This is a neat place to stay. It’s fun to experience a piece of Route 66 and see all the others who stop by to see this place.

Great spot. Safe and quiet. Took some fun pics of the sign. Be sure to add something to the ad-hoc sculpture across the road next to the Karmen Gia. I’ll stop here again for sure.

Such an iconic place to stay!! It’s really beautiful to see the sign and architecture at sunset/sunrise! We felt very safe and all the staff were super friendly and very welcoming! Loved hearing stories about the town and it was nice to have so much open space with dogs.

Nice place for car camping, the gas station & sign is very pretty and the night sky is beautiful. We were the only one camping that night so it was quiet and peaceful. Quite windy and hot at this time of the year though.

Being completely honest, I’ve camped at many many interesting places….but this one gave me the creeps. The host and Roy’s were awesome, but where we camped I personally would not recommend to friends and family. If you have an RV this would be a great place, but for tent camping, I would skip this location. The ground was hard, first off, so it’s just not overall easy to set up a tent. Second, the camping area is across the street from Roy’s at the creepy church. During the day, walking into it I felt weird energy that made me realize I do not want to test it at night. My group ended up driving to Vegas to avoid sleeping here for the night. Again, would recommend for RV camping, but not for tent camping.

Nicole is fantastic. She is utmost helpful and a very loving person. The location is magical especially when at night. It's like travel back in time. Bring your own beer.

Nicole was super kind and helpful always ready to make you feel at home. Plus they have a lovely dog :)

I loved staying at this place. It’s a lovely cafe right beside the famous route 66 and the people are very nice! Absolutely recommend :)

Rooftop tent camping :-)

This was our first time using Hipcam. We wanted to try out our new rooftop tent and 'Roy's Motel and Cafe' was available on short notice. It was exactly as advertised, and we had a nice chat with Nicole and another guest about the history and future of this place along the route 66. If you arrive before 8 or 9pm, you can get a few snacks at the gas station (it has the original pumps :-)!), and there are porta-potties available. We enjoyed our one-night stay and hope to see this place, including the cabins and the cafe, come to full life again soon!

We had a great time car camping at Roy's for a night on our way through across country! The check-in was easy at the station. Lots of history and 1950s nostalgia. Tent camping here might be more difficult since the camping area is a large gravel lot and we did see some broken glass in one area, but car camping was perfect. The sunset/moonrise/sunrise views here were breathtaking.
The site is right near the railroad, so you do hear trains go by at night. Porta potties are available by the gas station and they weren't too bad, but they're a bit of a walk if it was in the middle of the night!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Felt a little like going back in time. We arrived just before sunset and we got the privilege of flipping the switch to turn on the big neon lights.
