Second time staying here. It was very peaceful and quiet, had one of the best nights sleep I’ve had in a while. Enjoyed the hiking trail and swimming hole. Dustin was very welcoming and a joy to talk to. Thanks!

Dusty is an incredible host and our stay was everything we’d hoped for. We loved everything about Parksland and are already looking forward to our next stay. We camped at the P3, which is a bit of a challenge as it is the most remote site on the property but that was exactly what we wanted for this trip. If you want to disconnect from modern life and reconnect with nature and yourself, I couldn’t recommend a better place.

FF3 Hollow

I have stayed in FF3 several times, and always it is my favorite place to camp! Its proximity to the stream and the privacy the site offers is ideal! I love the deck and the fire pit! Dustin thoughtfully provides a small battery powered fan, two towels, and a fun tour of the gardens and greenhouse. 10/10 time all the way around!

Parksland Retreat Sunrise Cabin C1

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL place with very kind and gracious hosts. We unfortunately got hit with almost 2 full days of rain so we didnt get to experience all the things we looked forward to experiencing. I generally judge a camping area by its access to good firewood. So by that this place is 5 stars. Lots of generously chopped, dry and seasoned firewood is available for purchase and it burns HOT. I will say this to anyone reading this thats thinking about staying in site P3, pack light. Its a haul and exhausting going up and down that mountain to get camp set up. Especially if you're a notorious overpacker like me who like to have his camp a certain way. I suggest hammocks or a small tent and bring a table or youll have nowhere to set or prepare ANYTHING. Its all personal preference of course. Anyway, definitely go see Dustin, youll be so happy you did. GREAT place. Thanks again Dustin for having us!!

This retreat was sooooo magical! Dustin has created such a warm, welcoming, inclusive environment. We felt at peace and very safe. We stayed at P2 Creek Bend. It was not nearly as bad as some the reviews made it out to be. But then again, my partner and I are very active and in pretty good athletic shape. We loved this spot because it was really big we had the Creek to play in with our pups and had it lull us to sleep at night. The Creek is crystal clear, super clean and very refreshing on a hot day. First time hiking naked! We never wanna hike any other way! Thank you for creating this wonderful space. We can not wait return!

Ecstatic experience.

My husband and I are busy and exhausted and on top of that, we have been through some major life changes. This has led to a rough patch in our relationship. The only choice we had the weekend we went was to cancel all plans and just exist in nature. We didn’t have time or patience to work for it either. I didn’t want to set up a tent and I didn’t want to be in a house or a hotel. The sunrise cabin at Parksland was exactly what I personally needed. We got to be completely free with our bodies and minds. Which led to freedom of conversation between us. The windows and glass doors allow you to zone out and watch the birds fly and the trees sway. It is particularly charming in the rain. I am so grateful that I live so close to heaven. The sauna and swimming hole are added benefits. Cherries on top. If you need SERENITY this is your place but don’t mistake that word for boring. I had the most mind opening experience here! Want to add, I have tent camped here as well and no matter how you do it, just do it.

I love Parksland Retreat and will be back! It is a beautiful property- I stayed in the tent site at the top of the road and felt safe as a solo female traveler. Dustin and the other folks staying there who I met were friendly without crowding me. I showed up on a Friday in time for the hot tub. The composting toilet is great, there's potable water if you need it, and the shower dome is my favorite. I also had a quick dip in the swimming hole (even though it was cold!). Great weekend. Like I said, I'll be back.

We camped at p3 creek side the furthest away site possible from everyone the hike is an quad burner but we love hiking so it was the icing on top for us the site itself really isn’t big enough for anything bigger than a 8 person tent and your not gonna pack heavy for this one but once you get there boy is it worth it an oasis in itself plus the 2 mile trail it could use some cleaning up here and there but I imagine it’s hard keeping the trail clean with all the other things needed to upkeep the owners homestead dusty seemed like a busy man but the welcome was warm and explained where everything was and how to use the showers already planning our next adventure here !

Go! You won’t regret it!

Outstanding! Dustin has built such a lovely place here at Parksland. The cabin was exactly as advertised, if not better. We had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We hiked the trails, enjoyed the Friday night meal, toasted in the sauna on Saturday night, and stayed up chatting with several other folks in the lounge area by a roasting fire while it drizzled on the metal roof. Most visitors during our stay participated in the clothing optional invitation (in case you were curious). We met some people who had visited before, but the majority who were there during our time were newcomers like us. If you have the opportunity to visit - go! You won’t regret it. It’s serene and warm and inviting in every wonderful way possible.

The vibe here is unmatched. I solo camped but knew some friends were camping at another site. People respected my privacy while on my site but I stg by the next day, I had met new friends with most of the others on the property. Dusty is an angel and I'm so impressed with what he has created here.

An absolutely gorgeous setting by the Talladega National Forest. Friendly staff, space to commune with nature, and fabulous trails! If you are up for adventure and are looking for something a little out of the ordinary - this might be your spot!

Beautiful, peaceful property with well-spaced sites. The owner was very welcoming and made a great first impression. We booked P3 but stayed at P2 with our group, and it ended up being an excellent site—great water access, enough space for two 6-person tents, and falling asleep to the sound of the creek was a highlight. There are no videos of the hike down or back up the hill—trust me, you’ll need all your strength (especially if you’re not already a hiker 😂). Pack light—then pack lighter. These are definitely backpack-style sites. We used a shower bag because going back up the hill at night wasn’t happening. Plenty of trails on the property, and you’re also close to Majestic Caverns if you want to explore nearby. We’d absolutely stay here again.

I had an incredibly peaceful time at Dustin's place. I stayed alone, and he was so kind and welcoming. The property is beautiful, there is a creek that runs throughout, a swimming hole, and a lovely loop to hike. He is very knowledgeable and I learned a lot about his gardening/beekeeping practices. The geodesic shower was rad. Hope to see you again, Dustin!

We love going every chance we can. It was a little cold Friday night and Saturday night without a fire cause of the no burn band Saturday morning the cat named fireball came to see us and came back right before dark for a little bit just don't rub his belly he doesn't like it lol 😆 did get to walk the trails seen beautiful views

Spring Equinox Celebration!

I had such a great time celebrating the Spring Equinox at Parksland Retreat! I've been multiple times, but this was my first time using the platform to camp. It was so nice camping between the main area with the showers/sauna and the swimming hole. Since it was the Spring Equinox, we had a potluck with some incredible food followed by a bonfire Friday night. Saturday there was an educational plant hike and then a sauna session after dark. I definitely recommend it!

Great camping for inclusiveness!

Shout out again to Dusty for creating a great, safe, and welcoming spot for like-minded people. My wife and I came during the equinox event and thoroughly enjoyed it. Special thanks to "G" for leading a very awesome chill nature walk that taught us all about the plant life we take for granted in our area. But what makes it so much more special are the community aspects that help us put down our phones and be present for the moment. Getting to meet and interact with everyone really grounds me to recharge. Parksland helps and so much more. I finally got to experience the side over by P4-P6. Staying at P5 is nice and secluded but still close to the public area. I highly recommend it if you dont have a lot of stuff and just need the essentials. 10/10 trip all around and I can't wait to come back.
