One of my favorite home away from home’s. This property will help you reground and connect with nature. I have added the necessities of life, while keeping the property as natural as possible. My goal is to share this great experience I’ve created with you and your family. A hidden gem nestled between the comforts of lake living and a backdoor to the expansive Nicolet National Forest.  Recreational opportunities are year-round, including recreational vehicle and fishing opportunities on and around the 417 acre lake flowage.  The private +2 acre property has panoramic views of the secluded headwaters opening into the main flowage.  Set back off the main lake, wildlife viewing, especially birding, is the best I have experienced. Neotropical migratory bird species are abundant in the Spring as well as a resident breeding pair of Trumpeter Swans, many ducks(!), Bald Eagles, Loons, Sand-Hill cranes; many woodpecker spp. including Pileated; Screech, Barred and Great horned owls.  Some of the more entertaining wildlife include deer, otter, beaver, muskrats, red squirrels and the occasional wandering black bear (no problem bears).  In the Spring, the esker's neighboring wetlands come alive with many frog and turtle species.  For me, the allure of the wild still dominates here.  The esker provides an amazing vantage point with nearly 270 degree panoramic views of the flowage. From the Gazebo, take one of two paths to the overlook before descending down to the lakefront.  In 2021, I plan on adding a short pier but the natural rocky peninsula already provides excellent access into the deeper thalweg, an excellent fishing/ swimming hole!  All pontoon and fishing boats can be accommodated here. Learn more about this land:The property is located towards the end of a Forest Service road (Meadowlark Lane) with one year-round resident at the end. There's a large turn-around for trailers and larger vehicles. Neighbors are well separated, located over the ridgeline and out of earshot. The property has a relatively wide, flat 100 foot driveway to the cabin from the road. Easy access to the cabin from the driveway. The cabin is surrounded by mature maple/birch/balsam/hemlock forest and several wetland/tamarack bogs (very diverse terrain bordering the lake). At the base of the cabin there's a small pier for direct kayak and canoe access.  Larger boats can easily dock on the lake-end of the property, a short walk from the cabin. From the natural driveway a concrete paver staircase leads up to the main campsite (see pics).  The campsite includes a 3 season 14 foot enclosed gazebo with electricity.  Essentially, the land is a 2 acre esker (kettle moraine feature) that serpentines through the woods to Reservoir "Pond" lake system. Excellent views of the lake! The Flowage has headwaters from McCauslin brook and connects 3 lakes totaling 417 acres.  Maximum depth 27 feet.  Fishing and Pontoon boat docking on shoreline. The closest boat launch is on Horn Lake which is passed on the way to the cabin and approximately a half mile away as the crow flies. Plenty of areas for tenting/ wall tents, 2 picnic tables (one near the cabin and the other by the gazebo), and a separate outhouse with toiletries at the top of the hill. Attractions in the Area:  Sleepy Hollow Minature Golf on Nicolet Rd (just East of Horn Lake) Sunset Resort of Townsend located on the SE end of the flowage.  Accessible by boat or short drive from camp on Burnt Dam Road.  Hill Crest Lodge Supper Club on Nicolet Rd (you'll pass on the way in) 4 Stars.  Birch Hills Resort and Bar (over the bridge from Hill Crest) 5 Stars.  Mike's Supermarket/ Pintsch's TrueValue (just thought I'd mention where to get provisions) (also on Nicolet Rd), TownsendPotawatomi Casino, CarterOld Town Hall cafe and bloody bar- Traditional American food, Townsend (Excellent Breakfast!)Sweet Memories Candy Store, Lakewood (If you have a sweet tooth, this place is over the top Willy Wonka style, many candy filled rooms that seem to never end!)Lakewood Ski and Sport- Outdoor Gear, Lakewood.  Talk to Dave- great guy. Really lovely environment! The cottage is perfect for 3 of us + our dogs. A nice reprieve from tenting! Outdoor space is large with firepit, table and some chairs. Rob was attentive with communications and making sure all was good. We would stay here again!

If you’re a HipCamper reading this and the listing is still available, book it right now! The tiny house rental exceded my groups expectations in every way. The tiny house itself is nicer inside than expected and thoughtfully built. The hot outdoor shower felt amazing on a cool night after spending the day hiking. The stars on this property are the best I’ve seen in all of Wisconsin, we all saw multiple shooting stars each night. The hosts kept us well stocked with firewood and their farm fresh eggs. Randy and Alnilda are really cool and kind folks. They really cared about how we were doing and enjoying our stay. They made our weekend trip the best it could have been.

I can’t say enough good things about this glamping site! The hosts thought of absolutely everything. What I loved most was how it balanced comfort with the outdoors. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how peaceful and welcoming this place felt. The scenery was beautiful, the air fresh and crisp, and the surroundings so well cared for. The tent was spotless, beautifully decorated, and surprisingly spacious—complete with the luxury of a comfy bed, on-site bathroom, and showers. Private from other sites. Don’t have to worry about the stress of packing, just need clothes and food, everything else we packed was already supplied. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire, exploring the area, complementary games, and just soaking in the quiet beauty all around. It truly felt like a little escape from everyday life, and we are so grateful for the chance to experience it. Thank you for your hospitality and for creating such a special spot—we will remember our time here fondly and hope to return in the future!

Weekend Trip to HTR Door County

What a great stay! My family and I spent our weekend at one of the two bedroom cottages. The second room was great for our toddler while our dog spent the night with us in the main bedroom. It was great having a shower and toilet in the cottage along with all the other amenities. HTR handles trash and even delivered our firewood making things quite exceptional. The grounds have a pool and playground near by that helped keep our toddler occupied, but with HTR in Egg Harbor, you're right in the thick of Door Peninsula with easy access to so many attractions and recreational sites.

Super cozy and cute bungalow, would definitely love to stay here again. All the little extras made it even nicer and sleeping on a mattress was great. Only thing that could’ve made this better were if the lights on the outside were working. We had a somewhat rainy visit and didn’t stay by the fire longer after it stopped due to them not being on. Good thing I had a couple lights to give a a little more lighting. But we still enjoyed our night stay very much. Very roomy. Enjoyed listening to the wildlife and rain. Thank you Kyanna!

The host was great I let them know in advance would be a long day of traveling, they took the time to make sure everything was arranged so I had everything would need upon arrival. Both the cabin and bathrooms were clean and you can tell they take pride in the property as it was clean and well maintained.
