Shivering Timbers is a lovely, quiet campground. The sites are flat and open but somehow each site is secluded by pine trees. It is just 3 miles from Lower Tequamenon Falls to the West and 7 miles from Paradise to the East. Each site has a campfire 'ring' and Tim sells wood. We would highly recommend this campground.

Tim was our first experience with Hipcamp. If Tim is an example of what we can expect from other hosts (after careful scrutiny), we will be loyal customers. Tim, if you see these comments, please pass on a suspicious event to Hipcamp management----The VERY day we signed up with Hipcamp, our cell phone was bombed for about 10 days with spam calls. Finally, by blocking each call, it suddenly returned to the usual level of junk phone calls. Perhaps Hipcamp was hacked???

Weekend Trip to Tiki Hut Yurts

The yurts were SO cute! The lights were gorgeous and the bathrooms were way more than I expected (a full private bathroom!). The space heater kept us VERY cozy. We were far away enough from our neighbors that we didn’t see or hear anyone else at night. Everything here was great and we highly recommend staying here!!

Owner was easy to reach. Site is nice and quiet. Neighbors are close but we never heard or saw them. Easily backed our 40 ft class A into site with enough space for two cars and our dolly. Had a nice campfire with wood that was provided. Beautiful location. Could even hear the waves of Lake Superior on a choppy evening.

You truly are sitting lakefront. I sat on a couple of boulders and just watched the waves. So incredibly peaceful. Instructions were clear and directions were easy to follow. One thing I will note is that you truly are rural - there is a grocery store and a few food options, but it's limited. Of you are an early riser, know that many of the food establishments open later. The site is absolutely gorgeous. I simply could not have asked for a better experience.

I loved the view! Granted it was very windy the day I stayed there so that’s something to consider since your by lake. Very easy to get to the site and overall pretty clean. Had some clutter here and there but not a big deal. My only major critique is one, maybe put stone down on the path to the beach because it had really deep ruts and it was very muddy. I got my car stuck quite a few times. The other is the shower water did not really get warm. Again, not the end of the world but addressing those few things would make the site even better than it already is. Overall I’d give it an 8/10

Weekend Trip to Shivering Timbers Family Campground

The state park pales in comparison to the this wonderful campground! Stephanie and her family put love into what they do and it shows. The grounds were so well kept, the atmosphere was relaxing, and Stephanie was warm and welcoming! She shared stories, local treasures to go see, and was a delight to talk about life with. Her kids help around the camp and have the best firewood service I’ve seen!! This is a rustic campground (which we prefer. It keeps the normies away), but they have well kept porta potties and if you need a shower the state park is a few minutes down the road and offers showers for cheap. All around, this is a fantastic family environment that is growing beautifully! We will never go back to the crowded state park after finding this gem!

Absolutely awesome campsite! The location couldn’t be better—close to the ferry for easy access to Drummond Island, yet tucked away enough to feel completely private and peaceful. The views of Lake Huron and Strawberry Island are absolutely beautiful and make this spot even more special. The host was outstanding—friendly, responsive, and an excellent communicator. Everything exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be back!

This place was awesome! We were able to park right where we could see the boats coming from the Soo Locks. We hooked up to the electric and filled jugs at the water spicket provided. We did not hook up our water. We only saw one area for water. We definitely enjoyed our stay. The little market down the road wasn’t expensive. We even bought tortillas there!

Perfect spot to explore the area, just 5 minutes to Mackinaw City and the bridge, Todd was very accommodating, allowing 2 RV’s to stay. 45’ truck/trailer(need to back in-no issues) and. 25’ Class C. Site has power (50/30/20) and very nicely fixed up just like your backyard deck. Couldn’t ask for a nicer place to return to after a day of exploring.

We offer 4 primitive tent/van/small RVs to park on spacious sites in private spots surrounded by state land. Our boys sell firewood, delivered to your site! We can be your headquarters for all attractions that will make your stay enjoyable. Located only 5 minutes from Lower Falls State Park, 10 minutes from Upper Falls, we have a variety of trails, river access and lakes to get you going on a nice hike or a relaxing afternoon of fishing. Rustic it may be but the use of quiet generators are allowed and we are pet friendly. We have a community field with games and a fire pit to use. Self-contained trailers are welcome (no hookups yet). Jasper Moss is a glamping retreat experience located on the remote Bois Blanc Island, Michigan, where you can unplug, rest, retreat and rejuvenate while surrounded by untouched nature. There is basic electric access for a bedside light, fan, and charging of electronics as needed. The outdoor kitchen is fully screened in, and offers basic amenities for communal use, such as a refrigerator, grill, gas burner and griddle, toaster oven, coffee maker, and basic utensils, dishes, pots, and pans. This is a rustic campsite without facilities or electricity. This property borders the South Charlotte River. It is in a very private location. You can drive into the camping area. We are located 12 miles south of Sault Ste Marie 1/3 mile west of M-129 on 12 Mile Road. It is a dirt road. The entrance is on the left or south side of the road. The property is good for either tent camping or a parking place for RVs. There is a new driveway that leads to the camping or parking areas. You can drive on the grass to get to the campsite. The campsite area is 50 yards from the road. You can set up anywhere in the cut grass area. There will be two white chairs and a garbage can. A small camp porta potty is available for your use.

The Norton Nook campsites are perfect for off-grid boondocking or pitching a tent. Small Sprinter-style vans or adventure motorcycles are welcome. We offer two campsites on 100 secluded acres with lots of privacy. Site 1: The Beaver Dam site is more open with a good breeze and a fantastic view of the active large Beaver Pond. This spot is only accessible with a Subaru, Jeep, Truck, or four-wheel drive Sprinter van. Site 2: The Woods site is just that, in the woods with lots of Pine and Aspen trees. Accessible with any vehicle. The property is located right off U-23, 7 Miles from Mackinaw City. Bring your bikes and ride from camp to Mackinaw City (7-8 miles) on the Northeastern Bike Trail. The Barbara Hoffius Nature Preserve is only a half-mile away and has great trails to the beach. These simple campsites are PACK IN PACK OUT. We don’t have any services. There is the Mackinaw Straits roadside park one mile west which has well water and a public bathroom. Table and chairs and a fire pit are provided. Feel free to scavenge for deadfall firewood. Please don’t cut any trees down for any reason. Also, check with the DNR for fire risk. Do not burn during high risk of fire. The location can't be beaten, if you want to visit the Mackinaw Area but need space from the crowds. It will not disappoint.
