Retreat to relax at Chuckanut Hills Farm and Campground, a 20-acre energy-regenerative, off-grid family farm nestled at the foot of Anderson Mountain and surrounded by thousands of acres of forest. 30 minutes south of Bellingham in the Chuckanut Mountains, the only finger of the Cascade Mountain Range that reaches all the way
to the Salish Sea.
This wooded forest is part of the Puget Lowland Forest Eco-Region. These hills were the native home of the Saquantch people, a Salish coast tribe that fished and hunted the mountains surrounding Lake Whatcom. They lived in long lodge homes and were later pushed out by the invading Lummi Tribe. The Lummi Tribe was later pushed out by Western logging companies, and the entire mountainous region was heavily logged for a number of years.
Where our farm now rests was once the second of many logging camps built by Ed English, and he cut our gravel farm road in 1900; a railroad ran through the lower part of our property, taking logs from Lake Whatcom down to the little boom town of Seattle.
Our intention while being caretakers of this ancestral land is to restore native plants, raise heirloom produce and heritage animals, and provide a restful nature paradise for people looking to spend time in the outdoors.

We have Nigerian dwarf goats, apples, pears, plums, blackberries & Iris to enjoy. Wild animals abound. There are walking/biking trails right around the corner and you are 15 minutes from downtown, the ocean and enjoying sports like kayaking, swimming, whale watching, etc. Our glamping sites are completely off grid. Enjoy simplicity in comfortable luxury!
We are dog friendly, and we require all guests to clean up after their dogs. There are plastic bags provided for animal waste disposal when dogs are in the backyard and on neighborhood walks. Cleaning up after pets includes excess pet hair, especially on furniture. Please use the waterproof pet blanket provided for the sofa and bed.
Guests bring the animal onto the property at their own risk. The booking guest is liable for any damages that pets cause. (We will have to charge a cleaning fee if your dog leaves behind a mess or causes damage.)
We find that most people are cooperative and responsible with their pets. We love traveling with our fur babies, and would like to keep allowing pets in our listings. Thank you for being understanding and working with us to keep our rental available to pets!
Rules for dogs:
1. We do NOT have a fenced yard or space. If you have a dog that will wander, we require you to keep your dog on a leash or a lead.
2. We live in a country neighborhood and being good neighbors is very important to us. Excessive barking, making noise or being a nuisance to our neighbors is not allowed.
3. Clean up after your dog in the rental, around the rental and anywhere you take your dog in the neighborhood.

The Samish River runs through the property, narrowing into a deeper channel from the broad protected marshes to the north which provide excellent bird-watching vistas. We are located 30 min Southeast of Bellingham and one hour away from the fantastic Mt Baker ski area.
Our yurt is new, with no power but with good cell reception. We have a fully set up kitchen with all necessary utensils and dishes, comfortable bed with linen, woodstove and gas stove. Remember to bring a cooler!

The property is 20 acres surrounded by the Lummi First Nations Reservation. It is near the ocean however beach access is for tribal members only. Please respect this.
There are some trails on the property, more being developed. The area is on the west side of Bellingham Bay and within 15 min scenic drive to Bellingham. The area is also close to the Lummi Island Ferry which is a great day trip. Also a gateway to the Mount Baker Wilderness Area, so much to see!
BONUS - this area is a hotspot for Sasquatch (Bigfoot) sightings. There has even been a sighting on this property, in addition to several having heard a sasquatch call/scream.
There are others living on the property in a community setting, please be respectful of their privacy. They live in renovated school buses. Property is off-grid. Absolutely no electricity here, or wi-fi. Cell service is poor except for AT&T. Water is very good quality but not available at all times. When water runs out the generator needs to be ran to fill the tanks (typically done by someone living there). There is a porta potty along the side of the road as you enter, it is serviced weekly.

Nice creek side camp sites. We have new bathrooms with showers. Power and Water for each site. Close to the Birch Bay Beach amazing sunsets!! Bathrooms, showers and laundry on site. We are getting great feedback regarding our clean new bathrooms and showers.
We have a private path with bridge to Birch Bay. Nice walk. We currently have three sites open. 1-3 The other sites have new grass planted this summer. We are staying off of it for now.

We have 26 acres of beautiful woods and wetlands in the foothills of the North Cascades. The Samish River runs through the property, narrowing into a deeper channel from the broad protected marshes to the north which provide excellent bird-watching vistas. We are located 30 min Southeast of Bellingham and one hour away from the fantastic Mt Baker ski area.

The property is 20 acres surrounded by the Lummi First Nations Reservation. It is near the ocean however beach access is for tribal members only. Please respect this.
There are some trails on the property, more being developed. The area is on the west side of Bellingham Bay and within 15 min scenic drive to Bellingham. The area is also close to the Lummi Island Ferry which is a great day trip. Also a gateway to the Mount Baker Wilderness Area, so much to see!
BONUS - this area is a hotspot for Sasquatch (Bigfoot) sightings. There has even been a sighting on this property, in addition to several having heard a sasquatch call/scream.
There are others living on the property in a community setting, please be respectful of their privacy. They live in renovated school buses. Property is off-grid. Absolutely no electricity here, or wi-fi. Cell service is poor except for AT&T. Water is very good quality but not available at all times. When water runs out the generator needs to be ran to fill the tanks (typically done by someone living there). There is a porta potty along the side of the road as you enter, it is serviced weekly.

Nice creek side camp sites. We have new bathrooms with showers. Power and Water for each site. Close to the Birch Bay Beach amazing sunsets!! Bathrooms, showers and laundry on site. We are getting great feedback regarding our clean new bathrooms and showers.
We have a private path with bridge to Birch Bay. Nice walk. We currently have three sites open. 1-3 The other sites have new grass planted this summer. We are staying off of it for now.

If you are just looking for a spot to camp (like us), this is a very good option. James was very helpful via the app. The tent sites are down a short but steep hill by the water. We were able to park at out site because we were the only ones there, but if there are more folks camping, you will likely have to park in the lot and walk down. The bathrooms are small but nicely renovated and clean. There is water and power on site.

2 nights at North Wind House: Historic Cascadia
I stayed in the Willow Cabin for two nights over the Thanksgiving holiday, and it was exactly the peaceful reset I was hoping for. I arrived after 9pm, and even in the dark, the property felt welcoming with its whimsical lighting guiding the way. Reg, the host, was there to greet me and walk me through everything — from the cozy cabin setup to the full outhouse bathroom and the little kitchen area with a fridge for essentials.
The cabin itself is simple and calming, with a twin and a queen bed, both with fresh linens. Reg had the space heater going before I arrived, which was such a thoughtful touch. Since I stayed during the colder season, I was grateful I brought a heated blanket, and I’d recommend others do the same that time of year.
The water straight from the tap was incredibly fresh and delicious, truly something you don’t get in the city — just a small detail that made the stay feel even more special.
What really stood out to me was the beauty and quiet of the property. Reg genuinely encourages guests to wander and explore, and it made the whole stay feel more personal and grounding. It’s the perfect spot for anyone wanting to unplug, reflect, and enjoy a truly low-amenity, chill cabin experience.
And I have to mention this — the shower water pressure and heat were amazing. Truly a highlight!
If you know you enjoy a simple, peaceful, back-to-basics kind of stay, Willow Cabin is such a gem. I’d absolutely return.

I ended up with the entire site to myself (cause frankly who is camping for thanksgiving)
My whole family lives in other states, I’m here alone with my two pets.
It’s weird being alone for holidays so I booked this to get away from the city and really just enjoy my time alone.
The moss covered trees, the swing, the treehouse itself, was such a pleasant experience. So quiet and peaceful.
The hosts were easy to reach via text and even checked in on me mid stay.

Such a great experience! This is the perfect Hipcamp for those that want a hub for surrounding activities! I enjoyed the site and the host was very appropriately communicative. The description of the place is perfectly honest. Expect a visit from fluffy dogs and lots of farm and wilderness sounds. I heard a barred owl when I first arrived. Tasty water and the sauna and bathroom/shower is perfect!

Reg’s hundred acre wood is a charming mix of huts and outbuildings new and old. The vegetation overgrowth and misty air conceal various construction materials and antiques around the property. Dishes and coffee are available, and the BBQ worked as long as you can squeeze into the narrow place where it’s situated. The washroom is cute, the kitchen is slated for demolition, and the cabin we stayed in was warm. Reg was enthusiastic about showing us around the property, and introducing us to the sheep.

This may be the best place we've stayed at. Jackie is an incredibly thoughtful host with excellent communication. The tent was clean and absolutely perfect. I was very pleased that she used non toxic products. The property is beautiful, the hot tub beside our tent was amazing, the pool was super cool and we had everything we needed for the best stay. She even shared s'mores kits with us for the fire. Jackie really thought of everything!!

Great, out of the way, place. Spots are well marked, wiht plenty of space between them for privacy. There are farm animals that free range, including sheep (that are very cute), so heads up that there's lots of poop around. Andrea has three incredibly friendly dogs that came to say hello, and lots of cats around that are friendly too. The sauna is a great feature. The only drawback is that the sauna/bathhouse is a bit of an uphill hike from the campsites. Just plan your bathroom trips. Otherwise, lovely overnight here.

Reg has created a very cool space on his property. We loved staying in the analogue room, it felt very private and the bed was really comfortable! There’s a cozy washroom with a clawfoot tub and hot water and a kitchen both only a few steps away.
The property itself is stunning! Lots of hiking to explore and a volcanic grotto that had some of the most incredible rocks I’ve seen. This place is magic!
