This cozy cottage is equipped with a queen size bed in a lovely sleeping loft, a small but useful kitchen, a large trex deck with patio furniture, a comfy couch and small dining table. The separate, but luxurious, bath house has a full sized shower, sink, and fully plumbed flushing toilet. There is even a small stacked washer and dryer available. Laundry soap available for purchase. Name brand (no dollar store stuff here) shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided.
A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm.
The kitchen has a gas 2 burner stove, a mini fridge, toaster oven, hot water kettle, french press coffee maker, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, and other basics.
The bed has 100% cotton sheets, pillow cases, and blanket. As well as a comfy coverlet. A feather alternative duvet is available for colder nights.
There is only one bed and it is not recommended for small children to sleep in the loft as there is no safety rail or gate up there. If a child is present it is recommended (almost required) that they sleep on the couch in the lower living space.

The lofted full bed is cozy, but don’t bop your head on the way out! The bed has a six inch memory foam mattress with extra blankets and pillows. Everything is washed with free and clear detergent for sensitivities.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. We loved the beautiful layout space and ended up sleeping really well. The hammock was such a sweet touch to check out the starts at night. There was an issue with the toilet so we were offered a discount to use the woods instead. All in all, it was a great stay and Virginia was fast with communication!

This place is pure magic. We started our summer with a trip and my kid begged to go back for our last trip of the summer. Gary thinks of everything. You really can just bring food and a sleeping bag and you will want for nothing. It is peaceful and whimsical. Gary is friendly and respectful of your space and by the end you can’t help but feel like family. Thank you Gary for making a place my kids feel safe, free and curious!

Weekend Trip to Elfendahl Forest
This place is magical—an off-the-grid wonderland filled with creativity, imagination, and so much attention to detail. The owner has clearly poured a tremendous amount of thought and personality into every corner of the property, and it makes the whole place feel incredibly special.
The communal spaces are welcoming, playful, and fun for all ages. There’s a large, well-stocked kitchen, beautifully designed and spotless facilities (Louis 1 & 2 and the shower), and gorgeous mosaic work and craftsman-style woodwork throughout the property.
And then there are all the fun little surprises: ax throwing, hammocks, a climbing net, a garden, punk bunnies, chickens, flowers, statuary gardens, gnomes, and so many other whimsical details to discover. There’s something around every corner.
The hosts have thought of just about everything you could possibly need. And while the camp is wonderfully off the beaten track, there’s plenty to explore—and even more space to simply relax and enjoy being there. Honestly, we found ourselves not wanting to leave!
If you do venture out, Belfair State Park is only about 15 minutes away and is a great place to explore, picnic, and swim. The warm saltwater and sandy beach made for a perfect outing.
Overall, this was such a fun, imaginative, and surprisingly relaxing stay. The campsite and host were absolutely incredible, and the care and creativity that went into creating this little wonderland really made the experience unforgettable.

Cedar River Cabin was just what we needed to ring in the last weekend of summer! The hosts are amazing and were very patient with my pregnancy brain messing up the code to get into the cabin 😂. The land is beautiful and they have everything you could need! I packed way too much! Brittany really takes care of her guests. My dogs loved the property too! There was no shortage of sniffing for them! We can’t wait to come back as a family of 4!

Such a beautiful setting to cook, hang out, and sleep in with my pups. The entrance and the short walk to the yurt was very easy to find and follow. I had forgotten a book but the puzzles and games provided was a lot of fun. The place was clean and the grill and provided paper plates and utensils made it very easy to make my own meals.

I just stayed 2 nights over the weekend with my daughter and dog. The cabin was perfect for our needs. It's comfortable, clean,.and better stocked than expected with microwave, toaster, etc. and several blankets. We enjoyed the dock and tried out the kayaks. I was glad to have brought life jackets and a long cable leash which helped us positition the kayaks on the water and also kept the youth kayak connected to mine. A camping shower came in handy for rinsing after.
The place felt private enough but it did get pretty noisy down the lake with sounds of a late-rising rooster, lots of cheering, laughing, loud music and some questionable singing 😄

We loved camping on Gary's property. Our 2 year old enjoyed the play ground, net, playing with the dogs and bunnies, and running around. This was a perfect spot for a family of 4 (2 adults, newborn and toddler). The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, clean bathroom, and shower had heated water. We plan to come back again this summer and highly recommend it to other families.

Weekend Trip to Bywater Yurt
The yurt is fabulous. Quite private. Yes, Megan’s house is a few feet away but it faces away from the yurt. There are other houses beyond hers but you can’t see them until you walk out into the field. It was very quiet, just birds talking to each other. It’s centrally located so it’s a short drive to any part of the island you want to explore.
And Megan is good people.

Weekend Trip to Neighborwood: An Eco Retreat
We really enjoyed our stay. It was so quiet and relaxing at night. We cooked some great meals on the gas burning stove. Explored the state park near by and went paddle boarding. Tyler was attentive to any issues we had which was only needing help with the water. Definitely recommend.

This place is incredible! It’s so well maintained. I was impressed by the lack of spiderwebs on the cabin. 😜 And as others have mentioned, it smells lovely inside. My favorite features were by far the wind phone and community cabinet. We painted rocks and then forgot to leave them there so I’m sure we’ll be back to drop those off. Access to Cedar River Trail is easy and it takes just a few minutes to hop over to Cascadia Pizza or the market. We had fun playing a hot wheels treasure hunt but a few were never found. So have fun to whomever comes next! 😆 Host was super easy to contact with any questions along the way and I’d absolutely return here again. For us, this retreat (just 17 minutes away from home) was exactly what we needed. Highly recommend this gem to anyone who wants a little break from everyday life. Cell service was great but not internet. But you wouldn’t want to use those things here anyways. Thanks again Brittany!
