Machias River Corridor
The Machias River Corridor has 76 miles of wild, cascading rapids. This is a popular backcountry canoe route, and is home to the largest self-sustaining wild Atlantic salmon run in the United States. A portion of the park was named a âGlobally Important Bird Area,â with over 180 bird species. The park contains over 60,000 acres of Machias River watershed, and is also home to moose and bear. Bring your canoe and your binoculars and enjoy a few days at one of the stateâs most cherished waterways.
