2 nights at The Old Family Farm

Really lovely spot, just at the foot of a large hill, nice open spot, great for looking at the stars if you’re lucky. The hosts were super lovely, had a great chat with them, as well as super caring. On our first morning we woke up to hot chocolate sitting beside our tent which was very appreciated given the cold night. Honestly, well worth the trip, and super close to Mount Rainier!

Terrific spot just east of Aberdeen, about 1.5 miles south of Hwy 12 in Elma (stock up at Elma Farm Stand or Grocery Outlet) Tranquil, quiet, very well kept…about 9 sites spread out along the banks of large ponds full of lily pads and many varieties of birds. Each one has a firepit and a hand hewn log bench. Two very clean porta-potties. Free firewood!!! Don the owner is a great guy. Made sure I got settled in properly, fun to hear how he created Camp Bird Watch from the wild. Will definitely return!

This spot is a gem! It all starts with the drive down the magical path of lined trees that opens up to the bluff. Then you’re greeted with the most amazing view of Mt. Rainier. Any spot you choose to set-up is the BEST spot. I spent the weekend taking in the views, watched the seals play down below and spotted eagles soaring above. Lisa also stopped by to say hello which made it feel very personal and gave me a sense of comfort/safety especially as a solo camper. Will definitely be back!

I loved my stay. Spot 3 was awesome. Shaded. Nick was amazing. He checked on me everyday to make sure I didn't need more water or fire wood. The only downfall is you hear all the road traffic from. Spot 3. However I will most definitely be staying here again. 😁😁😁😁😁

Where do I even begin? This place has everything! Trees, gardens, wildlife, a creek, beautiful star filled skies, chickens, farm cats, rv spots, tent spots, air BnB, and Dan. I’m pretty sure Dan and my wife became best friends. He showed us all around the property, showing us all of the beautiful foods and flowers they grow, the history of the property, and took us on walks by the creek for agate hunting and cedar branches to make walking sticks. Waking in the morning to the sound of the trees rustling and the birds chirping was the cherry on top. For those tent camping or not equipped with a bathroom, they’ve thought of everything! There’s a camper bathroom with shower, toilet, sink, and laundry! I could go on and on. David was very thoughtful and checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. If you love nature, great conversation, with thoughtful amenities, this is your place. We will definitely return!

I loved that it was only 20 min from Niscually entrance of Mount Rainer. The campground is in the forest. I was worried about “the train” but it’s so cute everyone comes out and takes photos of it has it goes by. The campground also has little sculpture gems my favorite was the raccoon.

3 nights at Hairy Eagle Lookout 🦅

My husband and I camped at the green table with a 19ft trailer that easily fit the area. Like others have said, it’s more private and has a larger space for lounging. I chose the green table for its privacy because our dogs are yappers and would bark at others if we were too close. The site was nice. The view wasn’t great because of new tree growth. However, we loved the young trees but were still a little envious of the other sites’ views. The propane shower was a huge plus since we ran out of water on day 3. The well water made me and my hair softer than ever!! So nice!! There is a common area that could be fun with the right group of people. There are a couple of swings for littles, which I found cute even though we don’t have children. Overall, it was a really nice stay and I felt extremely rejuvenated when I got back home. 10/10 recommend. Pro tip…the drive in is steep and intimidating but short… and going down was no problem. The propane shower though….😍

The views from David’s place are awesome. It’s right off the interstate and easily accessible. Had plenty of space to situate a 26’ trailer. Pink and yellow sites (have stayed at both) are pretty close together but depending where you park, there is still good privacy. The rope swing is nice and the kids loved it. Having water and power onsite were also great to have.

The Arboretum at Bear Canyon West

This is a gorgeous park-like RV campground situated between the trees of the arboretum. No tents, please. Also we have NO public restrooms. Beautiful view of the mountains and forests here in western Washington. We are close to Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainier and several lakes. There are walking trails all around the site. The 12 acre campground is located on a 136 acre property that is an active Christmas tree farm. Trails continue throughout the tree farm. Many trails have a view of the Tilton River, which can be reached via a challenging 3/4 mile trail. Sites are on 10 acres planted with many different species of trees that are about 30 years old. Giant Redwoods, Cedars, and Maples are just a few of the varieties present. Part of the farm is still a working Christmas tree farm. The trails are wide and grassy. The old logging road that we use as a trail to the river has an elevation change of about 500 feet, the trail can be quite challenging. Bear Creek empties into the Tilton river at the end of the trail. There is an ART GALLERY where you can learn to pound flowers, see the host's artwork and get a cup of coffee! This is upstairs above the shop, right on the property. Tilton River Studio Gallery. Three sites have electrical hookups. Every site has a water spigot (use a pressure regulator if you want to hook up). No restrooms or sewer hookups. Garbage disposal site available Memorial Day to Labor Day. Once done my grandma sold tickets to the tourist and my grandpa ran the engine around the 7 acre oval track pulling a train car full of happy tourist through the woods over the train bridge and past the big water tower back to their vehicles so they could finish their journies with a drive to Mt. Defiance ferry as you will pass it on your way to the property. There a galleries, shops and restaurants in the town of Vashon and also in Burton. Vashon Center for the Arts, O-Space and the Chamber of Commerce have events that might be of interest. Bikes, E-bikes, paddle boards and kayaks can be rented from Vashon Adventures and Vashon Bikes.They also rent tents and some camping equipment. Outdoor fires are by permission only. There are sometime burn bans for air quality and/or high fire danger. Generally, fires are allowed AT THE BEACH, below the high tide line, between October 1 and June 15, but there are various reasons they may not be allowed (air quality bans, windy conditions, etc.) Any fire you light must be put out COLD (no steam, no heat) with water and buried with sand before leaving them unattended. You are responsible for any damage or injuries caused by a fire you start, so please be careful! Please note: It is very important that the number of people on site is accurate. Please contact Hipcamp to change the number of people - there currently is no way to do that on the site?! There is an additional charge per person above the base 2 person rate. Cowboy Camp @ Lazy K Stables

Cowboy Camp @ Lazy K stables is situated on a 21 acre active equine facility. the camp area has plenty of space for multiple tents and/or RV parking. We can accommodate large groups by special request. Come camp out and bring your equine friends! You can tie to trailers, or set up temp pens. Limited horse stalls are available to rent as well for an additional $20.00 per horse. Facility has a 80'x200' Indoor Arena, 100'x200' Outdoor arena, and 60' round pen. Camping area is a peaceful location in a grove of fir trees. Potable water available at the camp site. If horses aren't your thing that ok too, there is plenty of room to set up some yard games, or just enjoy the farm life. Restroom is available located nearby in the arena office(Next to Indoor Arena Near Graveled Parking area), but no showers available. There are NO trails on site, however we are only 5 minutes away from 360/Gateway Park where there are ample horseback riding/walking/mountain bike trails. Small firepit available, BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD.

Dragons Gate Gardens & Wilds

Tenino, the area we are in is where the First Nations People used as the Gathering Grounds. The Europeans when they came with their railroad chose to continue that tradition. Tenino is ground zero for the measurement of where one is on the railroad. We fell in love with our farm with its much untouched acres (not know any chemicals for the last 30 years) to create a place where people can gather and reconnect with life's natural beauty. We are certified organic, Salmon Safe certified, and pesticide free. Dragons' Gate Gardens is home to many giant crystals and here their beauty works delightfully with the land. The area has gently rolling hills filled with wildflowers during the earlier part of the Summer. Dragons Gate Gardens and Wilds has a hundred and twenty acres to explore. The Skookumchuck River is a little over a mile away where you can enjoy a waterfall and walk along the river with low bank where one can get into the water. Doing so is a great favorite of our guests. There is a giant crystal housed in a gazebo that overlooks the surrounding fields and woods. Time to meditate with the giant crystal in the gazebo can be booked with Kathleen for a fee of $55. We are wild and woolly. We provide a place to experience nature as it simply is. We privilege pollinators above human aesthetics. Wildflowers abound, including various dandelions which many are edible and healing plants. We encourage converting from lawns to meadow lands being supportive of wild birds and insects. If you like it wild we are the place for you. This is not a resort or English style garden. Tall grass, wild flowers and trees fill the land around you to give you a feeling of full immersion in Nature.

Olympic Gateway Cottage And RV Site

Public RV dump site at Potlatch State Park - 14 miles. 1 bed/1 bath cottage available late summer 2025. 17 mins to Hood Canal, 30 mins to Lake Cushman, 50 mins to the Staircase Entrance of Olympic National Park (33 miles). Perfect location for setting up camp with your RV, then taking your car up into the Olympics. Looking for dog-friendly hikes? Several Olympic National Forest and Skokomish Wilderness trails can be accessed from Lake Cushman, including Mt. Ellinor, Mt. Rose, and Mt. Washington. When returning to camp, enjoy what our property has to offer. Of the 11 acres, 10 acres are comprised of wetlands. A trail winds down to Mill Creek just 1/4 mile downstream from the outlet of Lake Isabella. Here the creek is wide and it is permissible to hand launch non-motorized vessels (eg, kayaks, canoes). The stretch of creek between our property and the lake is conservation land, and a beaver dam crosses the creek, but kayakers can usually navigate over the beaver dam and paddle into Lake Isabella. The lake is over 200 acres and boasts Lake Isabella State Park and a public boat launch. Our wetland is critical for maintaining water quality for the local shellfish industry; access is confined to the trail and creek access needs to be gentle. But if you pause for a moment along the shoreline you'll be rewarded as wildlife begin to stir from their hiding places. Song birds, rabbits, deer, voles -- yes. But also river otters, beavers, ducks, cormorants, and owls. Mountain lions and coyotes are possible, and salmon run Mill Creek. Back at the RV site there is a picnic table for cookouts and a large propane fire pit with half-moon seating - perfect for roasting S'mores late into the evening or stargazing in a region remote from city lights. With just a single RV site, our nearest neighbor several acres away, and only State land between us and Hwy 101, you can expect a private stay in a forested setting with easy freeway access to the Olympics on one side of the property and an idyllic private creekside nature preserve on the other. Healing Hearts Ranch

The ranch is 23 acres partially wooded with a nature trail and open fenced paddocks and fields. We have a herd of horses on the property and offer Equine Assisted Learning and riding lessons onsite. Tent site is in wooded area at back of property, porta potty by the barn available. Water from spigot by tent site. Guests love it here: "What a nice surprise! I was not sure what to expect staying on a horse ranch, but it was everything I could have hoped for and more. Kristy was an awesome host and there was one other group up by the rv pad, but we hardly saw them. Dogs were very friendly and Kristy let us use a propane fire-pit to provide warmth and a fire for our tent site. The bathrooms were clean and there was some water by our site, but we did not use it. The camp, for the tent site… we arrived and she drove us all over her property and told us to just choose where we wanted to camp. We chose to stay in back of the horse area. While we could see the house from there, we didn’t care and if you want to move back in the woods further, there are spots back there too that would provide more privacy if you need that. This is a great site and a one of a kind experience being that close to the horses."

Pleasant Places campground is clean, quiet, spacious, and private with lots of nooks for R&R as well as ample space for play and activities. It is an ideal location for large groups, and in order to keep the camp private, larger groups are given priority. Centrally located and with 10 acres of field, forest and farm, there is something of interest for everyone. In camp you will find a rustic kitchen, two 6' picnic tables, and a fire pit with accessories. There is also a resource area where you will find an electrical outlet, a water hose, five gallon jugs, bundled firewood, fresh eggs/produce for sale, and a wagon to transport everything back to camp. While the campsite, play space, and driveway loops are mowed, most of the grounds are wild so bring your tromping shoes. We also have a play field (with a net) so pack your movie screen, volleyball, soccer ball, badminton set and lawn games. You'll enjoy communing with the farm animals, the goats are especially hands on and love the attention campers give them, while the chickens and ducks are mostly just fun to observe. The local fauna include deer, skunk, coyote, rabbit, weasel, and possum--bear and cat are not common, but please do be conscientious about leaving food out. While there isn't water on the property, Mayfield, Ike Kinswa, and Riffe lakes are all 20-30 minutes from here and provide lots of boating, swimming, and fishing opportunities. Just five minutes down the road, Carlisle Lake offers walking trails, outdoor exercise equipment, fishing, summer concerts, and a playground for the kids. If you're looking to explore the area, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, the East Side, and the Pacific Coast are all just day trips from here. We are midway between Portland and Seattle and just 15 minutes off of I-5 making Pleasant Places a perfect meet in the middle getaway.
