Convenient stop for the night or a few days for RV’s or Tent campers and a good place to get a hot shower - only a easy mile a half from I-20 exit 173 ( Eastaboga - Talladega Superspeedway Exit ) also a good base camp to see Cheaha State Park - bike at Coldwater Mountain- see the Talladega Superspeedway , Combat Park Flea Market , Oxford ballgames or other area Activities - I reserve one RV site and two tent sites for hipcamp and rent the other five RV sites at the top of hill on a monthly basis - these hipcamp sites are wooded, shady with woods between the other sites to give some privacy while still not far from the unique showers made from the old chicken house feed bins -these showers are very functional and I have been complimented that they are the best showers on the east coast

This area includes a bar with rainwater catchment for washing hands/dishes, refrigerator, freezer, electric tea kettle, microwave, solar oven, complimentary coffee/tea station, 2 burner biogas stovetop with cooking equipment&utensils, games, aerial yoga silks, climbing wall, slackline, Iyengar yoga rope wall, trash/recycling, filtered alkaline drinking water and more! Feel free to use our laundry facilities, communal picnic basket, and complimentary condiments, seasonings, sauces, etc found in the door of the fridge. Attached to the lounge is our air conditioned ecobathroom with *hot* shower, bio toilet, and complimentary toiletries if you forget anything.
A few notes on the property:
Most people have never used an EcoToilet and don’t realize it takes some work. If you have children, you will very likely have to do this part for them.
We keep the lounge area as clean as possible but at the end of the day it is an outdoor kitchen! Kitchenwares will have a layer of dust even if cleaned the day prior, so please give everything a rinse before you using!
You may read about mosquitoes in some of our past reviews, but I am happy to share that we now have a monthly mosquito service in place that has mitigated that issue :)

It serves as our primary residence and also residence for seasonal workers&traveling artists when they come here. Every year we have the opportunity to employ about a dozen people to work with us during the tourist season, from March-October. There is hot showers available at truck stop about a mile away and they have a dump station for those in RV. Come enjoy all the natural beauty or we are within an hour of hundreds of things to do for all ages. YaYA lives about 1/2 mile away and has a well available to refill your water. There is plenty of fallen wood to gather for fires or cut wood available for purchase. We have a community area with picnic tables, sun sails, grill, pavilion, and large bonfire. Please note the access road is old gravel and dirt, so if in a low car you'll need to take it slow. If there has been rain call ahead for entry directions as part of road becomes muddy. There is also a shooting range near by so during the day you will hear this some. You will not be disappointed if you love the tranquility of being outdoors.

This was a beautiful and tranquil spot. Lush green and waterfront area, gracious hosts and the cabin was perfect to relax and take a break from ‘busy life’. Larry and Sheila were more than accommodating. The cabin was perfectly stocked and spotless upon arrival. I enjoyed my time so much, I extended another week! Thanks Larry and Sheila. Such a beautiful, serene place. Very easy to get to, especially if from central Alabama. You literally drive right up. The route to is well maintained once off of paved road. Part gravel, part dirt. Can tell it’s been driven on a lot so well packed. Wet weather may be tricky for two wheel drives but most of the time should be no problem. Will be returning, highly recommend.

What a wonderful place to relax and unwind! The hosts are thoughtful, helpful, and friendly. The location is beautiful, and the facilities provided near the river RV sites are excellent. We needed a quiet getaway away from the crowds and we got our head in the dark and starry skies while our feet soaked in the cool current of the Blackwater River. If you are in the area, do yourself a favor and stay there a while.

I loved tent camping on the property! We had the whole place to ourselves one night. The other two nights other people were there but the property is so large you still feel like you’re by yourself. It was beautiful and peaceful. The instructions were clear and helpful. I didn’t have any issues or concerns the entire time we stayed. I will def. camp here again.

Tent camping here is amazing! Right on the river. Can fish right on the bank (caught a few catfish, fried them up and ate them to same day 😋). You can walk a few meters and play safely in the water. River runs a big quicker than expected, but I also camped during a storm with lots of rain. Beautiful scenery! Richard is awesome and communicated well! Would highly recommend, and definitely planning on coming back!

I love Parksland Retreat and will be back! It is a beautiful property- I stayed in the tent site at the top of the road and felt safe as a solo female traveler.
Dustin and the other folks staying there who I met were friendly without crowding me. I showed up on a Friday in time for the hot tub.
The composting toilet is great, there's potable water if you need it, and the shower dome is my favorite. I also had a quick dip in the swimming hole (even though it was cold!). Great weekend. Like I said, I'll be back.

This was a first class camping experience at Bohamia! They have done everything exceptionally well, and we would highly recommend them to anyone who is camping, glamping or needing a beautiful place to stay in their RV.
Well marked and maintained trails throughout in beautiful surroundings!
Exceptionally clean and well done bathroom facilities.
They were attentive to any of our needs and hosted us with care and attentiveness.
We would go back again and again if we are ever in that area.
