I really wanted to like this site because I was excited to camp near the beach, but the experience did not match the price of $70 for one night.
Access was difficult. The site is down a shared driveway, and an active construction crew with heavy equipment blocking the entrance when I arrived. I had to wait for them to move. I don’t blame the host for the construction itself, but advance notice would have been appreciated.
The setup was also not what I expected. I thought I was choosing between two separate sites, but they are essentially two areas divided by a small swampy stream. The “beach” was very shallow and the water was extremely murky/muddy—not water I would feel comfortable swimming in. There were a fire ring, grill and chairs, but also random boats and other items that made the area feel cluttered.
The two porta-potties near the site were extremely dirty, with lots of spiders, flies and a strong odor. There is apparently a bathroom/shower across the street, but the building was unmarked and looked abandoned from the outside. The host’s video showing it appeared outdated, so I didn’t realize it was available until the next morning.
While setting up my tent alone, I was also uncomfortable with construction workers repeatedly walking near my campsite and watching me. They may not have intended any harm, but as a woman camping alone, it made me uneasy.
For nearly $70, I expected cleaner, better-maintained facilities and a more accurate description.
