Old McDonald's Farm, Inc. utilizes Farm Program animals, agriculture, gardens and beautiful, natural resources to "teach and reach" children and youth. First thing everyone should know is that we are under the landing approach to PDX. Some planes are quiet, and some are not. My wife, our farm pals, and I are used to it but, we want you to be aware. So, our property: coming in at roughly under 30 acres, Cold Springs Farm, established in 1885 and sits nestled in its own little valley. The farm's name is inspired by spring feeds a small pond at the Northeast Corner (near the Alder Site) that has crawdads, Mallards and Blue Heron. Of course, there are also curious Raccoons and Possums about. A canyon running the north of the property in known for its wildlife population including bear, deer and elk. Wherever you camp, you may hear someone moving through the forest at night. Although we are a short 30-minutes to Portland, our private farm is free from unwanted lights and traffic (save the intermittent air traffic), when the skies are clear, starwatchers who bring their telescopes have many vantage points from which they can indulge their hobby! Our wide-open field is great for kite flying, frisbee, doggie frolics, and it's also a great place to practice your drone piloting skills. Mid-July through early October you have access to pick as many blackberries as you want and they are delicious. Cold Springs Farm is also a sanctuary. Our current residents include our Kunekune Pigs: Chris P Bacon, Wilbur, Piggit, Hamish McBiscuit and Rowdy. The resident goats include Dolly, Freddy McNubbins, Princess Daisy, Mikey, Mildred, Marvin, Daphne, Booger, Cyra-Nose, and Delilah our big, gentle goat. Rounding out the bunch are our farm dogs, Oscar Braveheart, Hoppin' Howie and Lulu-bear our rescue Pyrenees and resident sweetheart. We look forward to welcoming to our Columbia River Gorge farm and introducing you to what our beautiful area has to offer. We are just minutes from many of the gorge waterfall hikes including the historic Multnomah falls and Vista House sitting on Crown Point. One of Oregon's favorite summer concert venues, McMenamins Edgefield, is a short 10 miles. And we have economy spots specifically for Mcmenamin Concert goers. Contact us for details. Concerts, wine tasting, and hiking within a short distance of the campsite, plus goat and pig cuddles (should you want them).

This property was once part of a 200 acre cattle ranch turned into a Christian community. The families shared meals, home-schooled their children and had a home-based church. They raised their own food in a 3 acre garden and orchard along with chickens and cows for milk, meet and eggs. Two of the original families still own some of the acres although the community was dissolved and much of the property sold to other people. Learn more about this land: We love sharing our beautiful land with those that love nature. The sunsets, the peace and the birdsong are the best.  Pets are welcome and you can walk through the forest with them on dirt pathways or keep them in your campsite. Please keep pets out of our area, as our dog is very protective and has been known to have scuffles with other animals approaching. Grassy areas are available to set up tents or have picnics. There are firepits for when the burn ban is not on (a wheelbarrow full of wood for $5). The campsites are large and spaced quite far from each other.  Please stay on gravel roadways with all motor vehicles.  There are two outhouses for tents campers. There is one non-potable water spigot by the log outhouse. There is no electricity on the property.  For your own safety and peace of mind, please keep all food in bear safe containers or locked in your cars. If you forget anything, the Washougal River Mercantile is two miles away where you can buy gas and groceries.  Local hiking trails on the Columbia Gorge:  Cape Horn Trail just 3 miles from our property and Beacon Rock/Hamilton Mountain trail is a 15 minute drive.   We can give you directions to our favorite swimming hole for cooling down on hot summer days in the Washougal river. (Discovery Pass required at the river) parking spot. Buy those at the Mercantile as well)

We would love to share our beautiful wooded 8 acres. We live here but your site is far enough from our house for privacy. The RV pad is surrounded by trees. Our RV space will easily park a 38ft. RV. It has full hookups with either 30 amp or 50-amp power. You are only 2 miles from shopping and only miles from Lackamas Lake and Battleground Lake for hiking, swimming, biking, boating and fishing. Down the road about 1/4 mile is Velvet Acres barn where you can buy fresh produce in July, August and September, then in October it's a Pumpkin Patch. Be sure while you’re here you visit Vancouvers waterfront downtown. Great shops and excellent places to eat. On weekends there’s a large farmers market that has all kinds of fresh produce. While here be sure to drive out to the gorge, it is one of the more breathtaking sites in the NW. We are 10 miles from the Columbia River and 36 miles from Multnomah Falls. On a nice day you can drive to the beach to cool off, it's about 90 miles to Longbeach. Being in the wetlands we have a lot of trees for privacy. The RV area is at the end of an area that is gated for security. There is a grassy area outside your door and a grassy area out back of your RV. We have trails you are welcome to use. You will see bunnies and all kinds of birds as well as deer that visit now and then. Although they have built homes on the west side the fence and trees give plenty of privacy. They recently started a home that should be done within a month. Contact me for updates. This is a perfect place if visiting the area or it’s a great place for snowbirds or workers that are in this area for weeks or months. Text me ahead for openings. We do consider long term stays. Please email me about exceptions on dogs weight and group size.

Once covered in old growth fir, this family farmland has raised potatoes, raspberries, nursery stock and housed 4 generations who absolutely love living the country life. Because neighboring farmers kept the land in near original condition, my wife and I enjoy the same panoramic splendor today that Pops had in the 1960's when he built this house. Folks who visit our campsite cannot believe they are less than an hour from 2.5 million people. Get out and get away for a little campfire therapy under the stars. Refresh your mind, body and spirit with clean air, a secluded setting and the peaceful view of prime Oregon farmland stretching toward the rugged foothills of the Cascade Range. Learn more about this land: Surrounded by trees with seasonal creek this quiet private campsite offers a spectacular unobstructed Mt. Learn more about this land: It sits upon a meadow with surrounding trees and a cow pasture in the distance. Spring time offers a small pond (please see below), but the Lewis river is close by with tons of recreational activities (swimming, fishing, hiking, wineries, etc.). There is only one site so there is a lot of privacy (there used to be two so some of the pictures show the older site right by the pond). It is a rural property with both farms AND residential homes/Airbnbs along the river and surrounding area. Town is not far (six miles) to get supplies and the Heisson convenience store is less than a mile away. Privacy is better here than at a public campground and it's perfect for a quick trip out of town for a day or two or just a quick and safe stop in your travels, or an extended stay. This is a beautiful property and I enjoy sharing it, please be mindful of the rules. *This winter was tough, lots of wind, so some trees fell, but they are all cleaned up and lots of small trees were planted. Can't wait until they grow to help for more privacy!!! Please, read the site description carefully! There is NO electricity or plumbing at the sites but there is a BPA safe hose for water at the top of the hill for your use (I usually have it on but if not please feel free to message me, and if you don't want to wait for a reply please feel free to knock on my door). The camp toilet (composting bucket with seat and lid) has a private tent, please be aware you must pack out your waste. This site can accommodate a large group, please see the prices when reserving. (It can fit up to five RVs but keep in mind it's dry camping and the RVs must have their own toilets.) I LOVE Dogs and they are most welcome, and may be off leash for a run in the field, however, they MUST have high recall. Please be mindful of my own dogs and chickens down below so please do not let them go beyond your site or the field when using. *We plan on making the pond to be a swim pond that will hold water all year long (the creek that runs into it is seasonal so it dries out depending on how much rain we get in any given year).

Please Input 23102 NE 3rd Avenue into your GPS. Clicking the link on the Hipcamp map will bring you here with an Androuid device, but send you to a gated community West of us on an Apple device. Located 5 minutes from the Amphitheater,10 minutes from Ilani Casino, and less than 30 minutes from some of the nicest freshwater lakes around. This is a secluded, Park Like property with walking trails all the way around it, and some interesting things for kids to spot, especially up Fairy Lane. Walking access is permitted, but you must keep pets on leash and keep an eye on your kids. In the dry season, typically May through the end of September, fires are not allowed, and please USE EXTREME CAUTION IF YOU CHOOSE TO SMOKE ONSITE. If you are one of those who just tosses your butts in the underbrush, you will be asked to leave for the safety of our property and guests. There is no smoking allowed inside the cabin, bathroom, or anywhere near the sawmill, or any area North of it. There is a public bathroom in the middle of the property beside the tree fort. It's well lit and open 24 hours a day. It has a flush toilet and a hot water sink and a HOT shower. * PLEASE NOTE To keep from freezing, the instant hot water heater is disconnected, and hot water, and hot showers ARE NOT AVAILABLE FROM NOV 15TH TO MAR 1ST. Cold water to flush the toilets and wash your hands is available all year. You can use the discount code NOHOT To reduce your booking rate during those times We try to keep rules to a minimum, but people seem to find creative ways to cause issues. Please park outside the yellow gate in the parking areas noted on the map. Please park on gravel and DON'T DRIVE OFF THE GRAVEL ROADS ONTO THE GRASS. Anita hates it, as you can cause a fire in the summer, and leave muddy ruts in the wet seasons. If you're driving through the trees, you're doing something wrong. There is plenty of wildlife on the property especially in the couple hours before dark. Best place to spot deer, racoons, porcupines and beaver are down near the pond. Enjoy your stay. Our property was homesteaded in 1919 by L.T. (Toot) and Doris Evans. We began working on our non-profit, children's program in 1992 and opened to serve kids in 1998. Old McDonald's Farm, Inc. utilizes Farm Program animals, agriculture, gardens and beautiful, natural resources to "teach and reach" children and youth. We offer many programs and "The Farmer For A Day Program" is just one. This one is open to older children and their families. We look forward to meeting you and having you join us as our guest!

We focus on best sustainability practices as well as giving our local community access to agriculture. Close to Portland but far from the hustle.  The forested 20 acre property slopes South, making it ideal to keep our solar powered cabins and wifi fully charged.Water, outdoor shower and composting outhouse are never more than a five minute walk on our groomed trails.    In early spring you may see taps on some of the beautiful Maple trees.  .  (Why buy Maple Syrup from the store when you can spend days of hard work laboring to make your own!)Summer Brings the berries, Eat the Blueberries and Blackberries to your hearts content.  Find refuge from the summers heat by relaxing by the year round spring fed brook or maybe take a nap on a hammock.Chilly fall evenings can still warm your heart by relaxing in the the Greenhouse or near the campfire.  We are exited to share our little slice of heaven with you, and our extensive personal knowledge of Oregon's hiking and recreational opportunities.

Hood view.  Relax in your RV and watch the sunrise over Mount Hood or enjoy a crisp clear morning walk along the creek side trail. Sleep under the stars with the sounds of crickets and the distant coyote.  Wake to the site of quail, heron or hawk and the occasional deer.

Where to go

Beacon Rock State Park

Travel to Beacon Rock State Park to hike Beacon Rock Trail—a 1.8-mile loop up Beacon Rock. The rock is an 848-foot basalt column featuring switchbacks and views of the Columbia River Gorge. Then, set up shop along the Columbia River shoreline, where campers can find standard campsites, full hookups, and horse camping available. Enjoy fishing, paddling, or swimming steps away from camp. Despite seasonal closures at the main campground, primitive and equestrian sites are open year-round. A Discover Pass is required to enter the park, or a day-use fee can be paid at one of the park’s automated machines.

Columbia Hills Historical State Park

Dramatic cliffs and petroglyphs pave the way for an epic stay at Columbia Hills Historical State Park. Featuring four unique areas, Columbia Hills blends desert-like terrain with lush vegetation. Campers can explore Native American pictographs and petroglyphs at Horsethief Lake—one of the largest concentrations in the Pacific Northwest. Then, find standard campsites, partial hookups, hiker/biker campsites, and rustic cabins on the grounds, along with one restroom and a dumping station. Note that the campground runs on a first-come, first-served basis and fills up quickly in spring.

Gifford Pinchot National Forest

The Pacific Crest Trail, Ape Cave lava tube, and Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument are just some of the natural attractions at Gifford Pinchot National Forest. It hosts over 1.3 million acres of dense forests, deep valleys, mountain peaks, and waterfalls. Cabin rentals, dispersed camping, and RV campsites with a range of hookup options, firepits, and picnic tables offer a chance for campers to stay and play. Seasonal activities like summertime swimming and winter snowmobiling draw campers in year-round.

When to go

Summers are short and warm, reaching average highs around 80°F. Temperatures begin to cool in late September. Winters in Washougal are wet and cold, with temperatures dropping below freezing and high chances of snowfall from December to February. Those camping in winter should come with an understanding of cold-weather camping and preparations.
