This is a gorgeous park-like RV campground situated between the trees of the arboretum. NO TENTS, please. Also we have NO PUBLIC RESTROOMS. Beautiful view of the mountains and forests here in western Washington. We are close to Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier and several lakes. There are walking trails all around the site. The 12 acre campground is located on a 136 acre property that is an active Christmas tree farm. Trails continue throughout the tree farm. Many trails have a view of the Tilton River, which can be reached via a challenging 3/4 mile trail. Sites are on 12 acres planted with many different species of trees that are about 30 years old. Giant Redwoods, Cedars, and Maples are just a few of the varieties present. Part of the farm is still a working Christmas tree farm. The trails are wide and grassy. The old logging road that we use as a trail to the river has an elevation change of about 500 feet, the trail can be quite challenging. Bear Creek empties into the Tilton river at the end of the trail. There is an ART GALLERY where you can learn to pound flowers, see the host's artwork and get a cup of coffee! This is upstairs through the check-in entry-way. Tilton River Studio Gallery. Three sites have electrical hookups. Every site has a water spigot (use a pressure regulator if you want to hook up). The camp, for the tent site… we arrived and she drove us all over her property and told us to just choose where we wanted to camp. We chose to stay in back of the horse area. While we could see the house from there, we didn’t care and if you want to move back in the woods further, there are spots back there too that would provide more privacy if you need that. This is a great site and a one of a kind experience being that close to the horses."

Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

Doing so is a great favorite of our guests. There is a giant crystal housed in a gazebo that overlooks the surrounding fields and woods. Time to meditate with the giant crystal in the gazebo can be booked with Kathleen for a fee of $55. We are wild and woolly. We provide a place to experience nature as it simply is. We privilege pollinators above human aesthetics. Wildflowers abound, including various dandelions of which many are edible and healing plants. We encourage converting from lawns to meadow lands being supportive of wild birds and insects. If you like it wild we are the place for you. This is not a resort or English style garden. Please note, this is HARSTINE ISLAND, NOT HERRON. I haven't gotten Hipcamp to fix this yet. There is a bridge to the island and the coordinates offered for site are correct. The map says beach shore Rd but the physical sign says Klondike. Very clean commercially maintained outhouse now available! Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fire pit for another.. 2 meadow sites in 5 acres, a forested tent sight coming. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet. Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry! One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well. There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage. Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. One lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing! Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Frequently people have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out. Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

Easy to find and easy to pull into our site. Very beautiful tree farm and surrounding area. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again!

Weekend Trip to The Arboretum at Bear Canyon West

We stayed at the Concord Pond site and found it to be a fantastic setting! Lots of trees with plenty of shade so no need for a canopy or awning. Endless amount of walking and exploring to do, we walked around looking at the huge variety of trees, plants, and garden area. We walked the Timber trail as well. Barb offers an art class of flower pounding which we took our grandkids to and they loved it. Both Terry and Barb were fantastic to visit with and gave us the feeling of visiting friends. The campground sits in a beautiful relaxing quite and scenic area, we will definitely be visiting there again!

We had a great time at our annual trip here! Stayed at the Brown site. Beautiful view, close to walking paths and felt private. Hosts are incredible and welcoming. Definitely will be back!

3 nights at Roughin' It RV Park

The location is excellent, it’s private and secluded however, minutes from the lake and store. The area had plenty of room to pull in and out the camper. Plus, plenty of room for tent. There’s a beautiful gazebo with evening lights that sets a relaxing atmosphere. The third night the golf course had a glow in the dark evening session. It was fun to see all the golf carts lit up in different neon lights from afar. There’s a large double gated fence that keeps your stay private and safe.

What an amazing property to camp on! Barb and Terry are superb hosts. Signage was clear and everything exactly as advertised. Our spot felt private and while we were aware of other campers, they felt worlds away. We were there for 4th of July weekend and the gunfire was crazy (automatic weapons!) so I would recommend not going on the 4th if that’s a concern. Barb, I loved touring your gallery!

Cindy and Robert were absolutely awesome! They put a lot of time and hard work into their property and it shows. Power water, and sewer. Deer coming into the campsite. A nice quiet place to sit back and read a book.

What a great place to stay. Its on a Xmas tree farm which made it feel really woodsy. Our spot, was great. We were on the west side of the pond. Location is Private and so much green grass. We had lots of humming birds and the setup was good even when other people showed up to their camping locations. There were plenty of bees but they never even buzzed near us...Im not a fan of bees but these I never even thought twice about. They are mostly collecting pollen from the flowering trees. The host are very kind and were always quick to respond if we needed something. Mostly, bundles of wood since the weather wasn't that great. Terry brought us bundles of wood anytime we requested and we purchased some of their honey from their bees....so good! We could hear an occasional car going by on the road but it was in the distance and really not bothering. We will definately be back.

We camped for 3 nights at site E. The sites are clean and well leveled on gravel and the property was quiet, well maintained and deer friendly. The owners home is on site and they are friendly and helpful if you need them but also non-intrusive. With full hookups this was a good place to base at for exploring the area!
