Montana Red Devon Ranch

4 sites ¡ RVs, Tents500 acres ¡ Harrison, MT
Montana Red Devon Ranch is owned and managed by Kiril Sabo(age 17), his brother Riley(age 20), and his mother Jenny Kahrl. The boys were raised on the ranch from birth.  We have chosen Red Devon cattle for their history (originally from Devonshire England, Devons arrived in North America with the first English settlers!), their docility, and their gourmet beef.  Our cattle eat only grass, hay, and forages, as Nature intended.  We manage our land to protect wildlife and clean water for all, to improve soils, preserve open space, and feed hundreds of our neighbors.  All our grassfed beef is sold within 50 miles of the ranch. We also have a deep commitment to sharing our love of land and animals with our community, both near and far.  We have hosted international visitors from France, Russia, Japan, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and many many Americans.  Jenny Kahrl speaks French fluently. We hope to share our love of this land and its riches with many visitors, for it is only by knowing where our food originates that we can appreciate each farm and farm family for their work to feed America and the world.

Ponderosa Pine Ranch camp

1 site ¡ RV, Tent6 acres ¡ Three Forks, MT
Learn more about this land: Our property is in a close proximity to the Fairweather Fishing access on the Missouri River. Camping is not allowed at the access so we would be the closest camping site to this great outdoor playground. There is opportunity for fishing, floating, boating, hunting and swimming in the summer. We have about 6 acres available for campsites, either tenting or self-contained campers. There are groves of mature trees and open sites available. This is directly off of paved county road. The property adjacent to ours has the original ranch house and barn and other outbuildings that were part of the Ponderosa Pine Ranch which owned most of the valley we're in. The ranch house and buildings were divided away from our part of the property several years ago, so we have our home here and what was mostly pasture. The campsites are all pasture grass with trees for shade. We do not have cell phone service here. We have a spot that has 30 amp electricity.

The best camping near Lewis And Clark Cavern State Park guide

Overview

About

Montana is for lovers! Rock lovers, that is. This cavernous park is the place to go for some unforgettable limestone exploration. Stalactites, stalagmites, helictites—they’re all here! Plus, the occasional bat sighting is thrown in for spooky measure. Wander through the naturally cool and lighted cavern on a two-hour guided tour, or come back in December for a candlelight tour that will put any sleighride to shame. When you finally leave the awe-inspiring caverns and see the light of day, hiking trails, mile-wide vistas, and plenty of educational exhibits will turn your cave walk into an all-day affair. Hunting, fishing, biking, and bird watching make this park the whole summer package. Spend the night at one of the campsites if you just can’t get enough of those stalactite national treasures!

Notable campgrounds

  • Main Campground: Offers 40 campsites with a mix of amenities, perfect for tent and RV camping amid Montana's rugged beauty.
  • Cabins: Three cozy cabins provide a more secluded and comfortable stay, ideal for those seeking a rustic retreat.
  • Wall Tent: For a unique camping experience, the wall tent offers a charming alternative with scenic views.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early, especially for peak season, as campsites at Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park are in high demand.
  • Check the park's reservation system regularly for cancellations to snag a last-minute spot.
  • Consider visiting during the shoulder seasons when the park is less crowded and reservations are easier to come by.
  • Explore nearby camping options to ensure you have a backup plan in case the park is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park is during the warmer months from May through September when all park facilities are open and tours are in full swing. Winter offers a unique charm with special candlelight tours, but be mindful of limited access and colder weather.

Know before you go

  • Check for any restrictions or closures before your visit, especially if planning to tour the caverns.
  • Remember that cave access is by guided tour only, so book your tickets online in advance.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the cave's wet and slippery conditions.
  • Help conserve bat populations by not wearing clothing previously worn in other caves or mines.
  • Day-use entrance fees apply for nonresidents, and Montana residents with a state parks pass enter for free.
