You'll be camping on our Stanley lake sugarbush property. Lakefront sites have power and water - are located in a grassy clearing on the shores of Stanley Lake. ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGING OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES ON PROPERTY!!
Primitive sites are amongst the maple trees of our sugarbush operation, within walking distance of the lake. These sites do not yet have water or electricity, but water is available from spigots at the lake clearing.
Stanley lake is just shy of 400 acres, known for walleye and bass. It is an all sports lake with no limited wake hours. Feel free to roam our woods - you will notice the blue maple lines come to an end at our east and west property lines, as well as a no trespassing sign on the lake clearing to the west line. Deer here are plentiful, and you can often get them to eat from your hand, provided you have apples. Iron county has a tremendous ORV/snowmobile trail system. You can drive your machine right from our property to the trails. There are two golf courses in the area, as well as a vast bicycle trail system. Ski Brule ski hills and sporting clay operation are a few miles from the property. Countless acres of public land for recreation!

A hidden gem nestled between the comforts of lake living and a backdoor to the expansive Nicolet National Forest. Recreational opportunities are year-round, including recreational vehicle and fishing opportunities on and around the 417 acre lake flowage. The private +2 acre property has panoramic views of the secluded headwaters opening into the main flowage. Set back off the main lake, wildlife viewing, especially birding, is the best I have experienced. Neotropical migratory bird species are abundant in the Spring as well as a resident breeding pair of Trumpeter Swans, many ducks(!), Bald Eagles, Loons, Sand-Hill cranes; many woodpecker spp. including Pileated; Screech, Barred and Great horned owls. Some of the more entertaining wildlife include deer, otter, beaver, muskrats, red squirrels and the occasional wandering black bear (no problem bears). In the Spring, the esker's neighboring wetlands come alive with many frog and turtle species. For me, the allure of the wild still dominates here. The esker provides an amazing vantage point with nearly 270 degree panoramic views of the flowage. From the Gazebo, take one of two paths to the overlook before descending down to the lakefront. In 2021, I plan on adding a short pier but the natural rocky peninsula already provides excellent access into the deeper thalweg, an excellent fishing/ swimming hole! All pontoon and fishing boats can be accommodated here. Learn more about this land:The property is located towards the end of a Forest Service road (Meadowlark Lane) with one year-round resident at the end. There's a large turn-around for trailers and larger vehicles. Neighbors are well separated, located over the ridgeline and out of earshot. The property has a relatively wide, flat 100 foot driveway to the cabin from the road. Easy access to the cabin from the driveway. The cabin is surrounded by mature maple/birch/balsam/hemlock forest and several wetland/tamarack bogs (very diverse terrain bordering the lake). At the base of the cabin there's a small pier for direct kayak and canoe access. Larger boats can easily dock on the lake-end of the property, a short walk from the cabin. From the natural driveway a concrete paver staircase leads up to the main campsite (see pics). The campsite includes a 3 season 14 foot enclosed gazebo with electricity. Essentially, the land is a 2 acre esker (kettle moraine feature) that serpentines through the woods to Reservoir "Pond" lake system. Excellent views of the lake! The Flowage has headwaters from McCauslin brook and connects 3 lakes totaling 417 acres. Maximum depth 27 feet. Fishing and Pontoon boat docking on shoreline. The closest boat launch is on Horn Lake which is passed on the way to the cabin and approximately a half mile away as the crow flies. Plenty of areas for tenting/ wall tents, 2 picnic tables (one near the cabin and the other by the gazebo), and a separate outhouse with toiletries at the top of the hill. Attractions in the Area: Sleepy Hollow Minature Golf on Nicolet Rd (just East of Horn Lake) Sunset Resort of Townsend located on the SE end of the flowage. Accessible by boat or short drive from camp on Burnt Dam Road. Hill Crest Lodge Supper Club on Nicolet Rd (you'll pass on the way in) 4 Stars. Birch Hills Resort and Bar (over the bridge from Hill Crest) 5 Stars. River's Edge is a four season adventure company in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, outfitting adventurers with equipment and guidance. The property is located on the Manitowish River, Heart of Vilas County bike trail, and Iron County snowmobile trails. By car we're about eight minutes from WinMan Trails, ten minutes from MECCA Trails and Mercer, three minutes from Manitowish Waters. As we're right on the bike path, riding to lunch or dinner is easy, with lots of yummy options close by.
We have two campsites on our property, primarily for adventurers looking for a central basecamp location from which to go do all the fun things we have available in the Northwoods. Campsites are located on the west end of the property, in proximity to all the activities, and include full hookups, a picnic table and fire ring.
Site One is closest to the river and bike path. It's more secluded and separate from the main lodge area. Of the two sites, this is the best if you plan to hang around camp and chill. It does have trees lining the parking space, so if you have a trailer above 11'-13' be careful backing in.
Site Two is right off of the main parking area next to the lodge building. While we're working on natural barrier growth, it is kind of in the middle of activity during our busy seasons. It is, however, the easiest to back into with a large trailer. If you're looking for a convenient place to bring your RV or trailer and don't mind being less secluded, this is for you. If you're looking for a national forest experience, this is not for you.
The main lodge is open for use until 10pm-ish. There are couches, tables and board games available for guests. A bathroom is available for campers in the lodge, however there is no shower. We highly recommend The Manitowish Waters Athletic Club for shower facilities, hot tub, and pool. Day passes are reasonably priced and the facility is extremely well appointed. It's about three minutes by car or ten by bike.
Campers get a discount on rental equipment. Wifi is available in the lodge.
Our sites are open year-round, although water service will be turned off when temps are below freezing.

Please feel free to use any wood you find already down in the woods or take from the numerous stick piles found near the campsites. Please do not use the cut firewood. The wood in the stick piles has been stacked for your use and is good dry wood that will provide you with hot fires. We do not even use the cut wood in the summer, spring, or fall.
My young children and I have worked hard to clear those sites and cut wood for our own personal use in the winter so please respect the effort we have put in so we can continue to enjoy our land and share this beautiful location with others.
There is no electric or water so please plan your trip accordingly. Please leave no trace and carry out what you bring in.
There are no toilets available so you will need to provide your own portable toilet. Peeing on a tree is fine, but no pooping in holes.
If you chose to drive down to the campsite by the creek you are doing so at your own risk as vehicles have gotten stuck trying to get back up especially after a rain fall and had to get towed out. It is recommended you park up on top and walk the short distance down. ATV/UTV are fine going down to the creek campsite.
The long driveway has plenty of room for multiple vehicles, trailers, and boats.
Absolutely no hunting or shooting of guns is allowed on the property.
Bears have been seen on the property so please use bear safe camping practices.
If your children use the ninja line or hammocks on site they do so at their own risk and we are not held liable for any injuries that may occur. You may notice a zip line. The seat will be removed and is not to be tampered with or used.
Quiet time is between 10pm-6am. No illegal activity (including fireworks) are allowed.
You may see us up there but we will respect your privacy and space. We welcome company and conversation but also respect you may prefer to be left alone.

We run a holistic healing retreat from our home, but when we are not doing those we offer up our beautiful bell tents for campers. Each tent has two full beds, side tables with lamps, a fan, and electricity. Our property is on 7.8 acres of which 80% is wooded, and on Fish Lake/Pelican River with a dock for access to the water. There is no public boat launch, so all watercraft must be able to be carried to the water. There is a fire pit by the lake with plenty of seating to hangout and watch the Northern Lights. We have large gardens and chickens plus we work here, so you will see us around. We do have roosters and they do make noise, but we find that our clients get used to them quickly. Our property is a great basecamp for exploring the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Only 10 minutes from downtown Rhinelander, but you feel like you are way out in the woods.

Weekend Trip to Simplicity @Top Of The Hill Huskies
This spot is a truly perfect off-grid getaway. I couldn't have asked for a more prepared or inviting experience.
The host went above and beyond by having the wood stove prepped and ready for immediate use, along with some initial firewood provided. Since the temperature dropped into the 30s, I did burn through two bundles of wood over the course of the night to stay warm (which worked perfectly, with the fire only needing restarting once!).
The cabin itself is a cozy sanctuary, and it was exactly the recharge I needed. I am already wanting my next trip back!
Future visitors: If you're staying during cold weather, be prepared for at least two bundles of wood to last the night. Also, I highly recommend bringing a good camping lantern with you, a flashlight felt a little weak for lighting the whole space.

Might not be for the kind of camper who just wants to sit at their site all day but if you're lookong for an adventure down the river or to get some mileage on the beautiful bike trails then this is an AMAZING spot. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful weekend at Diana’s place! Everything we could’ve needed was provided, and the location was easy to find. She was kind enough to let us meet her dogs and made sure the mud on the trail was covered each day. Definitely will be coming back again!

Silver Maple tent site has abundant room including two picnic tables. Surroundings offered a flat tent space, lovely tall trees to hear the wind’s rustle leaves and look up at the canopy above with mesh ceiling. Near a pit outhouse, bonus. Just a brief gravel road to beautiful wood showers and more amenities like an outdoor sink with faucet, Starlink internet and dock at lakeside for stargazing or other fun. Welcoming hosts, just look for gravel road turn by handful mailboxes before/after Wicklund (don’t turn there). You’ll know the entry point from seeing blue property lines. Look forward to a return trip!!

This campsite was very nice because it was large and had many trees around it. We appreciated having access to the lodge. We arrived late the first night and decided to enjoy the indoor fireplace instead of making a fire at our campsite and it was so nice! We were also able to get our morning coffee inside.
We also appreciated that it's directly across from a put in on the Manitowish River so it was simple to go paddling.

This place was perfect - a cozy Midwest romantic getaway, as my boyfriend called it. We stayed in the orange tiny house, which had two beds, and an indoor fireplace which kept us warm at night. Diane provided us with plenty firewood and had other cooking utensils if needed. The stars were beautiful at night as well which was an added plus. We loved how private and cozy the stay was. We plan to come back again next month! Thank you Diane!

The shed is a great little spot! Clean and comfortable. Was a bit muddy to get there, but not a big deal if you have all wheel drive. It is in the woods, a little mud is expected after rain. Nice to walk with my dog off-leash on the trails they use for the dog sledding. You can hear the huskies sometimes, but they were silent thru out the entire night. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and be back myself sometime!

Matt takes excellent care of the property. His pride is obvious. He shares stories about the history of the resort. Everything is CLEAN! Each site has its own trash and recycling bins, so no hauling. I don't need to explain how wonderful it is to have our water hookup and sewer hookups right on site. We also had great conversations with him. I'd highly recommend!

We had the most magical fall getaway in the forests of Upper Wisconsin, it was absolute paradise! 🍂 We stayed in the adorable cabin, which was cozy perfection with super comfy beds and lovely bedding. The stove was such a treat. We accidentally got it way too hot and had to air it out, but it made the cabin feel extra warm and romantic.
Our pup Leslie loved being off-leash and exploring the property, and the short, beautiful walking trails they carved out were perfect for peaceful strolls. We also loved that there’s so much great hiking nearby if you want to drive out and explore. Even with a rainy weekend, it was perfect to snuggle up in the cabin and enjoy the sounds of birds, ducks, coyotes, and the friendly huskies on site.
The nearby town of Eagle River is so charming, we could almost plan another trip just to hang out there! The host was perfect: super responsive but gave us total privacy to enjoy our solitude. Highly recommend for anyone craving cozy comfort, fall colors, and complete relaxation!

Excellent experience. Truly private cabin/shack tucked away on host's land. Wood stove made it incredibly cozy and the host was kind enough to stock firewood for us to use. Beautiful forest to hike in and hearing the dogs howling as a pack at night was unique delight.

This place is perfect! Private, cozy, with beautiful views and the sounds of nature. It was fun hearing the huskies off in the distance, owls at night, and seeing a few turkey and deer during the day. Our dogs were just as happy to have time away from “the city”. The wood furnace kept us toasty in the cooler evenings and the beds were snuggly with plenty of blankets and pillows. 10/10 will be returning.

Beautiful site, view of the river right outside the door, great hosts, dog friendly...canoe rental got us out on the Manotowish River for a few beautiful paddles.
