300 acres of family land since 2000. This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite!

Three years ago our multi-generational family decided to go on an adventure. We had talked about moving to the woods for years, but finally decided to turn our dreams into reality. After hiking through what felt like every property for sale over 100 acres in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we finally found the perfect spot.
Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name.
We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley.
Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. We have a porta-potty available, but if you're hiking in, you'll want to bring some WAG bags with you. If you have any questions, or if there’s anything we can do to help, don’t hesitate to ask!

Beautiful tall pines enclose this beautiful site in front of an old public cemetery plot that's rarely visited but has a pathway through the woods for exploring, a circle path we named Panther Path will lead you right back to camp. (The name Panther Path has a story. Basically keep an eye out for black panthers in these parts.) Our family and farm animals live on the property as well (Don't mind the rooster in the AM) but there's plenty of room to pitch a tent, bring your small camper or smaller skoolie (If rig is over 25 feet please message me after booking and we can figure out how to accommodate your rig best before arrival.) There is plenty of room for a couple tents as well if you are traveling as a group, amenities include: a brick fire circle, wood garden set for sitting with small table and some privacy from our family but a lot of privacy from the outside world, the graveyards are free to explore, but if you go in the gated one we ask that you relatch the gate.
Firewood can be ready at your campsite for an additional cost. We have seasonal events as well as a farm stand, a bus shop, and a greenhouse. (These are still projects in progress.)
We have two dogs, Boogie - a male and a very large dog, LGD - Livestock Guardian Dog, her name is Maple. Both dogs are very nice and kind. Maple's job is to protect our ducks and chickens from predators. She will bark but she will not hurt you. She will especially love you if you have treats or say 'Hello, Maple!" We will try to have her put away before bookings if enough notice is given. She will not hurt a human, she knows her job and duty on our homestead but she can be nosy as she runs the perimeter of our property often. If you have a fear of dogs or would like to make sure she is put up just send me a message beforehand and I will make sure she is put away secure. She also will not mind other dogs but please make sure if you bring a pet it is kind to other animals and we expect all pets are leashed at all times unless inside your rig.

300 acres of family land since 2000. This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite!

Three years ago our multi-generational family decided to go on an adventure. We had talked about moving to the woods for years, but finally decided to turn our dreams into reality. After hiking through what felt like every property for sale over 100 acres in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee, we finally found the perfect spot.
Why do we call our property Whippoorwill Woods? Did you know that whippoorwills don’t nest in trees? They lay their eggs on the ground in the forest. They’re birds that love camping! As soon as we heard the whippoorwills start singing in the spring, we knew it was the perfect name.
We’re so excited to share our property with campers who love nature as much as we do. We specifically set up the campsites to give as much privacy as possible. We hope you’ll come visit and soak up the bird songs, the wind in the trees, and the beautiful sunsets over the mountains. We have 20 acres of savannah grassland full of native plants and wildflowers and over 80 untouched acres full of awesome rock formations and creeks with waterfalls available for you to hike. There's a stocked fish pond for catch and release fishing and a gorgeous view overlooking the Cumberland Plateau and the Sherwood Valley.
Experienced and beginner campers are welcome! We live on one side of the property, so we’re available to assist (setting up tents for the first few times is no joke!) or we’re happy to give you as much space and solitude as you need. We have three campsites available in the native savannah grassland, and one that is a "hike-in and choose your favorite spot in the woods" site. We have a porta-potty available, but if you're hiking in, you'll want to bring some WAG bags with you. If you have any questions, or if there’s anything we can do to help, don’t hesitate to ask!

1.3 acre property hidden in small town Glencoe, AL. Beautiful tall pines enclose this beautiful site in front of an old public cemetery plot that's rarely visited but has a pathway through the woods for exploring, a circle path we named Panther Path will lead you right back to camp. (The name Panther Path has a story. Basically keep an eye out for black panthers in these parts.) Our family and farm animals live on the property as well (Don't mind the rooster in the AM) but there's plenty of room to pitch a tent, bring your small camper or smaller skoolie (If rig is over 25 feet please message me after booking and we can figure out how to accommodate your rig best before arrival.) There is plenty of room for a couple tents as well if you are traveling as a group, amenities include: a brick fire circle, wood garden set for sitting with small table and some privacy from our family but a lot of privacy from the outside world, the graveyards are free to explore, but if you go in the gated one we ask that you relatch the gate.
Firewood can be ready at your campsite for an additional cost. We have seasonal events as well as a farm stand, a bus shop, and a greenhouse. (These are still projects in progress.)
We have two dogs, Boogie - a male and a very large dog, LGD - Livestock Guardian Dog, her name is Maple. Both dogs are very nice and kind. Maple's job is to protect our ducks and chickens from predators. She will bark but she will not hurt you. She will especially love you if you have treats or say 'Hello, Maple!" We will try to have her put away before bookings if enough notice is given. She will not hurt a human, she knows her job and duty on our homestead but she can be nosy as she runs the perimeter of our property often. If you have a fear of dogs or would like to make sure she is put up just send me a message beforehand and I will make sure she is put away secure. She also will not mind other dogs but please make sure if you bring a pet it is kind to other animals and we expect all pets are leashed at all times unless inside your rig.

This was my third time staying there. And the reason I went back is because I wanted to stay again. I traveled to Knoxville and it’s a great place to stop in my in-between travels. The house are incredible not to mention the 200+ acres of land have trails and a pond. Plenty to see and walk around. I can’t wait to spend another night there again. I stayed in an A-frame, which has electricity, AC and heat. I mostly sit on the porch and light a fire and listen to the quiet.
The bathrooms are nearby and are clean with showers and a sink to do your dishes. Whatever you think you are missing, they have I’m a huge fan and will be back again and again.

Great, private site right along the creek. We had a great time playing in the water and the stars were amazing! So nice to have privacy and solitude and the location is close to Riverside Fly Shop if you plan to fly fish while in the area. Only complaints were vehicles driving nearby even later at night, perhaps ATV's, dogs and gunshots. All familiar country sounds, but worth mentioning for those seeking quiet. Still, it was peaceful and we would go back.

Shout out again to Dusty for creating a great, safe, and welcoming spot for like-minded people. My wife and I came during the equinox event and thoroughly enjoyed it. Special thanks to "G" for leading a very awesome chill nature walk that taught us all about the plant life we take for granted in our area. But what makes it so much more special are the community aspects that help us put down our phones and be present for the moment. Getting to meet and interact with everyone really grounds me to recharge. Parksland helps and so much more.
I finally got to experience the side over by P4-P6. Staying at P5 is nice and secluded but still close to the public area. I highly recommend it if you dont have a lot of stuff and just need the essentials. 10/10 trip all around and I can't wait to come back.

I had such a great time celebrating the Spring Equinox at Parksland Retreat! I've been multiple times, but this was my first time using the platform to camp. It was so nice camping between the main area with the showers/sauna and the swimming hole. Since it was the Spring Equinox, we had a potluck with some incredible food followed by a bonfire Friday night. Saturday there was an educational plant hike and then a sauna session after dark. I definitely recommend it!

Weekend Trip to Parksland Retreat
FF3 is situated a comfortable distance into the forest, and has you overlooking the creek. Which means you are lulled to sleep by the sound of the water, and woken by the sounds of the birds! We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful, and serene escape for our weekend! Dusty has created a beautiful oasis in the forest, and we are lucky that he shares his amazing space! Cell service is extremely limited, giving you the opportunity to truly unplug from the world! I can't wait to go back!
