This information is based on stories from some old timers my husband had spoken to in the past when he bought this property in 2002. The owner back in the old days sold off parcels and parcels of lands back then. A 15-20 minute walk takes campers to a swimming hole in the cool Stillaguamish river for a dip or a paddle. Even closer is Whitehorse Regional Trail (great for biking, walking and horseback riding) built on the bed of the former BNSF railroad through the North Stillaguamish River Valley, spanning over 27 miles. The nearly level trail meanders through the valley, rewarding visitors with picturesque, landscape views of forests, farmland, streams and rivers, and mountain vistas. Sites have a generous fire pit and access to a Porta-Potty. For bathing I recommend cool dip in the Stillaguamish River. In season there is also fishing, snowshoeing, concerts at the blue grass festival grounds, a rodeo, and so much more.

There is a fullsize high end queen memory foam bed on the upper floor. Yes, this is a 2 story treehouse! On the second floor there is also a children's sleeping loft which overlooks the rest of the bedroom. This loft is suitable for a small child or 2 but headroom is only a few feet. We found it also requires some youthfull agility to get up there. A beautiful knotty alder slidding barn door leads from the bedroom to a private bathroom with pedestal sink and odorless composting toilet. There is a small kitchen with a coffee maker, mini fridge, induction cooktop, mini crockpot, and enough dishes and glasses to enjoy a simple meal or drink. Water pressure in the kitchen and throughout is good! There is a soaking tub on the main floor near the fireplace and TV with free Netflix. This luxury tub is sure to be a favorite amongst guests. I designed a non traditional floor plan knowing that this would be used primarily as a couples retreat. You can literally be soaking in the tub and watching TV by the fire while your significant other is preparing a meal in the kitchen all in the same space. We find the layout very romantic and unlike anything else out there. There is also a large hot tub avalible for our guests near the main house. You are welcome to use this hot tub anytime if you don't mind it being by the main home. Free Wifi. No cable TV but we supply Netflix on the hi-speed guest network. Guests will have free parking in our large circular driveway suitable for cars, trucks, or even RVs under 31ft.

There is a small kitchen with a coffee maker, mini fridge, induction cooktop, mini crockpot, and enough dishes and glasses to enjoy a simple meal or drink. Water pressure in the kitchen and throughout is good! There is a soaking tub on the main floor near the fireplace and TV with free Netflix. This luxury tub is sure to be a favorite amongst guests. I designed a non traditional floor plan knowing that this would be used primarily as a couples retreat. You can literally be soaking in the tub and watching TV by the fire while your significant other is preparing a meal in the kitchen all in the same space. We find the layout very romantic and unlike anything else out there. There is also a large hot tub avalible for our guests near the main house. You are welcome to use this hot tub anytime if you don't mind it being by the main home. Free Wifi. No cable TV but we supply Netflix on the hi-speed guest network. Guests will have free parking in our large circular driveway suitable for cars, trucks, or even RVs under 31ft.

Come on up to a magical dreamland in the forest on a winding river! We welcome you to a secluded, yet accessible getaway. You will walk down a winding trail with moss draping from the old forest firs and emerge to an opening in the forest with a welcoming large rock patio, fire ring and well accommodated 20 ft yurt. You can then creep along the trail further and come upon a nice flat, comfy greenery area to pitch multitudes of tents, have a swing in the hammocks, or play some yard games. And yet the magic does not end-- emerge further down the hill and you will come upon the glorious North Fork of the Stillaguamish River. It is mighty during the winter months, but flows to a slow and shallow trickle during the summer making it a wonderful place for romping of children and pets alike. There is also some swim holes if you need to truly cool your skin down. The flowing Stilly has blessed us with a very large sand bar on our side of the river which has an abundance of flat, soft sand to pitch more tents on, and also build castles in for the littles. Lastly, don't forget to catch the fantastic view of White Horse Mountain from the two seats that overlook the river! Catch it during the day or during the night with the moon in front of the mountain. You will never forget it! This is an off-grid property. Please bring your own drinking water. We have an outhouse on sight. The yurt has an audio system with CDs if you so choose to bring in your own portable battery. If it is cold winter months, please be aware that there is no heat source within the yurt. We hope you enjoy this forested river land!

Brittany's space is a sweet little haven. I have booked this spot a few times for a Winter Solstice celebration and it never disappoints. We love gathering around the big fire pit for hours, sharing in ceremony, music, and reflection, and ending the night with a cozy sleep in the cabin. I happily recommend this spot!

What a fantastic spot. Valhalla Tree Farm is the perfect place to unplug and get cozy. The off-grid cabin was simple and comfortable, and the propane heater kept us toasty the whole time. Even with the water shut off for the season, everything was easy to manage, and the covered fire pit meant we could still enjoy a fire while it sprinkled most of the trip. Shannon was super helpful and responsive, and we loved being able to wander the property and let the dog run around off-leash. The backdrop of the escarpment is beautiful and makes the place feel extra special. Honestly, I’m almost hesitant to hype it up too much because I do not want to fight for dates next time. We’ll be back!

Weekend Trip to Camp Keyser Forest Camp

Second time staying here, and it’s one of my favorite local get aways. You feel so secluded, but it’s only 90ish minutes from Seattle. Bed is ridiculously comfy, and it’s a great way to reset off grid. Lots of great hikes nearby, too. It’s definitely cosy, so recommend preparing food in advance so you can easily cook without tripping over each other. You’re close to a highway so you’ll hear car noise, but it doesn’t bother us at all. The lane is quiet and a great walk with the dog in the am to see the cows

Weekend Trip to Pipe Lake Cabin

The cabin was larger than I expected! You enter into a large room with the main bed (bedding included), pullout couch, armchair and fireplace. Then there is the kitchen area with a good size dining table. Bathroom is right off the kitchen. No shower but that didn't bother us. Basic amenities for the kitchen is all provided and there are plenty of extra blankets. Just a PSA, your door code will be sent 30 minutes before the check in, we found ourselves worrying as the time got closer and closer!

The cabin at Valhalla once again proved to be a wonderful autumn destination to relax amongst the trees, listen to the babbling stream, soak in the sun atop Look Out Rock and cook up some good food around the campfire. I can't say enough good things about this place, it is really an oasis of calm.

Wonderful & close views of an eagle, sitting right in a tree off the deck. Pro tip: Shut the door between main room and kitchen. It makes the heater much more efficient. The A-Frame is spectacular. The host is kind, welcoming, accommodating, and a joy to work with. I've now visited this and the same owners' other cabin 3-4 times and will continue to! Comparing the 2 below (I love them both - just depends on what you're looking for) Similarities: --Both have: -super- fire pit areas, great views (one woods, one more open), privacy, keypad lock on door, access to trails, gas-powered indoor burner for cooking, outdoor shower with hot water (in season), ~4" foam mattresses on all beds, parking for at least 2 vehicles, picnic table, outdoor chairs and table on a deck. Differences: --The A-frame has side-by-side sleeping arrangements, wider than a king bed, so great for singles AND great for couples. The cabin has bunk beds. --The A-frame has some pots, pans, and dishes to help on a rainy day. Last I was there, the other cabin didn't have dishes/cookware. --Running sink water at each (in season), indoors at A-frame and outdoors at cabin. --The cabin has gas-powered heat and the A-frame has a wood stove. --The A-frame has a composting toilet, cabin has an outhouse. --The tables at each are different orientation - A-frame's can be folded up/down but you sit side-by-side. Cabin is 2 benches and you face each other. Seriously, though, you can't go wrong with either!

Weekend Trip to Simple Roots Ranch

We had a wonderful stay at the potting shed for our 2nd anniversary! Dave and Sharon are great and hospitable hosts who have put so much love and care into their property and this cabin. We had everything we needed and more and even though it was a very rainy weekend, we still got to enjoy the trails and gardens on the property with some raincoats on!! We woke up on our last morning to some delicious muffins dropped off in the kitchen and Dave cut us some mushrooms to take home with us! The kitchen was well-stocked and with it being super chilly outside the shower and kitchen sink still got warm!! This is such a cozy and peaceful place with all of the amenities that you’d need but with an outdoorsy glamping perk! We will definitely be back!
