We loved the Cedar River Cabin! Just the right size with all the glamping amenities. Cute, cozy, easy to get to, nestled in a lovely wooded area. Moxie, our cat, enjoyed it too! Beautiful, well thought out, and clean space that had everything one needs to create beautiful memories with friends and families. The whole property is gorgeous with stunning views. This was the second time we stayed at The Lookout - and it was even better this time. The Spud airstream was fully loaded with everything we needed, including amazing snacks for our day hike. The dome offered amazing views of the lake and was a magical place to see the sun rise and sunset. This is our favorite place to stay when we plan to visit Rainier. Highly recommend!

The lands of Camp MoxyJo's were such fun from vintage glamping trailers and camper vans to multiple kitsch-filled common areas for communal cooking, play & hanging out. Having grown up in the 1960s, I felt I was immersed in joyful memories of my young adulthood everywhere I walked on the Camp MoxyJo's grounds. My young grandchildren loved roaming the campground, feeding the goats, and being introduced to the art of darts--intergenerational memory making.

Weekend Trip to The Lookout at Mayfield Lake

This was my second time camping at The Lookout and it was just as magical as the first time. Christie and Thane have really created a wonderful space that balances the outdoors and all the comforts of home. From the views to the outdoor shower, everything was great! The extra appliances in the airstream allowed for us to cook outside by the power pole and we really appreciated the 2nd fridge to keep everything cold so we didn't have to buy a ton of ice. We painted rocks as a family at the picnic table and enjoyed s'mores by the fire all while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake below. The everything down to the porta potty was so clean! And the touch of the panda drum, my entire family enjoyed playing it, it was the highlight of our trip!

Weekend Trip to The Lookout at Mayfield Lake

I absolutely adored The Lookout! Everything was so wonderfully curated and it was the perfect place to get away from the city for a weekend. I can tell Christie and Thane put in a lot of effort to make this place as cozy and welcoming as possible. The view of the lake is breathtaking! Mossyrock is a cute little town (check out Nacho’s Mexican Restaurant), and there’s lots of good spots for fishing around! I’d 100/10 stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay in the trailer! It was comfortable, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The place is actually much bigger than it looks in the photos, which was a great surprise. The amenities were excellent, and our kids especially loved feeding the goats — such a fun and memorable experience for them. Joanna was super responsive and made everything smooth from start to finish. Everything was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully arranged, which made our stay so easy and enjoyable. We would definitely recommend this place, especially for families with children.

1 night at Juliane Henry’s Equestrian

Fun evening on a horse farm. The yurt was small and cozy - just enough space for the queen air mattress and two small single pads. We enjoyed watching the horses, loved the mountain view at sunset, and had a fun campfire. A few things to help future travelers. It's a big property, so I was glad I messaged the host beforehand to ask directions to the yurt. We couldn't find the restroom, so I had to knock on the door at the house to get directions (it's in the center entrance of the horse barn). We also weren't sure where to get water and never found the petting farm area with small animals. It would be helpful if the host made a map of the property to show guests where things are.

This place is amazing! The Airstream is comfortable and cozy, with AC, cooking supplies, and everything you need for a great stay. The dome is so unique, and is an amazing place to enjoy the view! Weekend Trip to Juliane Henry’s Equestrian

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Juliane's ranch! The yurt was clean and had comfortable mattresses waiting for us. The place is especially magical if you have little ones. My 5 year old was in heaven being surrounded by horses and visiting the petting zoo. Right across from the driveway is a short path to take a dip in the river. We did get a lot of bug bites even with bug spray, but that's just how it goes sometimes. We also scheduled a horseback & pony ride for the morning after which was absolutely wonderful. The view of Mt. Si from camp is Hosts were warm and friendly, and my daughter won't stop asking when we can go back. Thank you for having us!

My friends and I came here during our cross country road trip and was such a wonderfully magic experience. The Moon tent was so nice because we felt like we had our own little section of the property. Sayer and Silas gave us the farm tour - we milked the goats and fed the chickens. We also had a wonderfully eye opening conversation about non tradtional ways of living. Definitely would come back and definitely recommend doing the farm tour!! This place is great, and they are doing wonderful work.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The area was beautiful and peaceful and the hurt was comfortable. My husband and I were bikepacking so it was nice to have a break from setting up the tent. This place BLEW ME AWAY! It is SO cute, even more so than the pictures. I wish I had more time and could've stayed longer. Brittany was amazing and proactive in her communication, her instructions and directions were very clear and incredibly helpful. It was a great location, the place was clean and cozy, and had so many little touches that made it feel welcoming and homey. I will absolutely be back, and hopefully soon!

Tips for snagging a campsite

Though RVs are allowed to park at Cougar Rock, Ohanapecosh, and White River campgrounds, they have no electrical, water, or grey water hookups.
Each campsite is limited to a maximum of two vehicles, two tents, and/or six campers. Most campsites are big enough for only one tent and up to four people.
Campsites at Cougar Rock, Ohanapecosh, and White River campgrounds can all be booked in advance online, with availability opening on a six-month rolling basis. The sites at Mowich Lake are available only on a first-come, first-served basis

When to go

Mount Rainier National Park is open year-round, though heavy winter snow typically closes all but the Nisqually Entrance. At this time, roads at higher elevations may be closed or require snow chains or winter tires to access. July and August are busy times, when popular parking lots and entrances come with long waits. Aim for a mid-week visit, or go during the late spring or early fall to beat the crowds.

Know before you go

The visitor center at the Longmire Museum is open year-round, while the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise closes on winter weekdays. The Ohanapecosh Visitor Center and Sunrise Visitor Center are open in summer.
When making a summer visit, try to arrive early (before 10am) or later in the day (after 2:30pm) to avoid peak crowds and wait times.
Concessions are sold at Longmire, Paradise, and Sunrise. You can also stock up in the nearby towns of Ashford and Packwood.
Cell service is unreliable in Mount Rainier National Park, but there is wifi in the Jackson Visitor Center at Paradise.
