We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, a king shepherd named Jack and a cat named Lulu. You may see some of our neighbour's ducks walking around and hear their rooster in the morning. Please note; our driveway is an uphill, switchback driveway so long trailers are not a fit for our location. Front wheel or 4 wheel is a plus but typically all vehicles can make it up our driveway. We have 2 swimming holes near and backing our property. At the back of the property is Hayward Lake/Hairsine Creek which is great for swimming. Inflatable paddle boards are the way to go if you wish to paddle board in the lake since it would be difficult portaging a rigid paddle board down the Crown Land trail. On the front is the Stave River Runoff. This has trails and is ideal if you have smaller children as the water is a bit warmer and has shallow areas. There are hiking trails in the area and a beach area a short drive from the sites.

The easement protects a buffer zone for salmon and wildlife habitat along the east fork of Chimacum Creek and protects the agricultural and forestry values of the property forever. Please be aware this is a working farm with poultry, livestock, and the use of farm equipment providing a great experience for farm life. Glendale Farm experienced a devastating loss in 2022 when the primary residence burned down. Are you looking for a secluded camping experience with a lot of privacy? Bring your tent and stay at one of our wilderness campsites. Our basic Campsites have picnic tables, fire pits and an outhouse close by. And if you want, you can explore the farm and all our animals or one of the many hiking trails close by. Firewood is available for a charge.Our property is located in Shawnigan Lake, BC on Vancouver Island. The area is renowned for its rugged beauty and its 7-kilometre long lake that provides the opportunity for fishing, swimming and sunbathing in the summer.Nearby is the recently restored Kinsol Trestle named for the short-lived “King Solomon Mine”. Restored in 2011, it is an engineering feat, even by today’s standards and remains one of the loftiest wooden railway trestles in the world.We look forward to hosting you!

Weekend Trip to Rusty Ranch Tree Farm and Forest

The cabin was neat and tidy and fit 3 adults and 2 small dogs comfortably. The trails were beautiful and the creeks even more so. Margaret had extra food and supplies we needed available for purchase at reasonable prices and the privy was extremely clean! We didn’t end up paying to pet the pony but even just seeing em there was nice! Our site was far enough from other sites that we didn’t have any noise issues or feel any lack of privacy. They also went above and beyond and provided beautiful vases of Dahlias in the cabin and outhouse. Overall it was a wonderful stay :)

I stayed in the bunkhouse for a couple days while visiting WA for a buddy’s wedding. It was such a gorgeous and peaceful stay. The trails on property are very well kept and boast some beautiful scenery. Awesome stay, would definitely recommend!

The entire property is very well maintained. We stayed in the Bunkhouse which is a dry cabin (there is a pump nearby for non-potable water and a very clean and odor-free compost toilet in an outhouse building right at the bunkhouse). The futon sofa converts into a very comfortable bed and there is a table built in to the bottom of a bunk bed. There are no electrical outlets but there are interior lights. We were there during dahlia season and Margaret had a beautiful vase of flowers in the bunkhouse and in the privy. There are thoughtful touches throughout the property. We love the hiking trails in the forest and they are all marked and she provides a map so you cannot get lost! We really enjoyed getting away with our dog and being in the countryside.

Very convenient to all the hiking/viewing. Secluded and quiet. Other campers were quiet. Shed was clean, spacious with chairs and lamps. Water spigot was close. The outhouse is a portapotty, very small. In our case it really needed to be serviced.

Weekend Trip to Hobson Meadows

Hobson Meadows is one of those places that feels special because it isn’t trying to be anything other than what it already is. We were greeted by Millie, their calm, wise pup. I loved watching her guide families to their spaces, then wander back later as if checking that everyone had settled in. Then we met Beth, Matt, and Piper. Beth quickly became one of my favorite parts of the weekend. We clicked immediately and kept finding ourselves lost in meaningful conversations. She is a beautiful soul, and you can feel the love she and Matt have for people, nature, and this land. They genuinely check in on guests while still giving everyone space to simply be. The yurts are beautifully set up with comfortable beds and mattresses. I slept through the night both nights — very unusual for me! There’s no electricity, but lanterns are provided. Days can be warm and nights cool, so pack accordingly. The grounds have two portable restrooms plus a restroom/shower combo. The stocked pond is perfect for catch-and-release fishing or simply sitting beside the water. One evening we watched birds return to a huge old tree, and Matt shared that he remembers them doing the same when he was a child. Hobson Meadows isn’t fancy or commercial. It simply feels like a family sharing a beautiful little piece of their heaven with the rest of us. So much more to share in this review, but limited in space. Check it out for yourself! We will absolutely be back. ❤️

Check in was very easy. Host was communicative and easy to get ahold of. We brought more than needed but host provided sheets, pillows, blankets, drinking water, there was charcoal (likely left over from previous camper), and they have ice and firewood for sell.

Weekend Trip to Wild Hearts on Whidbey

The friendly farm friends (ducks, chickens & horses) were a nice treat. The details of the space weren't clear as advertised, which required some adjusting for our stay: The floors and provided blankets were covered in dog hair when we arrived, the tubs under the sink meant to catch water leaked all over the floor, the 2nd bed was stored up above the built-in room (unreachable) and there were no instructions on how to turn off the (albeit very cute) overhead lights. The host was very accommodating to our 3 cars and responsive to concerns. The decor was cute, and the space was easy to find.

Weekend Trip to Fruit of the Earth Farm

This was our third visit to the little cabins at Fruit of the Earth, and we always have a wonderful time. The property is beautiful and Leia is a great host. I was so glad we opted for the dozen farm fresh eggs with our booking this time, and in the past we’ve loved getting to meet and feed the animals. Can’t wait to come back!

Weekend Trip to Compass Rose Farms

Wonderful unique hipcamp. Loved picking greens and fruits from the garden. The community areas were thoughtfully arranged and the walking trails were great. I was definitely inspired to make good food. Some info that I thought would be useful for others to know: unless you have a van spot, you will be walking your things in (not far, just something to consider). Vintage trailer was adorable and very comfy to stay in. The sites are close together. The tent sites offer most privacy. Can't wait to go back!

Weekend Trip to Clear Light Valley Retreat

Loved the camp site and our wonderful host, DeAnn. The instructions were clear and the site had everything she had listed. We went there to capture the recent meteor shower and were able to get great views and nice shots! If you wish to relax in an isolated area away from city bustle and night lights, this is your spot. Highly recommend!

The Round House was fantastic and Scott and Kateen were so kind. The kitchen was fantastic with all kinds of really cool cooking utensils and oven. Can’t wait to bring my girlfriend back!”

2 nights at Hobson Meadows

We absolutely loved staying here. It felt private from tent to tent but not so much so where you couldn’t say hi as you passed by. The bed was so comfortable and the bedding was warm for the cold nights. I usually have to sleep with a heating pad due to neck pain, I didn’t have an issue at all while staying there. Also, big fan of the owner’s pups. We don’t know their actual names but we are sorry (not sorry) that we may have invited one to sleep with us on our last night. 10/10 snuggles were given and we apologize for what we assume were extra bedding washing the host had to do due to our need for puppy time. I hope yall would have us back again, it was a wonderful stay.

3 nights at Coyote Meadow Basecamp

My husband and I loved our stay in the cedar shed at Coyote Meadow Basecamp. We planned a last-minute getaway, and were thrilled to find this location: close to Port Angeles and the road to Hurricane Ridge (where we were headed to watch a meteor shower), but secluded enough to be peaceful. The shed had lots of room and everything we needed. We enjoyed taking walks along the dead-end road in the evenings and saw deer several times. We hope to return!
