This is a stand alone structure that is separate from our main house. There is no shower in this dry space, but there is a camping sink that functions like a normal kitchen sink with hot water capacity. The shed has an easy to use composting toilet with clear instructions if you’re a first timer. Also, “Ms Pacman's Backyard Glampsite” is a converted shed, so be ready for some lower ceilings and narrow spaces. The lofted full bed is cozy, so don’t bob your head on the way out! The bed has a six inch memory foam mattress with extra blankets and pillows available. Everything is washed with free and clear laundry detergent for any sensitivities.
We provide a small refrigerator, a 2 burner stove with pots and pans for light cooking, coffee making supplies (reusable keurig pods or pour over coffee along with creamers and sugars), wine openers, dishes, and more. We have 2 tables where you can enjoy meals and games either indoors or outdoors.
You will be one block away from Highland Park which has a tennis court and baseball field. Less than a mile north, you can explore the West Duwamish Greenbelt Trails. Only two blocks south of the property is Westcrest Park that hosts a community garden, a dog park, and small trails in their greenbelt. You’re also walking distance to downtown White Center, which has a microbrewery, a roller skating rink, a gay bar, a plant store, and plenty of coffee shops and restaurants.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. Inside, includes couch, queen bed, twin bed, fridge with chilled water, freezer, microwave. Nicely heated in winter and stays cool in summer. Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. Hello, Our space provides south views over the Tahuya Valley and sits along the edge of a deep gully to the east. Once described as a sea of evergreens, decades ago this whole area grew Christmas trees, so we like to think a lot of the +40 year old trees where just left to grow for lumber once they stopped farming holiday trees.
It feels very remote as it is very quite here, though on a dead air day during commute hours, you'll hear distant road noise, that's about it, often the wind, rain, and the birds drown it out completely.

Valley Ridge Lookout – Largest, the upper site, with a 22' TiPi. Huge views, outdoor sink, cold shower, and outhouse nearby.
Gully Vista (request only) hike-in, tent/hammock site, via a narrow trail down into the gully.
West Perch – Smaller site with water and power, tucked along the western parcel edge, pull through parking. Closed for construction for future base site of TiPi.
Side Step – Closed.
Most see tent campers and AWD vans . If you're trailering, and the trailer weighs more than your vehicle, this place is not for you.
✅ What Makes This Place Special:
Big south skies—great for moon/stargazing.
South of hundreds of acres of state timberlands, A new private link trail connects to the Howell Lake ORV trail network. Trail can be overgrown at first, then opens up to ORV trails.
We’ve got firewood— not perfectly dry but it burns. Kindling recommended in wet seasons for starting.
Trash-free land. Please keep it clean, you're welcome to burn paper products and I encourage you to buy more paper and less plastic. Please pack out all waste with you.
⚠️ A Few Notes:
Steep drops —stay alert, especially at night.
1-mile private drive is bumpy—take it slow please, more so during dust season.
Freshly drilled well , but I can't legally recommend drinking since it flows via temporary water setups still. I can fill tanks directly from the well if asked.

We have an acre of land with an orchard, grapes, blueberries, raspberries, tons of flowers and peace and quiet except for some traffic on Veazie Cumberland Rd. There is a tree farm across the street from the campsite and a blueberry farm across Veazie. Picking time for blueberries is end of July into August. Deep lake is four miles from our house as well as Kanaskit State Park with a river. Mt Rainier is about 45 minutes away. Mt Peak, 1000 ft hike, is 4 miles toward Enumclaw from us.

5 acre fully fenced Mt. Rainier view property. Dog and horse friendly. Please leash and pick up. There is a full game room for your enjoyment and free wifi. Both sites are full RV sites with 50 amp, water, sewer.
We have 42' RV available for rental as well that is across from the site, there may be tenants staying there during your stay.
We are the doorstep to Mt. Rainier and all of its' glory. Less than an hours drive from Crystal Mountain Resort. Located at the top of Carbon Canyon we have endless trails for hiking, horse riding, and motor sports. Feel free to bring your toys and you can drive right off the property. You will be staying in a rural area with open pasture and a beautiful walking trail nearby.
A little about Orting - Nestled in the foothills of Mt Rainier between the Puyallup and Carbon Rivers, Orting is a quaint Turn-of-the-Century village that you will not forget.
The town center is anchored by three parks filled with giant maples and evergreens. You will be awed by the view of Mt. Rainier from Washington Avenue.
The levees on the east and west sides of town are perfect for hikes along the rivers. The 20 mile Foothills Trail meanders right through the middle of town and then takes you along the Carbon River levee. Bike, walk, take the stroller and the family pet. Enjoy the turn-of-the-century architecture of downtown and eat at one of the 15 restaurants.
If your timing is right you can take part in the Daffodil festival and parade the first Saturday of April. The Kingsmen Car show comes to town the third Saturday in June. Then there is the Pumpkin festival the second weekend of October. Finally the year is capped off with the Christmas festival throughout December. Then there are the many foot and bike races that take place on the foothills trail throughout the year.

This was the cleanest, most balanced and beautiful crunchy camping retreat I've been to. Attention to detail is spot on, the bathrooms are beautiful and equipped with modern fixtures (even on some of the outdoor showers!) the hot water gets HOT! The community members are super chill, very friendly, available and promptly responsive as needed. The grounds are clean and the vibe feels wholesome.

Cozy cabin in a private setting with a view of the sound. Super comfy bed. Quiet, a nearby walk to the beach. The chocolate chip cookies were a bonus, and Fred is friendly, can talk about the island, lives next door but makes himself invisible.

Weekend Trip to Elfendahl Forest
My second time staying was even more magical than the first! I simply love it at Elfendahl Forest and can’t wait to stay again. I would literally live there if I could! Highlights: the wanderbus is the coolest and has everything you need! There were three cool dogs: Bacchus, Raven and Honey. Along with awesome chickens, bunnies and even a couple of lovely cats. The shower was amazing and I love the communal kitchen and compostable toilets and all the fun decorations and discoverable surprises all over.

Such a great spot! The cabin is cozy, clean and quiet. You can tell that care and consideration was given - you'll have most of the things you need to enjoy a few days in the trees. We brought a teen with us, and the tent pad was perfect. The location is outstanding as well- you're close to several day hikes.

I’ve stayed at different sites at Cedar River Retreat on several occasions and enjoyed my stay every single time.
Brittany is a pro and seems to just know how to make our stay comfy and homey. Everything is obviously well thought out, from the great value extras available, to her responsiveness; we feel at ease and relaxed. Not common for a property just 45 minutes from Seattle. Oh, and the cabin has a new little handy pump (?) sink next to the composting toilet! The firewood available for purchase on site, the other amenities, and the useful extras available for purchase, have us looking forward to our next Cedar River Retreat always. Thanks, Brittany!

Gary was an excellent host! The Wanderbus and hot tub were just what we needed to escape the city life for the weekend. Everything was well stocked and there were some unexpected provisions that made it clear that Gary puts a lot of thought into having guest stay in his community.
