This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite! Learn more about this land: Setup camp on the banks of Dorsey creek in Bug Tussle. Wooded area with shade in the warm season. Flat ground for tents or plenty of trees for hammocks. Easy access for vehicles directly to the campsite. Fire ring with grill grates present for cowboy cooking. Peaceful with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife. Primitive toilet present. Rock dam in creek is great to entertain kids, old grist mill site couple hundred yards downstream. Logging and ATV present for hiking and wildlife viewing. This is the only site on the property deep in our own property with one way in and out, so you will not be bothered by anyone or see anyone, unless it's me or my father. FWD is recommended if conditions are wet, otherwise 2WD is fine. There is no mud, but the hills and grass can cause traction issues with street tires. (I've had several vans stay without issues, just be aware the road is not paved). Box with several outdoor reading material and I.D. pamphlets present at site. Please ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer any concerns.

Super fun spot to camp, extremely private & tucked away. Be mindful of your tent placement if rain is in the forecast as half the campsite floods 2-3” of water (found out the hard way!) haha! Makes for a better story later on. The creek is amazing & the drive down into the site is so fun.

Gorgeous dispersed camping spot, with a large flat area easy to drive in. I took a perfect long creek walk with my dog, and didn’t see or hear anything but wildlife. I also love the huge open field nearby, where you can see a billion stars! Probably best to have an AWD/4WD vehicle for the steep gravel road, or at least a bit of clearance, and be sure to look at the directions ahead of time, but the host was very responsive to questions as well.

Fantastic primitive camp site

Fantastic primitive camp site. Secluded on the banks of Doresy Creek in a beautifully shaded woody area where the site is cleaned off and the trails were nicely mowed and well kept. Site has a fir pit and plenty of room for tents and vehicles. The property has abundance of wild life, flora and hiking and exploring opportunities. We had complete privacy the 3 days we stayed. We would definitely like to camp here again.

Matthew's camp site is the perfect place to get away from the noise and demands of everyday life. It is accessible by car and far enough away that we never even heard noise from the highway. The creek water is cool enough to beat the heat even while temps were high 90s. The kids played in the water, walked upstream, and chased minnows. We had a blast!

Hidden Gem!

A beautiful quiet secluded camp site. The trees provide the perfect amount of shade and the sound of the water from the creek was perfect! The campsite is well laid out and very dog friendly! Matthew was very helpful and his YouTube video for the drive into the campsite made getting to the site a breeze. Can’t wait to get my kids out here for another trip!

Beautiful and peaceful spot!

We loved this little piece of paradise. It’s tucked away and private which made it so nice to let our kids and dogs play. The creek was beautiful and we spent a lot of our time exploring the area and examining all of the little critters that called the creek home. The campsite was comfortable and shaded and the sound of the creek flowing was a lullaby as we slept. I would definitely recommend and I hope we get to visit again soon!

Hidden Gem of a Campsite

This site was such a hidden gem! You drove a gravel road pretty far back into their property to a really well laid out little campsite by the water. Would recommend 4wd/awd and come while still light out as it may be hard to navigate at dark. They had a cable already up for my pup and campfire circle set up. We had 5 tents set up and had plenty of room! The pups loved the shallow water and were living their best life. It was right at 50 minutes from Birmingham so it was a super easy distance for our group. Would highly recommend!!

Just what I needed

This easy-to-find, secluded spot is the perfect setting for an enchanting getaway. You’ll find enough room by the beautiful creek to set up any camp size. Cell service wasn’t an issue (AT&T), though we barely used it; there’s enough here to keep you entertained. Make sure you you do some stargazing in the field just above the camp. It’s amazing! Also, if you have an FM radio and position it well, you’ll pick up two of the best classic country music stations I’ve ever heard: 88.5 and 105.7.

Loved it! Perfect quiet secluded primitive site by a cool flowing creek. Bugs were minimum. AT&T had service but T Mobile did not. Contactless checking with easy communication with host if needed. Shaded clearing protects your camp from heat but there are plenty of clearings to get sun and charge solar. We never wanted to leave.

Top notch campspot

16 ft campervan

This spot was perfect for my family, dogs and 16 ft camper. We dry camped in the camper and had no issues. There was plenty of room to turn around and plenty of room at the campsite for the kids to ride their bikes. We went up and down the creek and walked up the big field and looked at the stars. We have camped all over the country and this was by far the cleanest campspot weve ever stayed at. We saw bugs with 4 wings that looked like faries and did alot of cooking. AWESOME PLACE and cant wait to go back. 4wheel drive is needed to pull a camper back up the road in the gravel which was no issues since thats how we roll... thanks again

Great spot and very secluded. Takes a few minutes to get into the camping area but very much worth it. I camped solo but could easily handle a fairly large group comfortably. Looking forward to going back soon!

This site is awesome..totally away from it all.Beautiful creek..fall asleep to the sound of the rapids.Stayed in April..warmer months would be great to get into the water.. Matthew was easy to work with..made sure we got down into the camp with our conversion van

Privacy. Our one must have for our camping. Bug Tussle has it. One of the very few places we’ve found with true privacy combined with easy car access. Plenty of space to set up. Kids loved playing in the creek. Parents loved sitting back and doing nothing. First time will not be last time.

Showed up to a primaries style campsite deep in the woods, well away from any nearby house and tucked away on a river banks! The river was high and flowing! Perfect place to camp and really loved getting to be out there! Will definitely use it again in the future

First time Primitive Camping

This property is very private and secluded. There is a nice little area cleared with a fire ring right next to a beautiful creek with rock wall. The setting was absolutely beautiful and very quiet. It was 4th of July weekend, so we did hear fireworks out in the distance. Other than that the only thing we heard going to sleep were frogs. Leaving the site in the morning we saw rabbits, deer and even a wild turkey with her little baby following. The host is very responsive to messages and gave very clear directions. I highly recommend this site and we plan on booking again in the near future.
