Such a well kept and peaceful site. Electric and water were simple to use. It wasn’t difficult at all to find and the setup makes it feel so cozy even in the colder weather. Highly recommend!

Judy was very friendly and helpful, the tent camping was perfect for our needs and is a very good value for staying on the island. My dogs were welcomed in the common spaces and I very much appreciated that. The kitchen area was well stocked for making food and had made it feel like glamping rather than camping. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I camped at the green table with a 19ft trailer that easily fit the area. Like others have said, it’s more private and has a larger space for lounging. I chose the green table for its privacy because our dogs are yappers and would bark at others if we were too close. The site was nice. The view wasn’t great because of new tree growth. However, we loved the young trees but were still a little envious of the other sites’ views. The propane shower was a huge plus since we ran out of water on day 3. The well water made me and my hair softer than ever!! So nice!! There is a common area that could be fun with the right group of people. There are a couple of swings for littles, which I found cute even though we don’t have children. Overall, it was a really nice stay and I felt extremely rejuvenated when I got back home. 10/10 recommend. Pro tip…the drive in is steep and intimidating but short… and going down was no problem. The propane shower though….😍

The views from David’s place are awesome. It’s right off the interstate and easily accessible. Had plenty of space to situate a 26’ trailer. Pink and yellow sites (have stayed at both) are pretty close together but depending where you park, there is still good privacy. The rope swing is nice and the kids loved it. Having water and power onsite were also great to have.

Such a quiet, sunny place with very comfortable conveniences like showers, a kitchen area and even a hair dryer! I came in the shoulder season and found a place to rest that I'll come back to in October.

We enjoyed our stay at Hawks landing! The host was great at communicating and happy to help with any questions or problems! Which was appreciated. Quiet area and the fire pit and string lights around made it nice to sit out in the evening.

Weekend Trip to Blackberry Basecamp

Great property to camp on with lots of green grass, safe and secure environment at the base of the nearby mountains. Several spots to enjoy privacy. Indoor bathroom & shower (great hot water pressure) are up to date, clean & very modern! Walking distance to the river as well as town wheres there's lots of small town places to eat & 3 thrift stores. Bring food because the local store is a bit too pricey. I highly recommend camping at Blackberry Basecamp & I'll definitely be camping there again this summer! Several towns close by with lots to do in the summer including hiking, fishing, enjoying nature, outdoor Packwood flea market & yard sales. Got visited by some deer while camping & it was a cool experience! The hosts were very nice & accomodating to make sure you're setup. Thank you to them for making my experience very enjoyable! I'll definitely be back to see you all this summer! The Buckshot Tavern in town has really great burgers & nice local folks who make you feel welcome. There's a breakfast diner & a Mexican restaurant. You won't be disappointed at Blackberry Basecamp!

The views were beautiful and relaxing. Very quiet. Definitely a great place to go for our first time with our trailer. We were able to hook up to their power and water. We had our dog and his senses were out of control being out by farmlands but we couldn’t smell anything.

Weekend Trip to Butter Creek Retreat RV Site

A beautiful river front property with the most gracious hosts! We love Packwood and we’re thrilled to find this gem. The location is just minutes from town and hiking. Such attention to detail has been put into making this a great space for campers and the river is literally steps away. Joe and Shelly were delightful and really made our weekend away to celebrate my husbands birthday relaxing and enjoyable. We will be back

5 nights at Green Apple Alpacas

This is a great camping spot: beautiful, roomy with friendly, hospitable hosts. We had a wonderful time there. We were there for 6 nights in our 29ft travel trailer. Our grandchildren came to visits and got to meet the alpacas, sheep and chickens and feed carrots to those that eat them- they had a fun time!! Kandi and Mark were extremely helpful throughout our stay. One note- if you’re coming in a longer rig, coming up the street to turn onto their property from the South has much more space to make the turn than from the North.

Weekend Trip to Green Apple Alpacas

This was such a fun trip for my wife, our dog and I to start our camping season off right. I got to walk an Alpaca! We met all of the animals on the farm, which included feedings and seeing their personalities. Kandi and Mark even allowed us to let our dog run off leash in one of the empty pastures to get his energy out. He loved all the new smells and we loved all the treats from right there. Thank you for opening your farm to hipcamp users like us for something unique.

Bethanne is very responsive, and we really enjoyed her sharing her horse farm with us! Such a peaceful place to be and so close to everything, we definitely would recommend this property to anyone who enjoys a peaceful night on a farm that is close to the city. Not to mention being secured behind a gated entrance is second to none. This will go into my favorites folder for sure!!

Located only a 5 minute drive to Mayfield Lake in Lewis County, our property is a rustic retreat from the hustle and bustle. There are plenty of outdoor exploration opportunities in the area. We have 5 acres with a great camping spot with a fire pit nestled among large evergreen trees. The tress provide shade in the summer months. For bird lovers and botanists, we have left our land native with grass lands among the trees. We have local osprey, eagles, and falcons as well as doves, owls, cickadees, woodpeckers, robins, etc. We also have local deer that travel through the land, and mostly leave us humans alone.

Offering a lovely, personal campsite area surrounded by beautiful trees nestled in the back of a ranch with horses (and chickens) just on the outskirts of the small, charming town of Yelm. (In some of the pictures you will see the horses in the area of the camp, but whenever there are campers they will not be turned out there.) There is 30 amp electric and water (hose). There is a porta-potty and a shower shed with a tankless water heater for your convenience. 1 Hour to Mt. Rainier National Park. 1 1/2 hours to Olympia National Park. 2 1/2 hours to Mt. St. Helens. 1 hour to Seattle. Close to Puget Sound and loads of nature spots. Local hiking and fishing can be enjoyed nearby. Our property is surrounded by nature, yet only a 5 minute drive into town where you will find charming shops, restaurants, cafes and coffee houses. There is also a fabulous movie theater. And only 15 minutes to the Red Wind Casino. There is a railroad track next to the property, but it is only used on Tues. and Thurs. between 10 am and 1 pm when a short train passes by and then returns. Rarely, it may have an additional passing but not often and it has never run after dark or early morning. (It is a military train so pretty punctual). (Also, as we are only a 5 acre property, we are close enough to roads that you may hear some traffic. They are county roads though and not highly traveled for the most part.) **Trigger Warning: We are near the military base of JBLM and so you will occasionally hear their military doings. As we are a horse property, we will also require that you sign a standard release of liability waiver.

I was not sure what to expect staying on a horse ranch, but it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Kristy was an awesome host and there was one other group up by the rv pad, but we hardly saw them. Dogs were very friendly and Kristy let us use a propane fire-pit to provide warmth and a fire for our tent site. The bathrooms were clean and there was some water by our site, but we did not use it. The camp, for the tent site… we arrived and she drove us all over her property and told us to just choose where we wanted to camp. We chose to stay in back of the horse area. While we could see the house from there, we didn’t care and if you want to move back in the woods further, there are spots back there too that would provide more privacy if you need that. This is a great site and a one of a kind experience being that close to the horses."

Your campsite has 15a power and water, and gravel parking, and is located by the beautiful Western style brown barn at the end of Naylor Road (at the "End of County Road" sign). Note that the site has been leveled but is NOT perfectly level; it is however within the typical leveling ability of RVs at the size limits stated. The farm is located on a steep hillside (12% grade); there is only so much we can do. But the stunning views more than make up for any inconvenience, in our experience. Ovis Aries is the scientific name for “domestic sheep”, and indeed, we raise Romney sheep of all colors on our farm! You may also meet our sweet and friendly Morgan Horse mare, Naya, who likes to follow visitors around like a very large dog. We also have a small orchard with apples, persimmons, cherries, blueberries, and a pear, peach and almond tree beside the barn. We farm using organic, no-till, permaculture, silvopasture and forest grazing practices, and the sheep are entirely grass-fed, producing meat of the healthiest-possible quality. If fiber arts is your jam, we have a beautiful wool workshop, with a 40" 4-shaft, 6-harness Louet Hollandia floor loom, a 32" Harp rigid heddle loom, 5 spinning wheels, a drum carder, and numerous other fiber tools for scouring, prepping, spinning, dyeing, weaving, felting and knitting wool. The Arboretum at Bear Canyon West

This is a gorgeous park-like RV campground situated between the trees of the arboretum. No tents, please. Also we have NO public restrooms. Beautiful view of the mountains and forests here in western Washington. We are close to Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier and several lakes. There are walking trails all around the site. The 12 acre campground is located on a 136 acre property that is an active Christmas tree farm. Trails continue throughout the tree farm. Many trails have a view of the Tilton River, which can be reached via a challenging 3/4 mile trail. Sites are on 10 acres planted with many different species of trees that are about 30 years old. Giant Redwoods, Cedars, and Maples are just a few of the varieties present. Part of the farm is still a working Christmas tree farm. The trails are wide and grassy. The old logging road that we use as a trail to the river has an elevation change of about 500 feet, the trail can be quite challenging. Bear Creek empties into the Tilton river at the end of the trail. There is an ART GALLERY where you can learn to pound flowers, see the host's artwork and get a cup of coffee! This is upstairs above the shop, right on the property. Tilton River Studio Gallery. Three sites have electrical hookups. Every site has a water spigot (use a pressure regulator if you want to hook up). No restrooms or sewer hookups. Garbage disposal site available Memorial Day to Labor Day. A little about Orting - Nestled in the foothills of Mt Rainier between the Puyallup and Carbon Rivers, Orting is a quaint Turn-of-the-Century village that you will not forget. The town center is anchored by three parks filled with giant maples and evergreens. You will be awed by the view of Mt. Rainier from Washington Avenue. The levees on the east and west sides of town are perfect for hikes along the rivers. The 20 mile Foothills Trail meanders right through the middle of town and then takes you along the Carbon River levee. Bike, walk, take the stroller and the family pet. Enjoy the turn-of-the-century architecture of downtown and eat at one of the 15 restaurants. If your timing is right you can take part in the Daffodil festival and parade the first Saturday of April. The Kingsmen Car show comes to town the third Saturday in June. Then there is the Pumpkin festival the second weekend of October. Finally the year is capped off with the Christmas festival throughout December. Then there are the many foot and bike races that take place on the foothills trail throughout the year.

Glencove pasture and forest trails

The place has been farmland since about 1926. It became a family horse property with three pastures and now is a small lavender and blackberry farm. While it is limited to two RV sites, there may be farm visitors walking arond the area. Tall cedars and fir remain in the back of the property and provide for a forest experience. It is not a commercial campground. We are now turning it into a small lavender farm. About half of th original pasture is now covered in black ground mat and 3,000 newly planted lavender. Learn more about this land: One acre pasture for dry RV camping (no restroom facilities). There is a potable water/hose bib and an auxilliary 110 volt 15 amp AC connection via extension cord from barn. You should rely primarily on your own power. Walking trails are in cedar trees and on hill across 10 acres with flower fields and blackberry "farm". Free blackberry picking in season (August and Early September). Deer, racoons, foxes, bald eagles and occassional coyote on site. Keep food and trash secure. No toilet or sewer available. There is one portable "porta potty" type facility. Dry camping only, no camp fires allowed due to fire conditions. Pack out own trash/garbage. No Pets allowed. Only visible neighbors are three horses on neigboring 10 acre farm property. There is Wi-Fi. Beach access has been closed.

Camp with the Alpacas

We worked for several years to improve the land, pulling acres and acres of Scotch Broom. We now are home to La Vida Alpaca, a herd of about 40 alpacas, and Tahoma Vista Fiber Mill, a custom artisan mill. Meet the alpacas, tour the mill and shop in our farm boutique during your stay. You can also take a fiber arts class while you're here. We can customize one for you. We have great views of Mt. Rainier from many sites on our property. We have a mix of wooded and prairie areas, and cute and friendly alpacas grazing nearby. Note: Site #4 is only available for tent camping. Please book Sites 1-3 if you are have a trailer or RV. Our sites offer potable water, trash disposal, wifi, picnic tables, a toilet, a place for campfires (outside of burn bans)! Guests love staying with us: "What a fun and unique trip for our family! Jean and David are such a hardworking and nice couple. We had a great time learning about alpacas. We did the tour and it was really interesting to learn about how the yarn and felt is made. The little shop is cute too and of course we had to grab some souvenirs :) Their dog Snowflake is such a sweetheart and was so kind to our 4.5 year old and rambunctious 2 year old. So neat to have the alpacas roaming around the property. Lots of open spaces for our children to run around on. Definitely recommend!"
