river!

Space was beautiful. Right next to the river and was a delight to swim in. The provided tent was everything we needed, as well as all the utensils provided. Most of our large group had not camped before and we were accommodated perfectly. From the chairs set up to the plating and kitchen utensils to the propane grill, which helped tremendously. The owner even came out to make sure our group fit comfortably. Access to the river was our whole groups favorite part. There is ample parking for many cars if needed. We will be back! Thank you for hosting us!

The Perfect Little Oasis

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice the campsite was set up! The views were incredible and we had everything we needed right there in our little oasis. From cooking and grilling utensils to a fan in our tent to use at night. I loved sitting up by the firepit reading while watching my fiance fish down by the river. Very peaceful. Thomas was also very helpful and communicative, even giving us a ride up the road to do some tubing down the river and making sure we got back safe. We also loved The Outpost, a cool little local spot with great food and live music some nights.

Forest Overlook

Thomas was an excellent host ! He helped us start a campfire in the rain after we were struggling and saved the evening. The site was private and secluded and had everything there you needed to cook and set up camp . My two boys and husband enjoyed camping as well. We would stay again in the future

Kids’ first camping exp a success

Beautiful spot right on the river. It was just enough of rustic charm with creature comforts that made my daughters’ first camping experience a success. They were hesitant about the toilet, but quickly adjusted. The tree canopies and covered dining area did a great job shielding us from brief spouts of rain. Thomas and Katie were very helpful during our stay. Would definitely go again.

Great site!

Everything was set up so nicely and was truly in such a perfect location, far enough away from the other sites that you have privacy but close enough that you’re not alone. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy this site again!
