Family Camping Hidden Gem!

Second time camping here with 2 kids & a dog - AWESOME experience. First time around (early July, site 3) there were factor s outside host control that affected our enjoyment, but we gave it another chance and SO GLAD we did! Angela was awesome following up with our previous concerns, and her husband Matt even stopped by our site to check in with us and ensure we were happy. He also shared some useful fishing tips AND gifted my son a great lure from his personal collection! Truly awesome hosts, and the campsite was quiet and clean. The portapotty's were well-stocked, and I felt very safe, even with my son who has autism. Will definitely be returning AND recommending to friends and family!

Site 3 - Old Mill Tent and Hammock Camping

I paid for wood to be delivered to my campsite. We had to borrow from neighbors, we called left mssge ( never called back) and spoke to staff working the boat rentals. Who informed us they were swamped. We got wood well after dark when it was time to go to bed. Also fireworks were set off and when we asked them to stop for medical they said nope call 911. My camp mate has vertigo and child in next camp was autistic. When I called camp owner only to be told not our property nothing we can do. Why would you not have communication with property owners of the land that borders you campgrounds? That you rent for people looking to escape noise, geez?

Would Return On Slow Weekend

There were circumstances (some uncontrollable) that might prevent us from returning. Never again on holidays *for sure*. PROS: Beautiful remote campground; spacious shaded sites; river views & access; large field & portapottys nearby. CONS: "Leave it better" policy clearly not followed, as we cleaned up lots of trash. The only two trash cans were overflowing when we arrived. One portapotty was out of supplies. Holiday weekend maintenance was probably difficult for owners. NEIGHBORING PROPERTY ISSUES: Owners of neighboring field brought massive fireworks party at sundown; I have a nervous dog & autistic child and we came here to escape this crap in the city. It was horrendous, for the better part of an hour, and was close enough that my car had empty shells & ash on it in the am. WARNING: if your dog is off-leash, do NOT let it explore adjacent property (the old river house with rooftop deck). My dog was gone 5min and came back COVERED IN HUMAN EXCREMENT. Not a smudge or faint smell, completely covered. I don't know what happened but he's been camping off leash for years and we've never experienced anything like that.

Plenty of space. Easy to find and get to. We typically are only at the site for sleeping, and it was perfect for that; however, it looked like there was plenty of other stuff to do if you wanted to spend an afternoon wildlife-watching.

The property that this camp is on is beautiful! There are lots of trees and a river right along the campsites. Each site has its own sturdy picnic table and fire pit. The owners brought by firewood just like they said they would. Our only concern, and unfortunately it was a big one, was that there is no buffer space between camp sites and it felt like the people in the next campsite were right on top of us. They stayed up all night talking by the campfire.....and we could hear every word. I wish there was some space between sites.

Absolutely fantastic! My family and I spent 3 days and 2 nights at Old Mill site 1. The other sites were also booked for the eclipse and we still had a peaceful trip as there is ample space between and only 8 campsites total. The site itself is spacious and has a VERY large field adjacent to let the children run free. Even our bunny had a blast hopping around. If I had to find anything bad, it would be that the portapots are in fact portapots, lol. That said they were as clean as a portapot can be. We have already booked for our next trip, this place is wonderful.

I absolutely loved this site it was peaceful and beautiful my entire family had the time of their lives here my only complaint was the portapotty was never cleaned and the trash cans ended up over flowing by day 3 I do plan to go back though was amazing definitely recommend

Right on the river with plenty of trees to hang a hammock. It would be a great place to go with a few friends since the sites are close together. The porta-potty is conveniently located.

Beautiful place to camp. Directions were very clear, view is very pretty camped solo and was worried about safety, campsites are close to each other and campsite is also near some houses, which helped me feel safer and beautiful property and nice flat ground for a tent. Comes with a nice little fire pit And lots of natural wood around the area if you don’t bring any. Owner also saw that I had booked a flooded site and then let me choose any site I would like which was very kind. Overall great experience beautiful little river and would come again 10 out of 10.

Peaceful, but not private

Nice location nestled between the river and a field. Campsites are mostly shaded under the tree canopy. I camped Sunday to Tuesday and only saw one other person who left as I arrived. Peaceful, though the lawnmowers were out Tuesday midday. I did see 3 beavers playing and numerous hawks, Jays, etc. I heard calls of the coyotes and owls at night. Two PortaPotties, very clean and stocked with hand sanitizer and spare TP rolls. Little to no cellphone service (LTE, 1-bar on AT&T). Sites are close together with no barriers between sites. My site, #5, had some litter scattered about, incl cigarette butts and cellophane wrappers; the fire pit needed emptying. As advertised, there was no water available (potable or not). No firewood available for purchase (Angela told me this in advance.) I didn’t meet Angela or anyone else; again, Angela told me she wouldn’t be there.

Love the tent site. Site 1 &2 is closest to the potty place so it is kinda loud from time to time when people close the door. Very close to river, you can paddle board easy. Lovely nature. Will definitely come back. Thank you!

My boyfriend and I loved camping there! It is nice and private, beautiful, and the Kayaking down Blue River they help you with is awesome! They are really nice and we felt like we found the peace and relaxation we really needed. I would highly recommend this place!!!

Very nice campground! Shady and good for hammocks, but with enough flat spots for tents. Nice river access with steps leading down to the water. The hosts were very accommodating and responsive to requests. We had a great weekend there!

We had a fantastic time! Well-maintained location, easy to get to, plenty of ideal locations for tents, far enough from the water that it was safe to let our 2 year old run around like a feral child of the woods, and the portajohns were clean! We WILL be returning!

We loved tent camping here and would come back! As promised, there were plenty of great hammock trees and our spot was ideal, with a feeling of seclusion near the woods and a view of the open field, where kids could run and play. Fun place to explore near the river. Next time we would plan to kayak, but it was a great spot either way and a convenient drive from home.

We really enjoyed camping there. Camp site are nice sized. Not too close to the others. Nice country setting. This was are second time there. I’m sure we will be back. The kyak trip was fun too. Angela and Matt are great hosts too

This was such a great campsite! Our first time, will definitely be repeat campers. The hosts were super nice and the firewood bundles available were extremely generous. Plenty of shade and so nice to be able to wake up and sit by the water. Highly recommended!

The site was beautiful and clean. River is small but gorgeous, and was nice to swim in. Lots of wildlife at night, especially raccoons. It was enough to be worth noting, you WILL hear lots of close wildlife all night long.
