I am proud to be a fourth-generation caretaker of this farm and surrounding acreage. My great-grandfather purchased this land in 1921 and since then, my family has been farming the best way that we knew how. For the last 30 years, that has meant a divergence from traditional farming practices to focus on regenerative farming-- farming that focuses on enriching the health of the soil and the animals instead of depleting it. On our farm, we raise beef, lamb, pigs and chickens and they all live out on pasture. In our farm store we sell meat, eggs, and raw, all-grass dairy products like milk, butter, cheese, kefir, and yogurt. Our customers drive from all parts of central Kansas to shop at Jako Farm because our food is different than food in the grocery store. We call it JakoPure food. Not only do we share our life-giving, gut-restoring food with others, but we want to share the experience of our farm, too. That's why we've started hosting guests on hipcamp so that you can truly experience what's special about our farm. Each location provides a unique perspective on our farm, and you'll engage a different part of our story at each place. But wherever you stake your temporary claim at Jako Farm, we hope you experience the peace and rest that we know and love. Learn more about this land: Jako Farm is a working regenerative farm, and this campsite provides an easy view of all that goes on here. The cows and sheep will graze near by while the chickens scratch in the distance. You'll see the farmers moving the animals to new pasture and the llama playing games with the sheep. If you're up at sunrise, you'll see Ken bringing the cows up to the barn for milking (April through November). Its pretty quiet here, except for the subtle noises of wildlife. (Fair warning: if you're in a tent, you will probably hear the milking machine kick on at 6:30am.) We're also proud to be a smell-free farm because all animals live out on pasture. There are killer sunrises and sunsets here. If you're lucky, you'll also see our resident bald eagle pair soaring through the sky. A bathroom with shower is available for your use in the barn nearby. Please be respectful of farm operations, although we're always open to answering questions if you see us around. Farm Tours are not included with a booking.

Really beautiful setting. The family were all very helpful and accommodating! Bathroom with shower was a plus! Not to mention Ollie, the farm dog, who gave us a walking tour down to the Arkansas River and slept outside our RV for some extra security. Highly recommend this gem!

Gorgeous Farm Views!

This was a beautiful place! Easy to get in and easy to set up! We found some wonderful items at the farm store and have already enjoyed them! Cool breezes even in the hot summer months. Totally recommend this - we will stay again for sure!

Great hipcamp/hosts...perfect spot

We loved it all. A beautiful, peaceful, perfect spot. The close bathroom is a plus...picnic table, fire ring and wood supplied. Loved the farm, animals and the organic farm store is so impressive...Can't wait to try your products. Definitely recommend.

My first Hipcamp experience was delightful. This is a nice grassy campsite by the silo and trees. It's a working farm, which isn't a bother, rather a pleasant pastoral setting. The clean and nicely stocked bathroom is accessed through the farm store which is stocked with a variety of nutritious farm fresh products and some souvenirs. Daniel's sister has painted a variety of wholesome murals to enjoy, including on the back of the bathroom door. Daniel was easy to communicate with by email and phone for detailed coordination.

Starry Night Sky

Our stay at the silo was picture perfect. Shooting stars under the night sky, Ollie the resident farm dog and an awesome farm store! Be sure to try their Kiefer pops and Vanilla Greek Yogurt. Wonderful, kind family.

This stay was last minute for us. We were able to buy dinner from the farm store on the property. We were greeted by Ollie ( family dog) he hiked to the Arkansas river with us and never left our side. Ollie hung out by the fire and slept outside our tent all night long. The bugs were nice and loud. I will be scheduling a trip every year on my way out west and back. * side note even though the owner was on vacation they were responsive and someone was on the property to help and answer any questions. This was our first Hipcamp and we were very impressed. Thank you.

The camp site was very maintained and the farm owners were incredibly generous. There was a large storm brewing, and thankfully they were able to help us find a location that would make setting up camp much more comfortable in the midst of the storm. The farm also features a store where you can purchase dairy and meat products they make at the farm. I would definitely recommend the location because my stay here was superb.

Pure Rural Kansas Living

Absolutely amazing! I’ve been traveling and camping for years and this is one of the best sites. It is peaceful, organized, and we experienced wonderful hospitality from the property owner. They were excellent at communicating and our camper van had a perfect spot overlooking the fields. The cows do get milked early, but we were up already and it only added to the cultural experience. Pictures do not do this place justice. If you’re even somewhat close, it is worth the diversion to experience pure Kansas rural living.

It was wonderful . Everyone was friendly and willing to answer any questions. We got up early to watch the cows being milked. Later we walked out to the pasture where they grazed and then to the field where the chicken coops sat. We bought wonderful yogurt and cream for our breakfast. After a week of traveling with our grandchildren the 4 year old asked if we could go back to this farm. We will try to get that way again.

We loved the Jako Farm. It was the perfect place to plug in our camper van and enjoy the beautiful view of the farm. It was nice to feel like we had the place to ourselves. An added plus was waking up to a beautiful sunrise, and watching my daughter watch the cows getting milked. Highly recommend if you’re stopping through Kansas.

If only I had a skillet or grill

What a great host. Daniel was there to greet me when I arrived. I wish I could have spent more time to see the working of the farm and store. Next time I come I will be more prepared to make use of the store. Fresh eggs, meats, milk and cheese, would have made an amazing diner or breakfast. If you are traveling through Kansas this is a must stay. If you are just passing through, this is a must stop. The store alone offers some amazing products you can’t find everywhere.
