Paradise on earth!
Group trip
Without a doubt, this was the most wonderful place we have camped. The host, Dewey, was great about checking in with us every morning to see if we needed anything (firewood, trash emptied, etc). He was lovely and a pleasure to chat with. He and Greg are really living on a piece of paradise.
The pond was amazing. I brought a book to read during the day, but every time I started to read, I would quickly get distracted with watching the wildlife. There were countless bullfrogs, turtles, a mama mallard duck with 9 ducklings in tow, a mama squirrel yelling at us to stay away from her nest (which we weren’t bothering and didn’t even notice till she started yelling at us) and geese having a turf war. It was phenomenal.
We brought our trailer, but our teens both decided to tent camp across the bridge, which was an adventure for them. They had a blast on the pond and the swings that were set up. This is the first trip we’ve taken where they didn’t bicker and argue the entire time, because there was so much room to spread out and so many things to do.
Few notes;
-The fire pit is amazing. We brought firewood, but Dewey let us know that it is a working tree farm and they have more than enough wood available for campers to use. I don’t think it is necessary to bring your own firewood, although you should bring matches.
-It was a tight fit coming into/out of the gate with our 4 door truck and then trailer. We made it, but it was close. This was absolutely my fault. I should have paid closer attention to the trailer limits on the listing. If you have a longer trailer/truck combo, be aware that there is not a lot of room on the main road to swing out and make the gate entrance/exit.
-Lastly, one of the other reviews I read mentioned that the camp was next to a “highway” and that there was road noise. I feel the need to clear this up, there is no highway. It’s a road. A normal, rural road that is not heavily used. It is incredibly quiet at the campground 99.5% of the time.
