Perfect little location for some fall trees and a little getaway. The cabin had everything I needed with the extra bonus of the personal hot tub! Instructions about everything in the cabin were very easy to follow. I also appreciated how this one felt a little more secluded than some of the neighbors!

Weekend Trip to Little Blue House @ Smith Lake

We absolutely loved staying at the Little Blue House! My first impression when I walked in was how clean and inviting it was. The beds are very comfortable, and there are plenty of pillows, blankets, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and even a washer and dryer! There is no dishwasher, so be prepared to hand wash your dishes but that is not a big deal at all for me. Although it is rural, there is a Dollar General close enough so you can either drive there to pick up some items or DoorDash is also available to deliver your items to the front door. Of course my boys really appreciated the high speed WiFi and the smart TV where they watched their favorite YouTube channels and Netflix movies. We enjoyed using the fire pit for making s’mores, and I loved the outside lighting. Small disclosure, this charming home is not a lake house so it is not right on the water, but you can access the boat ramp just a mile and half away. I definitely would recommend this house!

What a beautiful place to relax and let the noise of the world fade away. The property is spacious, with plenty of shade and room to run and play, plus a lovely walking trail that leads down to the creek. Though the creek is narrow, it was perfect for walking the full creek bed with our dog as he learns the river. Along the way, we found several swimming holes that were just deep enough to cool off, but never too deep to be safe. The fire pit is beautifully laid out and makes the perfect spot for morning coffee in the shade. The house itself is neat, clean, and tidy, with everything thoughtfully put together — it truly feels like a cozy cabin in the woods. We especially appreciated how private and dog-friendly the property is. Our pittie boy had the best time exploring, swimming, and enjoying the simple pleasures of the private beach and creek walks. It’s exactly the kind of secluded getaway we’re always searching for, and we’ve already added it to our trip planner for future visits. Mary was so very pleasant, patient and accommodating. I felt very welcomed and at home. Thank you Mary :)

Weekend Trip to Parksland Retreat

I have stayed at Parksland before. This was my first time staying in the cabin. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The cabin was cozy, although we spent most of our time at the camp center listening to music and enjoying the sauna. The trail from the parking spot to the cabin is relatively short, so it doesn't take you long to get your stuff there. Everyone, from the host to the other guests, was very friendly. We packed our own battery-operated fans, which is something I'd recommend during the warmer months. The cabin to the swimming hole has very direct access as well. You'll enjoy any of the sites on the land, but if you need something enclosed, the cabin works for that. Very welcoming location all around. Anyone who doesn't emphasize love and respect likely wouldn't be allowed back by the host.

Hmm. What can you say really to describe the wonderfulness of Parksland? From low tech to high tech, cool clear waters, hot to cold sauna shower, and good company, what more do you need? Prepare for as primitive or as glamorous as you care to. Dusty is a real Man's Man, gracious host, great conversationalist and free with his knowledge, plays no games. Be with people if you want or see no people the whole stay. Your camp spot and the grounds layout allow just that. If you like to hike this is your spot. Hike the Ridgeline trail with it's stunning views and vegetation crossing the creek twice. There is a "bowl" at the main swimming hole that is a fantastic massage. Let me know when you find the "strike" stretch. A+, 10/10, I'll go again. In closing, I had a "just what the doctor ordered" experience. For those who know, you know. The Little Blue House was whimsical, sweet, clean and welcoming! Really cozy with fully stocked kitchen. Great for dog guests with a fenced-in spot and a serene yard and nice quiet hilly road for morning walks. Nearby Bankhead national forest and Sipsey wilderness so it was nice to get out and about all day in nature then have showers, ac, and a comfy bed to come back to. Would stay again and bring friends!!

Beautiful rustic yet elegant log cabin In a remote location with no one else in sight from the property. Private beach on the river, which the grandkids loved. There is a large pavillion down by the creek. A firepit and grill behind the house and a large back porch. Absolutely wonderful place to unplug and spend time with family. The house does have wi-fi and Hughes Net if you choose to stay plugged in. Very spotty cell service. We had a great time. Lightning hit nearby while we were there and we lost power. Mary was readily available to contact the power company and stayed in close contact until the issues were resolved. She offered to refund our remaining days if we wanted to check out but we were enjoying ourselves so much we stayed anyway. Would definitely recommend the cabin. Great location, beautiful home and attentive hostess. What else do you need?!

Weekend Trip to Parksland Retreat

Our hosts, Dustin and Emily are awesome! Dustin greeted us with a smile, upon arrival! Gave us a tour and explained the cool showers, sauna and composting toilet. We stayed in the Sunrise Cabin, C1. It was clean and really nice! I cooked dinner in the cast iron and built a nice fire. We thoroughly enjoyed playing in the crystal clear stream down the hill, in the buff! What a fantastic feeling of freedom and peace! Beautiful, lush, green forest full of birds! We had a great time! Made lifelong memories and departed with grins on our faces, rejuvenated and looking forward to our next visit!

This was our second trip to Parksland and staying again in the C1 Cabin. It was even more magical than the first time! The hosts are wonderful souls and this place of peace is just a really lucky find. The cabin itself is secluded, yet close enough to amenities to be convenient. We lucked out here. We had a quiet weekend (as you can with THREE boys 12,13,13). Sheila and Larry were so friendly, they stopped in a bit after we arrived. We were able to chat a bit while we were allowing the boys to be boys… sometimes it’s hard to be able to. It was so refreshing for me to enjoy nature and let the boys do the work and run like heathens for once. We will most definitely be back to this beautiful piece of property.
