    Alexander Ranch est 1984 by Ted Alexander with land that has been in the family over 100 years. Come enjoy the Jewel of the Kansas Red Hills on the award winning Alexander Ranch. Reciepent of numerous awards for Stewardship, Conservation, Habitat Improvement, Water Quality Most recently, the ranch was awarded the prestigious Leopold Conservation Award in 2019 and achieved Certified Bird Friendly status through the Audubon Conservation Ranching Program in 2022. We raise Grass fed, pasture finished cattle, book your stay at the right time and you might get to see some of them up close! (If you would like some beef, I would be happy to sell you some of my private stock! Just ask!)

    Nice little camp site right off the highway. Excellent fishing, good swimming. A short hike downstream takes you to an active sinkhole where the creek disappears into the ground. Although you are close to the highway, there is virtually no traffic after dark, less than two cars per hour .Last Adult Bald Eagle sighting was 5 December 2022

    Falcon Pond

    Probably one of the best spots on the ranch. All my friends and family love to come here to camp and fish. Everyone falls in love with this spot. Built by my father in late 1980's, this is the largest pond on the ranch, it's been well stocked with Channel Cat, Small Mouth Bass and a Hybrid Bluegill. In the cooler months there's often a flock of ducks to greet you in the morning. Originally designed as a runoff catchment, it wasn't meant to stay full as they believed that the springs above we dry. Between 2014 and 2018 I spent a significant amount of time and money restoring this part of the ranch to a much more natural state. After many hours in heavy machinery and a lake of diesel fuel the springs are running again (when we aren't in D4 drought anyway) The pond gets its name from an old Ford Falcon that my dad drug down to the bottom for fish habitat, not because we've seen any Falcons around. This has never been offered to the public, and I have always been very picky about whom I choose to share this spot with. Enjoy the view from the SW corner bluffs in the shade of some Burr Oak trees, I spent a lot of time doing hand work clearing out the brush and cedars. This listing not for the cabin in the pictures. The cabin is private and off limits.

    The property was absolutely beautiful and Brian was very polite and accommodating! I highly recommend Jug Springs for anyone visiting the Gypsum Hills who wants to experience camping in the Great Plains.

    Very nice place just off the Red Hills Scenic Byway (US 160). You are a stone's throw from the highway, but it is very quiet at night! Brian also offers a lot more than just the camping and the tour -- wish I had known about farm fresh eggs and beef before I loaded up for my trip!

    The site was very pretty and the host went above and beyond! It is next to a scenic byway but i was not woken up at night by traffic noise. Sunset here is particularly lovely!

    This is a very primitive but beautiful site. I found it to be a nice surprise and would definitely visit again. Also there is a great place to relax in a hammock if you bring one.

    Easy in and out location for our off road set up. Quiet at night even though you are close to the road. Found a shaded area to camp which helped with the 105 degree heat.

    Gypsum Hills Hideaway

    Great little spot in the Gypsum Hills of Kansas! We have a rooftop tent, so it was a little tricky to find level ground, but found a spot overlooking the pond. There was a rain storm that blew in overnight, but the camp spot does provide some protection from the wind. Great view to wake up to in the morning!

    Camp on Gypsum Hills Scenic Byway

    This site is on a beautiful ranch in a part of Kansas I had never seen before, the gypsum hills. The highway that it’s on is designated a scenic byway, with good reason. The spot where I camped was under some trees near a natural pond, peaceful and quiet and very pretty. As it happened, the monarch butterflies were migrating through and spent the night on the trees that I was camping under! Brian met with me after I arrived, and gave some suggestions to where I could park my teardrop camper, which was super helpful. I highly recommend Brian’s land as a place to stop over when traveling through Kansas. Who knew it was so beautiful?

    It was awesome! I had no idea the "gypsum hills" existed. Great space and we had a blast. The amount of fireflies was out of this world. We had a 4 wheel drive Subaru and a 17 foot camper... I wouldn't recommend staying here in anything longer than 21ft due to the limited amount of area to turn the camper around at the bottom. Brian checked on us several times and was a very gracious host. No one for miles to even hear our generator.
