This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite! Learn more about this land: Setup camp on the banks of Dorsey creek in Bug Tussle. Wooded area with shade in the warm season. Flat ground for tents or plenty of trees for hammocks. Easy access for vehicles directly to the campsite. Fire ring with grill grates present for cowboy cooking. Peaceful with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife. Primitive toilet present. Rock dam in creek is great to entertain kids, old grist mill site couple hundred yards downstream. Logging and ATV present for hiking and wildlife viewing. Deeper sections in creek present for cooling off in warm weather.

Everything was clean, organized, and clearly cared for. One of my favorite parts of the trip was taking morning walks on the trails — they’re incredibly peaceful and a perfect way to start the day. It’s such a relaxing setting, especially if you’re looking to unwind and enjoy nature. David is also a very responsive host, which makes planning and staying there even easier. He communicates quickly and makes sure everything runs smoothly. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a quiet, well-kept place to camp!

Weekend Trip to Rock Creek Retreat & Ventures

Our dome was great! My daughter and dog both loved the little hiking trail near the creek, and the setting was perfect. The view from our dome was beautiful, and we’re looking forward to visiting again in warmer weather to enjoy some creek play. 2 nights at Bug Tussle Creek Bend

Got to take advantage of a couple unseasonably warm Feb days so I headed up to Bug Tussell. What a great camp spot. Loved the drive down the gravel road. The side of the mountain was cool and saw a nice size buck. Then driving thru hay fields was fun. The hay field was wonderful to just go find a cleared spot and look up at the sky. Even in the dead of winter, the trees & creek were beautiful. Looking forward to booking in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

What a beautiful property! This time I saw ducks at the lake! I also saw lots of seer tracks. I have camped here many times but this was the first time I had to contact David with a question. He responded immediately and was so kind. Of course I look forward to our next visit.

This place was absolutely amazing! The views were beautiful, and we had the opportunity to meet Zed. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. The dogs were super friendly too, which made the experience even better. We stayed in the Bobcat area, and at night you could hear the lions and tigers, which made the experience unforgettable. You’re able to pick out the spot you want, which is a great touch. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back myself.

Weekend Trip to Larry & Sheila's Blackwater Getaway

I booked Sheila's RV spot #1 near the pavilion about two hours before my 9pm arrival. I was on a long road trip and getting tired, so I was grateful for the ability to instant book the site and even more grateful when she responded right away letting me know she'd turned the lights on for me. The place is beautiful. The RV spot and pavilion are right next to the river which is surrounded by lush vegetation and a sandy shoreline. It was really picturesque and peaceful. The pavilion has electricity with a sink, a fully enclosed toilet room, and an outdoor shower. If I'd had more time, I would have loved to spend more time there.... especially if I was traveling with friends and family. As a solo traveler, I got a little spooked by the series of long, dark, and windy roads between the main highway and the property... especially because cell service was spotty. So while it's perfect because it's remote, I'd encourage solo travelers to arrive before sundown.
