Glamping in San Juan Islands

·

Glamping in the San Juan Islands means waking up with the scent of fir trees and the sound of water, not fumbling with tent poles. With over 360 glamping options here, you can pick anything from a safari tent in the forest to an Airstream with a hot tub. Average rates run around $190 a night, but you’ll find spots as low as $40 if you book early. Most sites offer real toilets, fire pits, and, if you’re lucky, a steaming hot tub under the stars. Wildlife-watching is a given—bald eagles, seals, and sometimes even orcas. Hikers get miles of trails with coastal views and mossy forests, while winter brings out the snow sports crowd. Locals always recommend Rusty Ranch Tree Farm and Forest (323 reviews), North Wind House: Historic Cascadia (245 reviews), and Chuckanut Hills Farm & Camp (209 reviews) if you want something comfortable and memorable. You’ll find glamping here isn’t just about a cushy bed—it’s a front-row seat to the islands’ everyday wildness.

We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning. Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway. We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas. There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

We are open! This magical, 40-acre, cultivated ecosystem, will wrap around you and leave you enchanted. Enjoy this peaceful, country retreat, as a place to rest and reconnect with the earth and yourself. This is a great place to stop for the night, but one day might not be enough to meander the many paths, drink tea harvested from the herb garden, sit on a bench talking to ancient Maple trees, walk the stone labyrinth, wander the sacred Grove, and camp under the stars. There's so much to enjoy here, from the fragrant rose gardens to the orchards and sheep meadows. Spend the morning sipping tea with a book in the greenhouse, an afternoon wandering the many wooded trails, preparing dinner with vegetables grown from the garden, and enjoying the evening watching the moon and stars come up from the observatory platform. You could take a guided tour of the land and animals, or join one of the many workshops hosted here, such as learning to spin yarn from our herd of Icelandic sheep or take an introduction class to Permaculture. Bring your knitting, friends, or just a favorite book, and spend a few days in this tranquil destination, as this land has something to offer everyone. Please NOTE: This is a working farm, we have animals, dirt, sticks, bugs, poop, and lots of opportunities to "connect" with Nature. All of our amenities are shared spaces, designed to foster community. You will find signs posted around the property with clear communication. All of our lodgings are off-grid with no electricity or running water. Water, electricity, and WIFI are available in the shared kitchen, garden, cafe, and lounging areas. Located on Chuckanut Drive, this secluded off-grid cabin offers a rare combination of forest solitude and ocean proximity. A short 5-minute walk uphill leads you into a quiet forested sanctuary on 20 acres of private land. Experience being completely immersed in nature, yet just across the road from the beach and steps away from the interurban trail system that gives access to miles of exploring and trails. Inside the cabin you will find a warm, cozy space designed for rest and simplicity. This is an off-grid cabin that requires a peaceful 5-minute walk uphill through a private forest. We recommend that guests pack their belongings in backpacks to ensure an easeful experience. Off-grid means that there is minimal electricity and no running water. There is an overhead light and a charging port for cell phones. There is fresh filtered spring water from the land for drinking that has been tested and is exceptional. We are delighted to offer this gift from the land. There is a double burner stove-top with a complementary tea, coffee, and miso soup station. You are welcome to bring other varieties of soup. We ask guests not to cook anything else in this space. We provide restaurant and trail recommendations in our welcome binder in the cabin. There is an outhouse with a composting toilet for use. There is hand sanitizer wipes available for hand washing. Need a shower? Larabee State park is located 1 min away by car and there are public showers for use. Or rinse off in ocean! We want the expectations of the experience to be very clear so that guests know what to expect. This is an incredible sanctuary and we strive for simplicity. You have full-use of the cabin and are free to explore the forest. You are welcome to use the interurban trail which allows for hiking, biking, and walking down to the beach. Follow the trail 1.5 miles down to Clayton Beach OR access Wildcat Cove across the street (we recommend driving there). Access Fragrance Lake Trail from the interurban trail about .5 miles away. We are immersed amongst incredible trails on the Chuckanut Mountain. Mountain bike? We are smack dab in the middle of mountain bike heaven. We are also located 7 minutes from downtown Fairhaven where you can enjoy phenomenal food and shopping.
